    If you aren't a huge track fan you'll not even understand how special Gardiner can go. He has mastered the art of relax running. Watching this man run the 400m compared to other ELITE athletes is like watching Usain Bolt run the 100m. He just stands out among the stand outs, his form looks like it's from another planet. I have never seen a more relaxed runner on the 400m, he looks like he's not aware of the competition. He can go sub 43. I think 42.78 is a bold damn statement, but a 42.89-.91 certainly seems like a possibility.

    • @pugita1232
      @pugita1232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oregon is a "fast track". That's why most U.S athletes ran incredible times at trials there but they failed to replicate their performances at the big stage.
      Look at the Women's 100m at the 2016 olympic trials. Gardner, Bowie and Bartoletta all run under 10.8 in the finals.
      Then in Tokyo Bartoletta didn't qualify for the finals, and both Bowie and Gardner ran 10.83 and 10.94 respectely in the olympic final. Way far from their trials times.

    Michael Johnson's 400 meter run was probably one of the greatest in history because of how long it lasted. I'm talking about the record of course, not the actual race. His record was not beaten for 20 years. We're getting very close to the limit of human speed for that distance, but I think we could keep chipping away bit by bit every decade or so.

Wade crushed it, perfect setting like you said and he took advantage of that. Hell, no one has even come close to MJs old record, why do peeps all the sudden think 43.02 or sub 43 is possible…it’s not. I’m 50 and I’ll be shocked if it’s broken in my lifetime. I'm not an expert and I'm speaking purely out of my personal experience and some physics. If bb only he could position his spine to be as much neutral as possible. Watch his back while sprinting. He is flying, effortlessly, but if he leaned his chest just a little bit forward, i believe he could gain a couple of hundredths of a second. Believe me, there's a lot of stress on the spine when running like this, especially running that fast. Anyway, I'd love him to improve that segment and witness, let's be optimistic, 42:95 or a few hundredths more.

    All Gardner needs is to better his form by leaning forward a bit more ; relaxing his upper body by not clinching his fingers into a fist and swinging his arms a bit more to letting his long stride work at it's peak. Many coaches and 400 runners can see that he will break the 43 If he keeps improving his running technique.
