    I have watched many videos of this village but, you are the first one to show the souvenir shops! I love the miniature houses with real straw roofs. You took many good shots of the houses too. Thank you from New Mexico, USA.

    I'm writing this from Poland (Chopin's country) because I'm shocked at how similar our architecture is! Mountain villages in Poland once looked identical! Unfortunately, people replace old houses with new ones, and only in some places (e.g. the Bieszczady Mountains) have entire towns of this kind been preserved. We have a huge tourist town with similar architecture called Zakopane (literally: buried in the snow). If you ever want to see Chopin's places, maybe you will find time to see a mountain village? Zakopane is already very touristy - it is a resort with hotels, but smaller towns have their old charm 😊❤

    What a wonderful trip, thank you for taking us with you. The views are dreamy! It is also very nice that you show recording of people speaking Japanese. I'm learning the language so hearing it here gives me another opportunity to hear native speakers in real situations.

    What a beautiful village! I haven't lived in a place with snow for over 25 years, so I like to look at it, but that's it! haha! Very interesting the different aspects of Japan, as you said, from beaches to snow. And your meal looked interesting how you cooked it at your table. I really enjoy these types of videos Taiji, so thank you for letting me experience a bit of your home country. 🙂

    Thank you for sharing! Such a beautiful place! The structure of that roof is amazing. All those logs are tied together, that must require not only craftmanship but knowledge too! What is the life expectancy of such a roof?
    Here we also have some traditional roofs made of reed, they last surprisingly long.

    • @taijiskitchen
      @taijiskitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, most defiantly!

    Though I laughed when you said it was cold. It doesn't look like it could be that much colder then -5C. The sidewalk was slushy so to me that's quite warm. I'm from Canada; last weekend was about -29C with the windchill, now that's what I call cold!

    Shirakawa-go is on my list of places I wanted to visit. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of snow (it's nice to look at, but I don't want to be out walking around in it - I guess being a Swede and having to deal with Swedish winter has turned me off, haha) which is one of the reasons why I keep putting it off. One good thing to come out of covid though is the realization that life is short and that I need to stop putting things off until "later" so I will definitely make sure to visit in the near future.
