Did you know there’s 2 hidden attacks for kit Fisto that the game won’t tell you and I can tell everyone how to do them both
my jaw dropped when you said it was 60 GB. what on earth happened there??
Fr
It’s 30gb on ps5
AI upscaled everything
For us Xbox users. It's such a mystery how unoptimized the file sizes are.
It's 57GB when the original back compat games are 7GB combined which already ran at 4K60.
People are saying AI upscaling but it's still absurd.
I always believed that the first Battlefront still had some charm despite the second improving a lot. I will personally being trying to play both online.
Oh it does for sure.
the original had better graphics, more bots and bigger maps with aircraft.
the original semms more balanced, no jedis, also is a slower game u run more slow and for some reason this and other details it give more immersion, and scale, i remember that
@@andresinchausti3841the 2nd one is still immersive though. I felt like the actual OT, PT abd 2D Clone Wars
@@FatherOMalleyBF2 was still the better game overall
Thanks for raising awareness. My experience on PS5 is horrendous. 20 year old game and it’s a jittery, buggy mess and 90% of the time the server list doesn’t even refresh. The purpose of this collection is multiplayer and that’s the worst part of the game right now.
The new beeping loading screens is not the same. 😤
We need those og beeps..
Same with the victory theme and the objective complete sound. The victory theme is very low in pitch and the new objective completed sound is very different from the iconic original sound. The overall font of the text in the game is a little off too.
Its a sham
🤢🤮😭They just can’t get nothing right, the nostalgia is there strongest card,it helps the terrible story and character writing and to f that up is a no no
@@user-yc2hj8ue9q “terrible story and character writing”? We’re talking about Battlefront 2 (2005) right? That story only has one real character and they’re unnamed bruh 😭
I feel attacked for hearing that really no one would be here for battlefront 1.
I used to love chilling on BF1. I loved storming that beach, playing hoth and the jet pqck was fun af. It was fun but it was very limited aside from the missions with flying vehicles as mentioned in the vid. Those were fun albiet annoying taking you out from the air lol. Second one didn't feel good it just had a bit more content. I never liked heroes being a major mechanic.
I’m playing battlefront 1 right now
SWBF1 has prettier skyboxes, less particle occlusion, more open maps. The gunplay is also different from the sequel; sometimes I just don't care for the award weapons and bonuses of SWBF2. I think Battlefront II's maps are more closed off to mitigate the short draw distance.
Cloud City in Battlefront I was way ahead of its time, by far the beast map ever made!
Man same that was my favorite one. Idk why maybe cause it was my first but cmon
The thing that hurts me is just the fonts. So much charm is missing and it makes it look like a fan made amateurish concept piece. I hope they add the og fonts back.
And the BF1 loading sounds, they NEED to add the og sounds back
Agreed, I see exactly what you mean, the fonts, and even looking at the lighting on some maps just looks awful.... it's why I will not buy this game on steam only keep to switch for now as that's where I've always dreamed of playing these games.
It wouldnt suprise me if there was licensing issues depending on the font, granted i doubt they would see anyform of backlash for using the fonts regardless.
@@jasperfox6821I played it - I refunded it, don't buy this game.
@russianoverkill3715 please do elaborate, what did you find, what went wrong?
@@jasperfox6821 perfomance is worse, AI upscaled textures aren't even noticable, it's the completely opposite, graphics are ruined, HUD is displaced for no reason and looks ugly, new font is awful, sounds are awful, multiplayer is laggy(I live in eastern europe but even other people had this problem judging by negative reviews on steam), many bugs and glitches from original games are left unfixed, cut content isn't even fully back, because there is no Bespin Platforms map. This game is a scam.
the lack of crossplatform multiplayer still completely puzzles me, it would have been the easiest selling point of this collection on PC

Awful file optimization.
It's rough.

The inflated harddrive space is almost certainly uncompressed sound files.
That and all the upscale FMVs. Those take up a surprising amount of space
I’m really looking forward to this game.
Edit: After watching the full review, damn it really does seem like Asyper put in the bare minimum amount of work into this game. That’s really disappointing. Let’s just hope that they can fix the multiplayer issues asap.

why on earth would you play this game when you can play the star wars battlefront 2 remake from 2017 thats 10x better. Only reason you would wanna buy this is for nostalgic reasons. I'll stick to the remake thanks
Glad I watching this before getting my hopes up. Thanks for always being honest, dude
I love the original, it may not have sprint, space battles, or heroes, but at has air vehicles in ground battles unlike BF2.
Which is what I used to love. Using the dropships and raining fire down on infantry / vehicles
Yeah the first one has always been my favorite. It has so much more charm imo and the map selection is so much better.
@@inertiaarch3798 I would love to be the guy that designs the multiplayer to a battlefront 3, no starcards or one weapon only or battle points for heroes and vehicles unless it’s for reinforcement classes. Basically Battlefield but Star Wars.
Don’t forget the neutral factions, going prone, far more open and wide maps if that’s your thing, and each individual class for each faction had a lot more small unique quirks about them
@@inertiaarch3798dude, BF2 literally feels the saga + the Clone Wars Multimedia Project and the 2nd actually has maps from the movies. Why are you BF1 fanboys so toxic and hateful?

I really love Battlefront 1 & 2 classics and still play them on steam. I pre-ordered this classic collection for the switch just so I could play while traveling to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions. Good luck in your competitions!

Same for me but on PS5
Let's be honest. When it was announced, I was expecting it to be no more than £20
The funniest thing is, the originals are cheaper 😂
@@why3994 that's obvious. But with multiplayer, both games and texture updates you'd expect a small price increase. Even £20 some may say is too much. £28.99 is ridiculous, but people bought it for nostalgia.
Say whatever you want about these games - the *ABSOLUTE BEST THING ABOUT THESE GAMES* is the *TOTAL ABSENCE* of *_ANY_* "di$ney war$" *_GARBAGE_* in them. Now *_THIS_* is STAR WARS...
UPDATE: Yeah, that still doesn't excuse launching 2 broken games with only 3 servers, crashes, lagging, other issues and a $35 price tag...
Desperate Cope😬
Not gonna lie, when they announced that battlefront 2 was going to have all ground levels feature hero assault, I figured that at the very least, they would have added a sprint function to the first game.
The maps are balanced without sprinting taken into account. If they put sprint into BF 1, they would all play like garbage, especially in regards to pacing, but also cover positions would be FAR too generous.
Sprinting is not needed in the first one
Nah thats like saying they should put sprint into Halo CE, 2, and 3. It wasn’t part of the game and it was a unique experience compared to now
You can sprint
@@nunyabidness8281He said the first game, and you cannot sprint in the first game
I'm so conflicted about Aspyr. On one hand, I love how much they love the KOTOR and the Star Wars brand in general-- on the other, they seem to have the worst luck in the world and a lot of their output (and lack of) shows it.
What is there to be conflicted about? They’ve only ever done ports and just about every port they’ve done has been dogshit.
They are just vultures preying on the carcass of Lucasarts and throwing out half-assed cash grab ports. Nothing to like about them.
@@jamese3114this one’s the same sadly
They love Star Wars so much they dropped a big turd on it.
All of Aspyres ports were literally the absolute bare minimum. I dont know where you see their "love" for Star Wars
You will probably find that the bloated GB and quieter sound is because they have used uncompressed audio for a higher audio quality however that means the audio will generally be quieter and take up a lot more space
Jesus Christ the bootlicking doesn’t end does it? It’s lazy and half-assed. Nothing else.

I really hope they fix the issues with online. Growing up, I only ever played Split screen. So I am really excited to try playing games full of actual players.
Maybe this is already somewhat known, but the reason why the original BF2 still has PC multiplayer is because an update from years ago restored the servers after GameSpy died.
Considering I've played the OG versions of both games for almost 2 decades now, I feel like I've already seen the best of them. I'm thrilled that both games got a remaster for new and old fans, but for me, the lack of mod support kills this version even more than crossplay I think. OG BF2 mod support is so expansive and great that it makes it tough for me to get excited for something like this. Not to mention all the bugs mentioned in the video.
Also, 60 GB install? That seems to happen a lot these days and I hate that.
Yeah I know! And it runs better :S
Addon folders for both games are already known to be there, the game is moddable.
@@grannytoes7221being moldable and supporting the mods already out there are 2 different things to be honest.
@@Kolonol1 people say "the lack of mod support" and act as if it's un-moddable, which isn't true.

XL mode was my absolute FAVORITE!!! Before my computer went down and I never got a new one, those are some of the only maps I played
What is XL? I’ve only played on the Xbox version
@@jcgalvan26 pretty sure it stands for extra large but there is like 2-3 times the amount of units on the field at any given time. You could adjust the amount but I always set it to maximum.
I always thought it would be cool to put ALL of the units on the battlefield and just have a free for all...
The first one for me was more fun. Seeing the heroes running around being as strong as a hero should be and the yellow team being able to fight back and win. If they added AI heroes and the yellow teams into the 2nd I would never look back.
That’s really what they ought to have done is just splice the campaigns together, add the little bit of cut content from BF1 into 2, and just have it be a single game. They’re similar enough that I don’t see why they couldn’t have
If someone wants to play BF1 or BF2 Pandemic, just bought them on pc on steam. Very low computers can run both of them, with multiple mods/steam workshop :)
Is there ultrawide support?
for me personally i am getting it on PC for the splitscreen . so yeah, i do think its going to be worth it . still great review !
For those of you saying 60 gigs its for both the old gen and next gen versions combined. It’s actually 30. I dont know and or care if thats bad
I still play this game. That's how good it is.
Do you think you'll make any sort of update video depending on if the proper release has any patches?
If it improves the game I may!
I bought it for my Series X and I’m happy with it. Despite some bugs it was really cool to play through and achievement hunt my favorite childhood game all these years later.
I’m really hopping there is 32:9 support and if there is proper split screen with it then I think the game will be worth it for me on pc. I am having doubts though that it will be executed properly. The audio delay and multiplayer frame rate is atrocious though, I’d be curious to see if there the fps is still as bad on lan.
Im also hoping for Ultrawide support and even windowed mode, and not ONE reviewer have watched even shows the options. -_-
@@basdegroot3615 Yeah I have been looking man can’t find any information about ultrawide support. I also want 4:3 support because I game on a high refresh rate crt too, I will be super surprised if 4:3 doesn’t work.
I think the reception of this collection will really depend on the platform. On PC, it seems not worth it and cheap. On every other console, it feels like a really great release because a lot of people haven't been able to access it for a long time
I almost agree, however, you can run the old BF games on a laptop from 2010, hardware lots of us probably already has access to.
@@basdegroot3615 That's true, but many people can't be bothered to do so with a piece of technology they might not use very often. I think there's a lot to be said about the convenience of having it in an instant on the Switch or PS5 that people are likely to be using far more often.
@@basdegroot3615yes that’s basically what he already said, pc users don’t need to buy this but most console players don’t have an easy way to play bf2 so it’s more useful for them
100% agree. Granted, I bought it for PC for the splitscreen. But outside of that, it's really not worth it. The Remaster Project and Shader Patch mods already look 1000% better than any AI upscaling. There are already mods to restore the Xbox content and add hero assault to every map. Literally no real reason to buy this on PC unless you want the splitscreen. All the mods are still going to be for the classic game anyway! Especially now that so many mod authors have moved on and won't be updating their mods for the classic collection.
@@-CrimsoN-online is kinda janky and laggy in the og tho, that the only thing I hope they fixed and reworked for the collection. If not, its not worth a single dime for pc tbh
If theres 1 thing this collection made me do. It was to buy the originals before they get delisted off steam
Great video, love the technical details. I agree that It doesn't make too much sense to have BF1 here, they should have just made the maps from that available on BF2 and left it at that, in everyway that game is an upgrade to the original. THANK YOU for calling them out for trying to act like that and the DLC was new content and calling it what it is, an upscaled port that you might not play if the servers were still open for the original.
A few things I have questions about, things I decided I would have fixed when I played SWBFII to 100% on the 360 version I own on stream recently, things that should be fixed if they actually put some care into it and did more than just upscale it and open the console servers again.
1. Have they added any of the dlc content to galactic conquest or added any kind of randomization to the planets?
2. have they made the characters available through the leader bonus more random? (In the original, the character for the leader bonus in galactic conquest was locked in by the planet you are on and it felt like you only got to use one or two instead of the whole cast; for example playing as CIS you will never play as count dooku, ventress or the emperor, you will only play as maul or jango)
3. Have they made the AI smarter at all? does it still do stupid and infuriating things like attacking the same planet over and over again in galactic conquest or getting stuck and standing around having a seizure in a corner on the edge of the map somewhere?
4. Also, did they fix the map on Naboo where the AI gets stuck in that corner next to CP 3?
1. I didn't play through enough GC but I didn't see any DLC planets.
2. I think it's still context locked. (Heroes on their specific planets etc)
3. They were still pretty dumb to me so I couldn't confirm.
4. I don't think so.
Thank you soooooo much!!! I have been waiting to purchase. Guess I will wait a little longer till they get rid of the issues. If they don't then I will just stick with og ps2 version from time to time not online.
Western gamedev optimize the game size and compress textures challenge (impossible)
I played these games a ton back in the day, both solo and with friends.
If I can convince some of them to come back to this, well let's just say: "This is where the fun begins!"
Really good review!
Also i love that the medical droid actually started to "heal" your character even though the grenade killed you. 5:54
I love battlefront 2 but personally I think the first one is better, I like the maps it has more than in the sequel. Does suck you can't use heroes in it though
Mods do fix that I believe?
While it is disappointing that Aspyr have only done minimal improvements over the original version I think people are missing the point of this collection: it gives people who only own the latest generation of consoles the chance to play these legendary games. Not everyone has a PC and can play the original games and even less people have a PS2 at home nowadays.
Nevertheless the price is a bit exaggerated, without sale it costs 35€ which is equivalent to over 38$, so almost 40$ for a port with slightly better textures.
I bought it because it has native controller support on PC so it's perfect for my steam deck.
its been fully playable on xbox one (x,s) and series (s,x) for years. you can buy each games for a couple of bucks and visually this looks exactly the same but costs 3x the price.
@@mechayamcha but it has never been for Playstation 4 and 5

@@mechayamcha I don't have an xbox, nor would I want one. I already have a ps5, pc, and a steam deck so for me to have native controller support on pc is better for me and I'll gladly pay the price they want just to enjoy it on the go on my steam deck.
Public service announcement: There is NO OPTION to invert your Y-axis in this game.
My big question to whether ill buy or not is, are mods going to be focusing on these versions moving forward, and are the original servers going to be taken down
I actually think I have an explanation for the framerate being capped under 30 fps. You’ll see a lot of older games where the physics and other gameplay elements are directly tied to the frame-rate of the game, the original Skyrim is probably the most famous example, but another example is what happens when you try to play Titan Quest multiplayer on modern systems, it becomes an unmanageable lag fest on modern systems unless all players have manually gone into their graphics cards and capped the framerates at lower settings.
I was hoping you could clarify something for me as this is a huge factor whether I get the game or not.
Does this mean that Galactic Conquest can be played online and with friends? Is it only for Battlefront I or II as well? 5:36
Is the campaign for either game support online CO-OP with a friend? I assume not on this one.
The answer to both questions is no unfortunetly.
@@100StarWars what about split-screen on XL modes
I would assume so yeah.
@@100StarWars That’s a bummer. Thank you so much for answering my questions. I really appreciate.
That would be really cool if they’d done that. 20 years later, I feel like they could have but hey I’m not a software developer
The fact that Aspyr can keep putting out slop and people open their wallets for nostalgia alone is really disappointing.
Lucky for me I still have Battlefront II on four cds, and it works on Windows 10.
Whenever I run the multi-player for the second game on the original, the servers seem like they're made with rubber bands, I can't fight anyone or anything without teleporting or the shots not registering correctly. You experience with lag on that server is what I experience on the current battlefront II servers for the og game, so I'm really hoping that won't be a problem for the rest of this version when it launches.
“Significantly improved visuals” is being very generous. I’m glad they kept the gameplay & all the original modes, but there’s so much more they could’ve done to improve the graphics. That’s my only complaint.
No, it's not worth buying. It's only 2 players, the original was 4. This is a downgrade.

@@100StarWars damn thats an huge missed opportunity, what about bf1 naboo plains did they use the console version of that map cuz that one has starfighters on them wich are absent on the og pc version.
It's really depressing and bizarre now that we went from indie developers/studios making better games and content than most AAA studios to modders making games much better with more content than an actual studio developing or upgrading one.

They took what was already available through community mods for many years, packaged up the existing work, and are charging extra instead of making this a game update for the games which are already released. Terrible behavior, though not surprising from Aspyr and Disney.

I mean that's fair enough. It's an artistic choice.
For some reason, they've removed the original SWBF2 crosshair settings. I always liked disabling most of the crosshair and leaving just the small white dot. Also, I can't stand the yellow heat meter on the crosshair, I want to disable it. This has really disappointed me...
I dunno I remember the original Jedi knight on MSN gaming zone, the multiplayer on this looks better than I used to play that 😂 is this available on switch?
my only disappointing for this battlefront classic collection
1. could added psp spin off like elite squadron and renegade squadron into the collection
2. mod support on pc for mod community
I think I'll just stick to the original and all my mods tbh... do you know if they're adding mod support?
I have no clue.
The answers no, need for 18min of it. Eventually if they show the respect to the Battlefront community, people like me who streamed high quality streams, got others to buy it, the enthusiasm we showed, our sadness when BF2 2017 was over with no mention of BF3, talked with developers, made players excited to even play one weekends worth after they spent 60 usd....then, maybe. This was just about the last straw, there's no excuses for what this launch felt like.
Will the split screen work for campaign and galactic conquest? How is the fps during split screen. Im guessing there's nothing special going on and i could find out Tommorw but I would like ask anyway
I actually don't have access to a second controller so I couldn't even get into the split screen haha
@@100StarWars I see haha
@@thedarksaber split screen will work for Rise of the Empire and Galactic Conquest, the only downside to it is that they’re exclusive to offline modes so you can’t play those modes online
Great review! I'm glad you didn't go into this game with your rose tinted nostalgia googles turned up to 11 like most other reviewers did.
Gotta be as neutral as possible
9:47 how can anyone see this and think the new version looks better? original looks way better. better lighting w/ bloom. new one just has some crappy high rez textures but no soul or aesthetic sense. some extra pixels on some textures while retaining the same poly counts just looks bad plus without the lighting it looks totally sterile with no atmosphere.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
Yup, and Cloud City looks.... Eeeesh. Not good.
@@100StarWarsObjetivity exists. If it is missing visual effects from the original, the product is inferior.
Glad I watched this. I have the original two on Steam, so if I want to play a very clunky game, I can. This doesn't look to be the improvement I was looking for, so I can save my money and just remember the great times playing it on Xbox 360 back in the day!
How do I play with my friends? We’re both on ps5 but can’t party up or find the same server to play together
Most of the "bad" things seem patchable, so I really think patch updates will be rolling out as soon as it releases.
Yeah, it's very possible and I'm really hopeful it's all fixed come release!
@@100StarWarsI do have a question though. On the original BF games on PC, you could bind a key to changing between 1st and 3rd person views. However the console version of BF2 does not have this. Does the remastered version have this?
It does yeah.
@@100StarWars Great. Thank you so much.
Thing is these things shouldn't be patched to begin with. It shouldn't release broken at all, especially when there's a much cheaper version without these issues.
$35 and no crossplay wtf/??, ill wait until a sale
The playerbase will be dead by then. In part cuz of the lack of crossplay lol
never played the first one, but the second battlefront (classic 2005) was my go to game for playstation 2, absolutely smashed it everyday lol
I have the OG star wars battlefront 2 for xbox original and i have never seen that hero before. Maybe it was added for later copies
Is it me, or did the original with the lava look WAY better than the new HD version?
I’d rather get this instead of buying a whole ass computer
Your loss though. You'll be missing out on other classics like TIE Fighter and Empire at War.
@@michaelandreipalon359 debatable because some may not like those types of games
@@nighthare19 Never hurts to try them though. Many people have once adamantly refused to play games like Sins of a Solar Empire and Star Control II, and ended up regretting their lateness when they changed their minds a long time later.
@michaelandreipalon359 Yeah, you aren't wrong
Thank you for being honest.
So many bots are out here (especially on steam) telling people to buy it.
I actually preferred the original, and I never really got into 2 as a kid, though I’ll still go back to 1.
It’s hard to describe, but the gameplay just felt better. I preferred the lack of heroes, as everyone being a normal soldier who could die easily was a big part of the appeal. And BF2 really toned down some of the classes. The droids were definitely broken in 1, but being able to launch people in are with the Super Battle Droid’s rockets was a lot of fun, for example. The maps in the original are also much better.
