nah bt2 had wayyyyyyy better gameplay. ive played bt2 as a kid and bt2 again more recently and just played bt3 for the first time. its sooooo trashhh everything about it from the music to the UI to even the graphics somehow look worse. the gameplay is garbage and feels like some cheap flash game thats free online. its digusting anybodu that likes bt3 is an inferior human being with terrible taste
it's impressive how budokai tenkaichi 2 had some very good cutscine and if they had done that in tenkaichi 3 without being afraid to spend they would have done well because the game was a success
@@CraftTest943 Im don't think that was the case as PS2 games, like God of war 2 came on dual layered disc which gave you more space. I think they wanted to focus more on gameplay rather than cutscenes, which was a good decision on their part.
I think this is the only DBZ game by Spike with decent cutscenes. The rest are almost always 2 characters at most on scene with extremely static animation.

I’m sorry, I love BT3 but BT2 is my personal favorite. Not only was the story mode more fun and had cool cutscenes like this, the flying around the map part of the story mode and the OST was perfect and I think the OST in BT2 was way better and more memorable than BT3’s. The only thing I think BT3’s story mode did better was adding dialogue during the fights and the clicking R3 to trigger scenes/transformations, and Super/Ultimate attacks from the show/movies. As far as gameplay, they’re both basically the same, just BT3 of course improved on the speed, and added the blast attack combos and also made the camera automatically lock on at the beginning of the matches. Besides those, BT2 is better imo and I hope that Sparking Zero takes the best of both games and incorporates them into it especially the Story Mode quality from 2. If SZ has BT2’s quality story mode, I’ll be playing that game for years to come
Both are fantastic games and I enjoy playing them daily. BT2 also has some things that BT3 doesn't have in it's game play and same is the other way around. A guy called zeroaniliated has made great videos of BT2 and also explained the depth of the tenkaichi series. Such a shame he doesn't have much subscribers
@@omegabossking Same goes for a guy of jagger1407 iirc, he goes into depth how BT2 2 e.g. has more depth than BT3, interesting stuff and also hope he booms after sparking zero's release since he puts out great analysis and is a defo a pro to learn things from
Probably due to a lack of time as this game is on both the PS2 and Wii(a console they've never developed for),a good bit of their time was probably trying to figure out how to get the motion controls to work and they failed, thankfully it does have gamecube & classic controller support !
@@cranekick3808 I'd have to disagree, a good majority of Kakarot's cutscenes are done without voice acting and or limited animation despite the game priding itself on retelling the dbz storyline in an interesting way,now when those special moments are shown it's great,I'd agree there even better most of them than the ones shown here. Kakarot as a PS4/PC/Xbone/Switch game could've done so much better in the cutscene department.

Props for putting it all in chronological order my boy. As good as the third game is, this story mode was and still is the G.O.A.T on how they handled exploring the map for the world adding that Legacy of Goku gba games feel. Just to see these cutscenes on vital moments was pure hype. Especially coming from the first games lackluster...everything(except the music). Quality all around, but I can't wait to see the "why is this in 60 fps, now it's ruined" crew pop out the woodworks lol
I really wish the BT2 map would have made it into BT3, if not for the story mode (Since that was condensed way down) then for Dragon Sim, since exploring is half that mode anyways

Tenkaichi 2 really knew how to recreate the fighting scenes like most of the other DBZ games. Sure, the voice acting isn't as good, but I still think the story mode altogether was great. Bought most of the movies together. I still think it also has the best music compared to Tenkaichi 3
I think Kakarots major influence was the legacy of Goku series, which predates the tenkaichi series by a few years, and I can see Xenoverse also influence this game as well.

Back when the story mode had to be good because ppl weren't so superficial about graphics and companies couldn't hide behind DLC like they do now. I'm sorry if you are hating on this game just remember it came out in a time period when games had to have substance and not this era of rush to complete and just add DLC later.
I don't understand why these Spectacular Choregraphed Cutscenes in the BT2 Story Mode were all completely Discarded in the BT3 Story Mode in favor of the Event Button, I guess maybe it's because they were trying to save Money and Time or perhaps they couldn't Implented it possible due to the PS2 and Wii Memory Limitations.
Man they really couldn’t be bothered to put that destroyed Cell Games Arena in the games. Literally more than half the Cell Games happened when it became a barren wasteland. Should be in more games like Dying Namek. At least newer games are starting to put it in there like Xenoverse and Fighterz
I get what you're saying and tbh I just realized that,but it doesn't really bother me and if I remember correctly, some parts of the arena can be damaged when you're fighting which I think is better than having it already be destroyed; to add to that if an ultimate attack is strong enough you can turn the fighting arena into a wasteland,(depending on the stage ofc). So I think having a destroyed Cell arena would be kinda pointless.
My guess was it's because it was too time consuming and they wanted to focus more on improving the gameplay. That's probably the reason why Bt2 doesn't have too many of these cinematic cutscenes.
I think because Tenkaichi 3 was on the same consoles as 2 it came down to space limitations. They added more characters, more stages, more regular attacks, and more unique special moves. Models, textures and animations can take up quite a chunk of memory, so as a result, some things were cut back on. Namely: The number of songs, the expansiveness of the story mode (Though they added a handful of secret endings to missions), and cutscenes were removed altogether. I'd love a "Super Tenkaichi" sort of thing, with the fighting, characters, visuals, tournaments, modes (But include the towers from BT2) and stages from 3, but the world map and cutscenes from 2. Combine the soundtracks since 3 has a handful of good songs still, and maybe expand the Dragon Sim mode to also use BT2's worldmap. As for character customization, handled mostly like BT2 but with the new items and AI types from BT3 mixed in. I enjoyed being able to give a character a Health +19 or boost Blast 1 in BT2 but there's a lot of great items in BT3. You could do a lot of character tweaking with a best-of-both-worlds system done right

ROM: A regular ass consumer DVD can hold 4.7 GB, Tenkaichi 3 takes up 3.8 GB, there was plenty of space left on that disc RAM: A match consists of 3 main things, 2 Characters and 1 Stage - Character files take up about 900 KB, and this is including gameplay parameters + model and textures - A stage does not take up more than 8 MB, usually around 6 or 7 A processing technique called "culling" only renders those parts of a map that would currently appear on-screen. This technique is also used by Tenkaichi. If you use Dolphin's Free Look feature, you can zoom out to see it in action. This would cut down on rendering most of the map, meaning only a portion of those 6 or 7 MB are being put in VRAM, while the rest goes into the System memory The PS2 has 16KB fast-access Cache for CPU instructions, 32 MB of System Memory + the Graphical Unit has 4 MB of RAM for rendering. Even if you give a handicap, with char files being 1 MB and maps 8, you would still only reach 10 MB of RAM, leaving 22 MB of RAM just there, free to be used. And remember, from a technical standpoint, the Wii is better than the PS2 by a longshot. You can find the PS2 specs on Wikipedia, you can look at the file sizes of the character files and maps yourself by using AFS Explorer, I didn't make these numbers up. Remember that God of War, Devil May Cry 3, shit even GTA San Andreas were able to run on a PS2. Everytime you think about technical limitations, think about GTA San Andreas and how it runs on the PS2 without many issues. I'd just say the devs were probably bored of the story mode after T2, and wanted to focus on more creative stuff like Sim Dragon or Survival mode, because they 100% had enough space.
_These_ are the main reason why Tenkaichi 2 is _Better_ than Tenkaichi 3. Cause when you get down to it, Tenkaichi 3 tightened up fighting mechanics and increased the roster, but really took a lot of steps backwards in other areas. It makes me feel like these scenes should just be spliced into the game.

With 3 they wanted to give the experience of actually being in the battles and being able to enact the matches as you see fit instead of a set static story mode. Two different approaches both are good for what they are. The fans actually really liked BT3s story when it came out. If you want to full story with cut scenes play BT2 if you want to play the actual fights like your in the series play BT3
I keep wondering why the modding scene haven't made a pseudo remaster for Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that feature cutscenes like BT2's cinematics. They're clearly capable of creating new animation and assets. So why not?? Adapting Super into BT3 is great and all but with the insane amount of skill that's lying around at adding the latest sagas into the game-- can't we have more for the pre-Super sagas?? Imagine an extra stage for the Dragon Ball Saga: Strongest under Heaven (Mission Name) Teen Goku vs MaJunior 1st event: Beam Clash 2nd event: Giant Piccolo 3rd event: Piccolo Ultimate Attack (destroys map) 4th event: Goku's second wind 5th event: Piccolo's second wind, unavoidable rush blast 2 (switch to a different Goku model with hole in pecs; Wounded Teen Goku)-- segue into Wounded Teen Goku's ultimate that includes the memorable dive-from-the-sky last attack from Goku like in the show. _Perfection_

@@StallionFernando budokai 1's cutscenes were great but the gameplay, really wasn't that good. I do re-watch budokai 1's cutscenes from time to time and still enjoy them, but tenkachi 2 gameplay is just so much better, hence the reason why I played it so much over budokai 1. I still believe that the bt2 devs did the best they could with the cutscenes ,but there priority was gameplay, which worked out better in the long-run.
Tenkaichi 1 cutscenes were alright. Tenkaichi 2 cutscenes are the best since it has more models to show on screen and they move in a lot of directions. Unlike Tenkaichi 1 where they are limited to their starting point. Tenkaichi 3 has the worst cutscenes. no doubt.

Models, textures and animations can take up quite a chunk of memory, so as a result, some things were cut back on. Namely: The number of songs, the expansiveness of the story mode (Though they added a handful of secret endings to missions), and cutscenes were removed altogether.
I'd love a "Super Tenkaichi" sort of thing, with the fighting, characters, visuals, tournaments, modes (But include the towers from BT2) and stages from 3, but the world map and cutscenes from 2. Combine the soundtracks since 3 has a handful of good songs still, and maybe expand the Dragon Sim mode to also use BT2's worldmap. As for character customization, handled mostly like BT2 but with the new items and AI types from BT3 mixed in. I enjoyed being able to give a character a Health +19 or boost Blast 1 in BT2 but there's a lot of great items in BT3. You could do a lot of character tweaking with a best-of-both-worlds system done right

ROM:
A regular ass consumer DVD can hold 4.7 GB, Tenkaichi 3 takes up 3.8 GB, there was plenty of space left on that disc
RAM:
A match consists of 3 main things, 2 Characters and 1 Stage
- Character files take up about 900 KB, and this is including gameplay parameters + model and textures
- A stage does not take up more than 8 MB, usually around 6 or 7
A processing technique called "culling" only renders those parts of a map that would currently appear on-screen. This technique is also used by Tenkaichi. If you use Dolphin's Free Look feature, you can zoom out to see it in action. This would cut down on rendering most of the map, meaning only a portion of those 6 or 7 MB are being put in VRAM, while the rest goes into the System memory
The PS2 has 16KB fast-access Cache for CPU instructions, 32 MB of System Memory + the Graphical Unit has 4 MB of RAM for rendering. Even if you give a handicap, with char files being 1 MB and maps 8, you would still only reach 10 MB of RAM, leaving 22 MB of RAM just there, free to be used. And remember, from a technical standpoint, the Wii is better than the PS2 by a longshot.
You can find the PS2 specs on Wikipedia, you can look at the file sizes of the character files and maps yourself by using AFS Explorer, I didn't make these numbers up.
Remember that God of War, Devil May Cry 3, shit even GTA San Andreas were able to run on a PS2. Everytime you think about technical limitations, think about GTA San Andreas and how it runs on the PS2 without many issues. I'd just say the devs were probably bored of the story mode after T2, and wanted to focus on more creative stuff like Sim Dragon or Survival mode, because they 100% had enough space.

_These_ are the main reason why Tenkaichi 2 is _Better_ than Tenkaichi 3. Cause when you get down to it, Tenkaichi 3 tightened up fighting mechanics and increased the roster, but really took a lot of steps backwards in other areas.
It makes me feel like these scenes should just be spliced into the game.

wow i didnt know these cutscenes looked so good for how old this game is. i only played the third game and i just assumed that the games were too old to have cutscenes like these. just turns out that they were lazy with the third one
I wouldn't call it lazy, they prioritized the gameplay rather than cutscenes which I believed worked in BT3's favor.
With 3 they wanted to give the experience of actually being in the battles and being able to enact the matches as you see fit instead of a set static story mode. Two different approaches both are good for what they are. The fans actually really liked BT3s story when it came out.
If you want to full story with cut scenes play BT2 if you want to play the actual fights like your in the series play BT3

I keep wondering why the modding scene haven't made a pseudo remaster for Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that feature cutscenes like BT2's cinematics.
They're clearly capable of creating new animation and assets. So why not??

@@OmegaBlacky no they didn't budokai 1 had better cut scenes, looks at the body animations in this game, the same ones recycled over and over and voice dub is comically off sync.
@@StallionFernando budokai 1's cutscenes were great but the gameplay, really wasn't that good. I do re-watch budokai 1's cutscenes from time to time and still enjoy them, but tenkachi 2 gameplay is just so much better, hence the reason why I played it so much over budokai 1. I still believe that the bt2 devs did the best they could with the cutscenes ,but there priority was gameplay, which worked out better in the long-run.
Tenkaichi 1 cutscenes were alright.
Tenkaichi 2 cutscenes are the best since it has more models to show on screen and they move in a lot of directions. Unlike Tenkaichi 1 where they are limited to their starting point.
Tenkaichi 3 has the worst cutscenes. no doubt.
