- Natural Bridge is a stunning natural attraction located in the western part of Springbrook National Park in Queensland, Australia. Here are some key details about it:
Formation: The Natural Bridge is a picturesque rock formation created by the force of a waterfall over a basalt cave. The waterfall flows through the arch, forming this unique feature.
Glow-Worms: The water-formed cave within the rock arch is home to a luminous colony of glow-worms. These fascinating creatures can be best seen during summer evenings.
Access: Natural Bridge is easily accessible from the Nerang-Murwillumbah Road car park. Visitors can follow an easy one-kilometer circuit (walking in a clockwise direction) to descend through the ancient Gondwana rainforest and reach the rock arch.
Wildlife: During the day, you might spot various bird species like paradise riflebirds, green catbirds, and wompoo fruit-doves. Rare and threatened species such as the cascade tree frog, tusked frog, sooty owl, and koala also inhabit the area.
Nocturnal Tours: At night, consider joining a guided nocturnal tour to see the resident colony of protected glow-worms and microbats. On summer nights, you might also encounter luminous fungi and fireflies.
Restricted Area: Part of Cave Creek in the Natural Bridge section is a Restricted Access Area to prevent the risk of injury or death. Swimming in the creek, including within the cave, and access to the creek bank are prohibited.
Camping: If you plan to explore the glow-worm caves at night, there is one camping area in Springbrook National Park called “The Settlement” camping ground.
