Christie McVie and John McVie were separating. And if that’s not enough Mick Fleetwood was going thru a divorce. So the group was going thru a lot of turmoil. Dreams was a response from Stevie to Lindsey about this breakup. Imagine having your Ex record, perform, and then hearing about your breakup on the radio...

If you watch the live performance she is wearing a top hat and doing the harmony and looks like she's crying. You see her just looking at him and being so upset. She hated the line "Packing up, shacking up" , she thought it crude and disrespectful. Fleetwood was a mess during this era but made GREAT songs.

Suggest you react to "The Wheel" Live at the Royal Oak--Detroit 1981. Also " Compassion" and "Love is the Answer" Recommend the live versions at the Royal Oak. Peace

There are other performances of this, later, probably live, with MUCH more passion.
