Straight after I paid him his $10 bucks for saying that on camera as planned 🤣in all honesty, an imprompt moment that I got on camera and I was feeling pretty chuffed.
Cheers Scotty. Swag on a river bank is a perfect combo! Though a little squashy when sharing with your six year old boy 🤣 Thanks for Trout fishing tips .. this year I'm pretty keen to learn how to fly fish.
Thanks for watching mate. Ha ha I made Ethan sit down on the track while i walked back along it twice and couldn't find it. I actually lost my microphone from my camera on the track as well but did manage to find that. My trusty old billy has gone on to pot heaven unfortunately and will be buried somewhere under blackberries for all eternity or until someone else finds it 😂
@@Lukeslittletribe You can just tell him the Yowies have it! Be careful feeding Ethan too much more of those trout, the young lad will be bigger than you soon the way he's going. Makes me so happy to see how much he enjoyed the adventure with his old man - creating core memories for sure. I've added this general area as of interest to my alpine hiking plans for the coming year too, so thank you for that. Have you considered doing a freshwater fishing basics video? I haven't been fishing since I was a kid, and would love to get involved again. Hope you and the family are happy and healthy mate, all the best. W
@@williampower9583 Yeah I highly recomend the Licola area ... such a playground for adventures and so much to offer. The Macmillens walking track looks like a great multi day walk. Also the great alpine walk is within that area. At the moment I have just been trying to learn more about freshwater fishing myself. I have always done a lot of ocean fishing off the rocks or with sling gun. So I'm kind of learning myself, But I certainly will share that learning journey in my vids and what I have found works and not. Have a great new year William.
Awesome job Luke - loved that one. Having experienced the McAlister River for the first time this year it certainly brought back memories of that beautiful place!!
@@Lukeslittletribe your welcome mate, yours is one of the few channels our whole family likes to watch together, thanks for the effort you put into it! Hope the new year brings success for you.👍

AlrightI will give you a clue ... you won't find it on google maps, but look up the Jamieson - Licola Adventure map and look up Lyndon flat on the Macalster river ... keep it clean, keep it quiet 😉
Thanks for watching Dario, Yeah it's great to see the kids get into it. This is near the Licola area. Send us an email address and I can tell you the road the camp is on (rather not post it publically online)

Absolutly mate .. it's so good getting out there! Nah not rude at all haha Sometimes I get strange looks when I'm out with my kids cause they don't look like me ... but they are fully biologically mine 😂 I lived in Africa for 10 years and as a result met my wife over there (their mother) who is Ugandan. So my kids are half Aussie half African. But I'm fairly happy they got their mothers looks and not mine haha

Alright Luke, some unsolicited advice comin' your way mate. I've been fishing the high country successfully for nearly seven decades and have a fair idea of what's what. When fishing, you look all at sea and quite ungainly. First, you are a right hander. See if you can change that reel of yours to a left hand wind. Your right hand and arm are for casting the line, holding the rod and wrangling (fighting) a fish. It's where all your fine motor skills are - you need to use these. You shouldn't need to change hands after casting. Winding the reel should be with your left hand - no fine motor skills or strength needed. It's nothing more than a circular winding motion. Hold the rod with fingers either side of the reel's leg, where it joins the rod grip. You'll find it's a much more balanced set-up from there and you'll be able to control/hold the line with your index finger. Holding it near the rod butt makes it ungainly and difficult to use those fine motor skills. It's too long of a lever to manage deftly. When bringing in fish, I winced twice when I saw you grab the rod up towards the tip. A recipe for a disaster. You are a Monty to break a rod tip doing that. They're too expensive for that mate and you don't want to be out on an isolated river with a broken rod. Great to see you out and about with your boy - if he's like me, he'll grow up and carry an abiding love of our bush, the mountains and the streams and the life within it all. Go well . . . Bill.
Cheers Bill! I always appreciate some advice / critisicm when it's done in good faith! My background has always been mucking around in the ocean spear fishing and only got into trout fishing over the last year. I'll be honest, I've been fishing heavily for the last 3 years (coastal etc) and I always get ripped into by my mates for the way I do it 😂 I'm def no pro, but I'm loving it immensly. I've always been like that though haha from surfing to, skating to bmx .. just been a bit goofy and off with my style. But I'll take what you've said to heart (although I have another trout fishing vid coming out next week which is sure to make you wince a few more times 😂)
