Yes I agree, What DVR records does not represents what actually was reproduced on the screen. My attitude V5 have weird image producing via the oled, what actually I see is some sort of flickering image black / white & color, ending up with BW only; this only happens when connected to my Caddx SDR 1. Any other screen/goggle are fine with the the said camera. fine. When Attitude V5 connected to any other camera/VTX no issue at all. I have a tough time to explain in writing when I wrote to Fatshark
From what I could see it really comes down to what your going to be using it for, the wild fire had a nice depth of colour and was pretty good over all for the cost. Being a straight forward user friendly on a mid cost range it would make it a good little unit for your average flyer. But that's just my opinion
Well after all that I still, and yes I extrapolated my own theory ;) believe that there is only one clear and concise winner! Rapidfire just cannot be knocked off the podium right now! ...
Honestly the cost difference is negligible if you're using it EVERY SINGLE FLIGHT! It's 60 dollar difference but that spread over 100s of flights doesn't make a damn difference. It's a harder pill to swallow but it is what it is.
I've recently been having issues with rolling and complete disconnecting with my rapidfire hdo setup. Within 30ft direct sight. I'm assuming it's either the rush vtx or foxeer camera cuz I've never used either. Glad you explained the sync lock time cuz I assuming the opposite about those settings.
I had that issue a while back, turns out there was a debris on rapidfire sma thread and the lower antenna wouldn't screw in all the way even though it would feel tight. This super unlikely to happen but it won't hurt to check lol
@@Christheawsome3 I appreciate the response and will check, but the issue seems to be narrowed down to this single quad of mine with the rush foxeer combo. All my other quads are fine and running runcams and RDQ transmitters. I wanted to try something different and it bit me in the ass. I'm sticking with my norm from now on 😂
Rapidfire better reception, and for me worth it. Oops on misaligned gopro, where's Joshua from the future when you need him. 😊 The kwad finder is a super useful tool. Gets me close enough to hear the beeper. Great review, happy flying. 👍💖🤓
Purchased a few weeks ago rapidfire from banggood for 130eur, special offer, therefore I had the trued-3.x. To be honest, I was with the true-d also satisfied. So that rapiddongs is not really necessary..
I have been using the original true-d with HD3. I recently purchased the HDO2 and wildfire. I haven't tried anything else but for me it was a huge upgrade. The HDO2's are brighter and clearer, and the Wildfire has way less breakup. However I mainly fly at school yards and in partially wooded areas.
While years later, i just got wildfire for my DJI v2's. the image looks way better than in my O3os (minus the OLED screen difference)...thats the issue with the O30 having a locked module :(
Obviously True-D so you can get a dock king to hide from the g-man in your windowless van when it's illegal and still get good signal with it stuck on top. (Has anyone ever tried other modules in the dock king?)
I'd say rapid fire has least amount of breakup, but $150 is a lot for it's limited amount of feature. I'd take True-D 4.0 all day for shear value and features. It performed as good or better than the rest of the pack as well. Keep up the great content!
Maybe it would be possible (although I know it would be really time-consuming) to go through the first set, Wildfire vs Rapidfire, and total up how many seconds of USABLE image was on each one, during the test... That might give a more empirical result as to which one is performing better. And if this were done on multiple flights with the same modules, it would provide an average that could determine real, actual differences in performance. If I had the time I'd try it myself on these results... What do you say, JB? Worth the effort..? As always, excellent work. You are the Data King!
That stat only tells you how long you spent in the "difficult" parts of the flight. If I had hung out in the alcove around the corner for a long time, there would be a lot of frames where the RapidFire won.
@@JoshuaBardwell Good point, it just popped into my head while watching the comparison, trying to think of ways to gauge performance. It really is hard with modules; among the people I know, everyone thinks the one they own is the best!
I am the only one using a Eachine Pro 58 Module? This little fella kicks ass compared to the price :D and as upgrade you can put on the Archilles Mod and boy, it can run!
Josh I have a noob question (tech noob that is). So after your reviews of all those I retained a few things. Rf is a huge plus to keep a clear video signal, functionalities as such presented with this Wilfire are a good thing for any user, even if learning curve and needs for those functions can vary among pilots. And of course the price. So as a noob, I want easy to use but with enough functions to help me get the best of it and of course crisp image even far away or behind structures.... The comparative here show clearly that the Rapid fire keeps the best video feed anywhere, but just by maybe 5m further than the wildfire. Is it a huge improvement for a beginner pilot? Because the price range between this emidels Are a huge thing for a beginner. So far I'd say best seems to be Rapid-fire but ouch for the price.... Then comes the Tru-D X but I've read that the can damage your Dominator HD3...... (screen flash and dead screens etc) so....... Is it safe? I just got my HD3 new for a bargain price at 250$ but dropping again a another 150$ for rapid fire so I can have a good receiver? For sure, I can grow with Rapid fire and not have to replace it when I start flying further away. Damn.... Hard to decide at my level..... Best gear or cheaper one but I'll have to later get a better one.... Feel free to give me your opinion guys, it'll be appreciated 🤯
One thing to keep in mind is that this test is intentionally in the worst possible environment: 25 mW with lots of concrete walls. At 800 mW in clear space, the difference between RF and other modules would be exaggerated, but you would have to fly a lot further to demonstrate it. Frankly, I think any of these modules would be fine for a beginner.
What if i went with the skyzone module bay adapter Nd then used a pair of aomways and the wildfire.... 🤣... But seriously that was a consieration of mine. Would it be better than buying a whole new goggle!?!
For sure! That's what I have Aomway's with the Skyzone module adapter. I just don't want to spend $150 for the Rapidfire. But, it is CLEARLY far superior. I can't believe others here are debating the issue. The Rapidfire is a 10 and the closest thing to it is MAYBE a 7. Not even close! What are they seeing that I'm not? Plus, don't even think of buying new goggles! Digital FPV is here, and more is coming. Just wait until around July....a new product accidentally leaked at the consumer electronics show CES in Jan 2020 will come out somewhere around then that will make you never want to use analog again!!!! That's why I don't want to spend $150 on the Rapidfire! :)
This is not a joke, but a serious remark / questions. The quad flies The radio sends control signals The camera sees The goggles let you see So the modules? ? ? Does a set of goggles have to have a module to work or not? If not is there a video comparison of goggles with vs without the module(s)? I’m confused about what the modules do. Like big picture what is their “function?”
Joshua Bardwell ok, so when I purchase a pair of goggles from fatshark or DJI do they come with all the required hardware to work out of the box? For instance I was most impressed with the “Owl” module you reviewed. Do I get one of the fatshark modules when I buy their goggles so now I would have an extra one, the owl and the comes with modules? Or do I just decide to go with the owl and somehow order the fatshark “goggles only” or is that even an option?
I watch all your videos to the end including this one... Even though Fatshark's or any other goggle with external module's are out my price range.. So i'll have to just stick with my Eachine EV800d goggles. Haha. Great video though 👍
I saw a UVA Futures video recently about a module adaptor for Skyzone i believe. In that video he said something about possibly being able to put it on the EV800d.
I started with those and then upgraded to hdo, trust me you aren't missing a lot (picture quality wise). Hell you can even do a mod to add an external receiver to the ev800d like rapid fire. Then you can have the great reception without upgrading goggles
Hi Joshua! Great job as always! I would like to ask you a question because you have all that equipment and i think you can answer it. I have the Skyzone Sky03o and i was thinking about a module. I am pleased with the reception and from what i have seen in youtube it seems to me that the only one that would make a difference is the rapidfire . It would be a pity to buy a module and have no difference at the reception.
The Wildfire has a pretty good image for the price, and its size/shape/appearance will probably be a good match for side mounting on DJIs, and all things considered for that purpose its performance is just fine. Would I pick the Wildfire for a new HDO2? No..
The right side was consistently out of focus, and the left side consistently had worse reception. Kind of a crappy comparison since we don’t have any way to know if the major flaws track to something related to the setup which correlated to which side of the screen it was on.
For anyone coming in the future from here. Lemme say I was reading my rapidfire manual and it said different modes may be needed depending on ntsc or pal I believe also same time and thing it depends on your cam vtx combo and such I never considered much till now. It's always alot of variables is my point.
Hi there Rapid fire has some majical power to do that although wildfire looks better when eith good signal. What is the camera on the quad thanks realy intrested.
Hey Josh, was it just me or did the Foxeer appear to be much nicer in rich colour and sharper? Even though I am a Rapid fire fanboy, or was this a focus thing of the GoPro maybe?
That adapter to the dji Google's breaks the pulse syncing... That's why the poor performance. The Foxeer WildFire needs to be directly connected to fatshark Google's or skyzone (the skyzone adapter for modules work fine).
Signal goes to Rapid Fire but the clarity on the picture to the left is a lot cleaner and it looks almost like the picture on the right is out of focus what's the reasoning behind that
Would there be any advantage for Sync reconstruction fidelity if there were three or four receivers for the signal with two having identical antennas and the third and fourth having identical antennas but placed at polar opposite sides of the goggles with a voting algorithm ? Or even just three with the third being the vote for reconstruction ?
Thank you so much... this video made my decision. Definitely joining the patrons. Josh I hope to get to meet you at the protest. Its not a far drive plan on sleeping in my truck. Lol
I wish youd include the clearview groundstation in these side-by-sides. I still think its the gold standard for raw video performance (it obviously sucks on convenience and price) and think it serves as a useful benchmark for comparisons. Would also be interested to know which module was on the goggles you were flying through when recording
CV groundstation did not consistently outperform Rapidfire in previous tests. At 2x or more the price, and with a groundstation vs. module, I don't agree that it's definitely the gold standard of what people will actually choose to use. Testing takes time, and it's necessary to be selective about which modules get time spent testing them. The focus is on modules that people are likely to use.
Did you swap the module between the two goggles so that you could see if there was an issue with the way the camera was pointed at the always-blurrier side? Would be interesting to see if the wildfire on the other set of goggles is also blurry.
Please see this Josh, don't say your Amazon bit at the end about clicking the link and buying something else. it is against Amazon's Affiliate link policy, and you can lose your affiliate link. Well after all that I still, and yes I extrapolated my own theory ;) believe that there is only one clear and concise winner! Rapidfire just cannot be knocked off the podium right now! ...
that 3D printed fatshark gopro mount is genius! nice job whoever did that! :)
I was really for waiting for this product to be in your hand
Multipath handling is better on the RapidFire, however I noticed that the Rapid Fire image was blurry compared to the WildFire
Shane Reutzel that’s just because the GoPro wasn’t focused in the goggle properly. It doesn’t have anything to do with the RF
The kwad finder is a super useful tool. Gets me close enough to hear the beeper.
Great review, happy flying. 👍💖🤓
I purchased a Wildfire, and it lasted for all of one flight and went black. I am sending it back for an exchange. I have a Rapid Fire on the way also!
Omg congratulations!!
Purchased a few weeks ago rapidfire from banggood for 130eur, special offer, therefore I had the trued-3.x. To be honest, I was with the true-d also satisfied. So that rapiddongs is not really necessary..
You should try to get a set of goggles on the FAA people. Tiny whoop, ez pilot or something to get them seeing what we do.
18:30 he forgot he was reviewing the wildfire n not the fusion LMAO
oh Joshua haha
Yep this!
Trappy has him shook. Psychological warfare.
Caught that too lol.
Lots of guys have...search youtube.
I dont know but the feed on the right is always a bit more blurry then the one on the left
I'd say rapid fire has least amount of breakup, but $150 is a lot for it's limited amount of feature. I'd take True-D 4.0 all day for shear value and features. It performed as good or better than the rest of the pack as well. Keep up the great content!
Thanks so much for keeping it up! Imo you are the last copter expert on YT!
Thank you. Been looking for a module for my attitude v2s.
Maybe I should upgrade. I'm still rocking my RealAcc RX5808-PRO-PLUS. Never had any problems with it.
I like wildfire and a test with power cranked up is needed I think.
18:27. u accidentally call it the TBS fusion test ..
Ordered wildfire... got the standard fatshark modul - hope this will imporove it!
The colours look really nice in the wildfire could be a a dirty lense ext but the ones on the right hand hand seem blurry .
would be awesome DJI to release a module for other goggles
TrueD-X goes for around 70$ right now, pretty good deal
Great test! I really enjoyed this comparison 🥰
The quad flies
The radio sends control signals
The camera sees
The goggles let you see
So the modules? ? ?
Does a set of goggles have to have a module to work or not? If not is there a video comparison of goggles with vs without the module(s)?
I’m confused about what the modules do. Like big picture what is their “function?”
The goggle needs a receiver module to receive the signal. The goggle without module is just screens.
What where flying with you said a clearview I think ?
The wildfire has a bit sharper and clearer picture when in full signal
I heard breathing and thought I was getting too excited. Thanks for the review. It doesn’t look as good as some of the other.
I watch all your videos to the end including this one... Even though Fatshark's or any other goggle with external module's are out my price range.. So i'll have to just stick with my Eachine EV800d goggles. Haha. Great video though 👍
My fav box goggle... just upgraded but I used that goggle for a long time
The same here, dude. 😊
There is a module mod that is relatively simple if you're feeling adventurous!
RapidFire was only blurry because the GoPro was slightly misaligned but I figured you still could tell which one was doing better.
that shirt is awesome jb
The OwlRC looks great.
Hey Josh, was it just me or did the Foxeer appear to be much nicer in rich colour and sharper? Even though I am a Rapid fire fanboy, or was this a focus thing of the GoPro maybe?
th-cam.com/video/_TucIUlSXNQ/w-d-xo.html
That adapter to the dji Google's breaks the pulse syncing... That's why the poor performance. The Foxeer WildFire needs to be directly connected to fatshark Google's or skyzone (the skyzone adapter for modules work fine).
I am not sure that you watched the video. I specifically did not use the adapter for this exact reason.
@@JoshuaBardwell it's a great test. Perfect testing methodology.
I just said to warn others. Not yourself.
The right screen seems to be not in focus or, not as clean as the left one...
Excellent video thank you JB
I just hate it when the video breaks up and the picture keeps rolling up and down. Rapidfire does not seem to do that.
Signal goes to Rapid Fire but the clarity on the picture to the left is a lot cleaner and it looks almost like the picture on the right is out of focus what's the reasoning behind that
What about using the PowerPlay for comparison?
Happy to support you on Patreon JB the Gwadddd...
Lol
I still think wired video is the way to go. No break up at all.
18:30 xD TBS fusion? maybe Foxeer wildfire? xD
the right side just seem blurry maybe smudge the lens?
Hey joshua,
Where did you get that shirt?
All I have is the attitude v6 and I feel the rapid fire were I'm go
To me the rapid fire is still the clear winner. But hey, you get what you pay for. Pretty costly.
I think Joshua from the past wanted to say "if Wildfire is for you" not TBS fusion.
Did you swap the module between the two goggles so that you could see if there was an issue with the way the camera was pointed at the always-blurrier side? Would be interesting to see if the wildfire on the other set of goggles is also blurry.
The blurriness is 100% definitely NOT the module. The module cannot have this effect on the signal.
Will you be reviewing the Runcam Peoenix 2 vs the micro eagle and falkor? The Eagle is being discontinued.
Please see this Josh, don't say your Amazon bit at the end about clicking the link and buying something else. it is against Amazon's Affiliate link policy, and you can lose your affiliate link. Many other TH-camrs have lost this, and only exceptionally large TH-camrs have been able to get it back. I love your content and would hate for you to lose even a small portion of your income!
Did foxeer bought the OWLRX and developed it ahead? The menu is the same with owl.
I also noticed the similarity.
@@JoshuaBardwell i.dunno why but i dont see any better reception with wildfire. The i have the early version of owlrx that still had that tiny cap. After removing it perform way better. Now im with the latest fw for my owl. Still rapidfire is the king. But owl is awesome for the price.
Love your vids.
I know the rapidfire has the better range aswell as better receiving the signal when around a corner in that parking lot but the clearer image on the wildfire compared to the blurry image of the rapidfire I think I'd prefer the wildfire. Thanks for the video 🤟
The Rapidfire image is not blurry in real life. The GoPro recording the RapidFire was slightly misaligned. Please focus on the signal breakup and stability, not the image quality.
Ah my mistake. It did raise a question as to how would a receiver even create a blur. Question answered. Thanks for the info
Has anyone done a Matek 1G3 comparison to any of the 5.8G diversity modules? How would 1.3GHZ work in an indoor multi-path environment like that?
What face pad is that on your HDO2s? Please tell me that it gives you a little more room inside your goggles. I'm dieing to get some extra padding.
why does the rapidfire look blurry compared to the foxeer ?
yeh, is that gopro not focusing or does it really look like that?
The GoPro is slightly mis-aligned. That is one consequence of trying to capture the screens in real life.
@@JoshuaBardwell yeh thought it would probably be that. THanks for clarifying :)
Is the Eachine PRO58 too cheap to be included or is it too low quality to be tested?
Great review. Looked like the Wildfire performed pretty well, especially for the price. But I'll stick with my True-D X, haven't seen anything better.
Hi,
I have a weird image woble on my true-d module in my hd2.
Any idea what causes this issue?
External immersion receivers are so much better. But did wanted to try this. Unfortunately not very pleased.
