This is the look that the owner of the guitar wanted: a fairly traditional sunburst. I can appreciate your comment, but it was not my decision because it was someone else's guitar. However, I do like a nice sunburst just as much as a natural finish. Sunbursts are what attracted me to archtop guitars almost 50 years ago.
I really miss a lot of the beautifull pattern of the original wood.
