Just wanted to say Congrats on 400k!! Been with you since 17k! Happy to see someone as good as you get the recognition you deserve! Keep it up my friend!
He reminds me how Flo-Jo became the GOAT in 1988, when she was 28 yo already. Huge training to gain power with weightlifting, repeated and methodical refinement on the start (still his/her weak point) until reaching a decent performance in that phase and not losing too much at the very beginning, compared to naturals in starting like Coleman. But, most of all, the physical power of maintaining top speed longer than anyone else, thru “relaxation”. I mean, if you are not strong enough, you literally *cannot* stay relaxed in the final 40 meters, since you begin running out of fuel and you have to force yourself to avoid slowing down too much. But you do: look at the facial expression of the other runners, compared to Marcello: he stays relaxed and keeps going almost at top speed because he is the physically strongest sprinter around, like Flo-Jo was. They seem to even accelerate in the last 20-30 meters, but that is not true: Marcel (as Flo-Jo did) stays fast, while all the other ones have to decelerate. I cannot say anything about the future, since he looks very strong, but he could have physical problems as he unfortunately did in the past: even a small grain of sand might turn that incredible superhuman running engine back into a normal man. But if this not happens, if he stays top fit, he can run 9.70 this year, and get the 100 m world title for Italy. Usain Bolt with his 9:58 record, maybe is too much for Marcello: Bolt was pure talent you have once in a century, I mean. But nevertheless, it’s just an unbelievable delight talking about an Italian athlete reaching the top of the world, like he did three times in a row! Grazie Marcello, Italy does not deserve you, however GRAZIE RAGAZZO, we love you, keep running our dream alive.
Bolt's long legs and quick turnover made his top speed unmatchable, but his form was always all over the place. Jacob's however is just picture perfect. Relaxed, beautiful and consistent. He doesn't have Bolt's raw explosiveness, but he has not reached his peak yet. 9.7 is very possible. mid 9.6's maybe. I personally don't think anyone is beating Bolt's record anytime soon, but please, Signore Jacobs, prove me wrong.
Usain Bolt has scoliosis. But yeah Usain Bolt accelerated quicker than every other sprinter in history besides Su Bingtian and not only that he kept going with those long strides and went as quick as 9.58.
Your assessment and comparison has merits. Even Bolt's coach speculated that Usain could run sub 9.50 if he stopped shifting all over the place. He though Bolt rocking from side to side was taking away from his forward propulsion. He also thought that if Bolt would run through the last 15 or 10m instead of cantering, it would be a sure thing. As per Bolt, he claimed that no one can past him 90m into a race if the person did not already have the lead. His 9.58 is no pushover! I always contend that it will take an athlete almost as tall to break his records and one that's equally fast or faster.
Didn't know my guy was a long jumper....now I know why he looks like he's doing a "run up" to the board! When I watch him sprint, he just always reminded me of a guy getting ready to long jump.
If this guy is running fast times, is consistent and winning global events that means he is really a great sprinter but it doesn't mean he will break the world record in that event. Remember the second ,third, fourth and 5th fastest man of all time were in their prime in between 2008-2016 ( Asafa Powell is exception) , ran some of the fastest times in the history and still got smoked by a guy who wasn't even trying. There's a fine line between being Great and being Greatest Of All Time.
The content on this channel is really good, so please stop with the incessant clickbait. Viewers are going to start tapping out when every title is "Most STUNNING And SHOCKING Running Moment of ALL-TIME!!!" And then it's about some college runner getting the 4th-fastest indoor 500m time in school history.
I have been saying all along that his lower body biomechanics are perfect and now I see why - his training focuses intensely on biomechanics. People have no idea how important biomechanics are in the 60m - 100m sprints.
To beat 9.58 would be extremely difficult. It’s roughly 2-3 metres ahead of his 100m PB & what helped make it possible for Bolt was the amount of ground he covered with each stride, being 6’5”. I don’t think Jacobs will break it but if there’s anyone who can, it would be him. The fact he’s so relaxed in his speed maintenance phase is remarkable
Not true at all. Look at noah and blake. They are both 5ft10 and have the best speed maintenance in history with the 2 fastest second half of the 100m in the 200m in history... This whole height thing is bs
As a Jamaican Marcell Jacobs is my new favorite men’s sprinter. I hope he does well but to beat Usain Bolt time is a tough order. Let’s see if he can do it.
Come italiano, penso che Jacobs, se la buona forma lo assisterà, ha la possibilità di diventare il secondo miglior velocista di tutti i tempi, secondo solo a Bolt.
with incredible speed endurance being the main reason he's won both major finals he's made so far, one has to wonder what he could do over 200m with the correct training for said distance
Lamont Marcell Jacobs is 'unusual' in many aspects His transition from long jumper to 100 meter dash we're amazingly smooth and very fast, the way he ran...the way he ran, kinda weird in my eyes but lightning fast... He's holding back something 🤔, not done yet Soon, under 9.70 If he works real hard, he would break Usain Bolt's world record IMHO, Lamont Marcell Jacobs is the best (and currently, the only) sprinter with potential of breaking Bolt's record I don't see no other
I think jacobs can definitely hit 9.7 but idk bout 9.6. I’m gonna predict around 9.73-9.75 this season if he could get those times they will get him to around top 5 Edit: wow I didn’t know I would get this many likes thanks lol. 69 likes
We'll see how things play out, as for Marcel Jacobs progression in The 100 Meter Sprint. As Jacobs puts in the Work in every phase of his training, focus, discipline, and the Will To Win, who knows what can Happen!
He's as technically sound as I've seen any sprinter in a very long time - no wasted movement at all! You can also see his power relative to other sprinters, it's superior, and he looks as if he is just starting to tap into that. That record will be under threat.
A few years ago the hype was about Coleman breaking his record. Michael Johnson said in ‘09 that the person to break his record wasn’t born yet. I don’t see anyone breaking his record any time soon.
@@razorr_o Not sure. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Bolt could have easily lowered that a few more times during his career. In the ‘08 Games, he eased up at the end and Oto Bolden said he threw away a 9.59. “Scientists” concluded that he could have ran 9.52 then. His coach was made in at the London Games in ‘12, saying he could have ran 9.48.
I think there’s at least a possibility that the person to break Bolt’s record was 5 years old at the time. Erriyon Knighton probably has as much potential to do it as anyone’s ever had. He didn’t run much 100m last year, but I’m pretty certain he could’ve run a 9.9 had he really tried. At the very least he has the potential to get the 200m record.
Proud of him and happy for his country. (Born in El Paso 😏) But I’ll pay more attention when he gets down to the lower 9.7s for a run at the world record. which is totally possible at his current age. If Gatlin was able to hold world class speed til he retired at 40, there’s plenty of fast times to come from that young man Jacobs. 👍

That's called exaggeration. Bolt's 9.58 was a perfect race. Great start and drive phase and he ran relaxed through to the line with no showboating. His 200m best he pushed too hard in the first 100m and was gassed by the last 50m and his form suffered terribly. He said after that it was a bad race for him but it was fast. And the thing is, i really believe that he still hasn't reached his peak, in my opinion he has the potential to reach the 9,6 times.
@KAT facts
Marcell Jacobs underwent 18 doping checks including urine and blood tests. Only four since he arrived in Tokyo.
Not unknown in Europe
@@gabrielzadoni2149 mi ricordo una intervista in cui diceva che era migliorato grazie alla mental coach. La Caporale gli ha risposto: meno male. Marcell , andavi sempre in blackout prima di una gara.
Just wanted to say Congrats on 400k!! Been with you since 17k! Happy to see someone as good as you get the recognition you deserve! Keep it up my friend!
I think he can run under 9.7 this year, but definitely not under 9.6
Really! He’s not gonna run the world record I really thought he was, bro wdym run under 9.6 lol
He will safe the 9,6 for Paris 2024 ;)
@Simbé sry that was just supposed to be a joke but ok
She is no GOAT.
@@devertonpasley4942 so who is then, according to you, great expert?
BTW, here I am talking about Jacobs, not about Flo-Jo. Now breathe normally.
@@MassimoZucchettiprof Haha. Well if ww are talking about Jacobs he is very impressive.
Ô/
Flo Jo was on drugs
Bolt's long legs and quick turnover made his top speed unmatchable, but his form was always all over the place. Jacob's however is just picture perfect. Relaxed, beautiful and consistent. He doesn't have Bolt's raw explosiveness, but he has not reached his peak yet. 9.7 is very possible. mid 9.6's maybe. I personally don't think anyone is beating Bolt's record anytime soon, but please, Signore Jacobs, prove me wrong.
Bolt's form was good when he gets it right. Like when it's good, it's really good. Just look at the 2009 100m final in Berlin.
Usain Bolt has scoliosis. But yeah Usain Bolt accelerated quicker than every other sprinter in history besides Su Bingtian and not only that he kept going with those long strides and went as quick as 9.58.
Don't forget that Bolt had scoliosis and one of his feet was shorter than another
I agree, i can definitely see Jacobs reaching 9,69 - 9,66
Your assessment and comparison has merits. Even Bolt's coach speculated that Usain could run sub 9.50 if he stopped shifting all over the place. He though Bolt rocking from side to side was taking away from his forward propulsion. He also thought that if Bolt would run through the last 15 or 10m instead of cantering, it would be a sure thing. As per Bolt, he claimed that no one can past him 90m into a race if the person did not already have the lead. His 9.58 is no pushover! I always contend that it will take an athlete almost as tall to break his records and one that's equally fast or faster.
Very insane. He really can go even further beyond what he has showcased. It will be great to see how he goes to reaching even greater heights
Didn't know my guy was a long jumper....now I know why he looks like he's doing a "run up" to the board! When I watch him sprint, he just always reminded me of a guy getting ready to long jump.
Yes!! The knees up...toe touching. Completely agree.
@@aimeegintz2930 👍
A great long jumper, too.
Lamont is just getting started
If this guy is running fast times, is consistent and winning global events that means he is really a great sprinter but it doesn't mean he will break the world record in that event.
Remember the second ,third, fourth and 5th fastest man of all time were in their prime in between 2008-2016 ( Asafa Powell is exception) , ran some of the fastest times in the history and still got smoked by a guy who wasn't even trying.
There's a fine line between being Great and being Greatest Of All Time.
You are right
Powell had a psychological problem in big finals he found it easier in Diamond league
Bolt only has two times faster than Gay's or Blake's PB...
its running elegance, recalls Carl Lewis
Ferdinand Omanyala from Kenya just did 9:75 the other day. He's also keen on getting to Bolts record.
It was a 9.77 and he ran it in Kenya.
Altitude + he was dope due to the fact he ran it in his country.

Great upload buddy. Love the attention to detail. Bless up 👊
I have been saying all along that his lower body biomechanics are perfect and now I see why - his training focuses intensely on biomechanics. People have no idea how important biomechanics are in the 60m - 100m sprints.
What people? Go to any track in any country and sprinters are drilling technique
@@stretch8390 True. I meant non-sprinters.
*Jacob's training method is revolutionary it's gonna be used world wide now*
To beat 9.58 would be extremely difficult.
Yes bolt stride is the big difference. It was thought tall athletes were more favourable for long jumps.
Not true at all. Look at noah and blake.
They are both 5ft10 and have the best speed maintenance in history with the 2 fastest second half of the 100m in the 200m in history...

He is going to be the new record holder!
Excellent video with outstanding production values. Well done.
Lamont Marcell Jacobs is 'unusual' in many aspects
His transition from long jumper to 100 meter dash we're amazingly smooth and very fast, the way he ran...the way he ran, kinda weird in my eyes but lightning fast...
He's holding back something 🤔, not done yet
Soon, under 9.70
If he works real hard, he would break Usain Bolt's world record
IMHO, Lamont Marcell Jacobs is the best (and currently, the only) sprinter with potential of breaking Bolt's record
I don't see no other
He's not touching that record.
Bolt is a different level!
Well the the sport in general and the 100 m specifically need athlete like him … you go bro

I think jacobs can definitely hit 9.7 but idk bout 9.6. I’m gonna predict around 9.73-9.75 this season if he could get those times they will get him to around top 5

We both share the same opinion on the matter. The best I see Jacobs achieving is low 9.7s.
Coleman can also don’t count him out
Yeah if he really focus on sprint since 17 he could get wr but his getting little older which I don't see that happening
We'll see how things play out, as for Marcel Jacobs progression in The 100 Meter Sprint. As Jacobs puts in the Work in every phase of his training, focus, discipline, and the Will To Win, who knows what can Happen!

It seems that he is the fusion of Pietro Mennea and Carl Lewis. Next level of sprinting, 9.69 this season
I can see him going 9.70-9.75, but to beat Bolt's record is a very, very tall order.
He's as technically sound as I've seen any sprinter in a very long time - no wasted movement at all! You can also see his power relative to other sprinters, it's superior, and he looks as if he is just starting to tap into that. That record will be under threat.
Wait you do know what the record is right it's a long way out of his reach.

A few years ago the hype was about Coleman breaking his record.
Michael Johnson said in ‘09 that the person to break his record wasn’t born yet. I don’t see anyone breaking his record any time soon.
Yeah, I'm starting to think that the person to break the record wasn't born in 2009 too.
How about now? Is that person born 13 years later?
@@razorr_o Not sure. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Bolt could have easily lowered that a few more times during his career. In the ‘08 Games, he eased up at the end and Oto Bolden said he threw away a 9.59. “Scientists” concluded that he could have ran 9.52 then. His coach was made in at the London Games in ‘12, saying he could have ran 9.48.
@@razorr_o Probably.
Awesome
Proud of him and happy for his country. (Born in El Paso 😏)
But I’ll pay more attention when he gets down to the lower 9.7s for a run at the world record. which is totally possible at his current age. If Gatlin was able to hold world class speed til he retired at 40, there’s plenty of fast times to come from that young man Jacobs. 👍
i do not consider him an Italian
@@thomasdematteo2281 Your opinion is irrelevant, the only thing that counts is that Jacobs considers himself as "100 % italian". I mean he even struggles to speak english, stop joking man :D
@@gabrielzadoni2149 and I can consider myself Chinese this is why I think National Olympic committees should be abolished and we should only let the last top 40 individuals in each event complete without any Flags or even Olympic award ceremonies let their sponsors promote them it would also be nice to see the real best-in-the-world instead of leaving people home because each nation is limited to three athletes that is the only reason I'm at Jacob's is competing for Italy

From 9:80 to 9:58 seems highly unlikely anytime soon.
yep , i can see one Us sprinter going faster than 9.80 this year . They will be waiting for Jacobs in Eugene , thats clear
I am just happy to see the crown held by a country other than the US or Jamaica. I hope this is not an anomaly but a sign of things to come.
He’s ability and running techniques are picture perfect but I don’t think he’s going to take Bolt’s time down.
I love this guy. Goooo Jacobs!
"His global dominance has lead to high levels of fatigue." Nicely said so I think he rested to avoid unwanted injuries, so his body will adapt to new workloads and to maintain that zest for his training and sprinting. 👍

No, can’t see anyone breaking that record 🤔
Not only he's the most relaxed all the way while the others are huffin' n puffin.
Also he's the most gorgeous looking of all with model looks.
Actually, Elaine Thompson is the most relaxed sprinter I've ever seen.
Thank you for this comment.
The problem is that he staretd as 100 runner at 25. Now he is 29. This outdoor world championship is the last chance to complete his metal table.
I think time is in his favor, literally. The man has been training 100m exclusively for only about 3 years and is at the top right now... imagine what kind of improvements he can do in the next few years... I don't think he'll plateau any time soon, especially with all the technology in his training.
I guess, he has a 0.1 of a second in front of him

yes there will be give it some time there’s talent otw way trust the entire world is evolving don’t speak to soon 🤧
To this day if you subtract reaction time Yohan Blake has the fastest 200m of all time and his form was perfect all the way through. Study that race. He ran 19.26.
@@gmaxsfoodfitness3035 his coach said that he still had mistakes and plus bolt wasn’t fresh that day with a 2.0 tailwind and a very fast track. Plus he ran this fast after 2 years of the 100m
Let’s go!!!!!!! Let them records fall to the most deserving, hardworking athletes.
As any sprinter knows the difference between 9.58 & 9.80 is massive. Advances in track & sprinting spikes technology is lowering times, perfect conditions help but without that Jacobs is a 9.75 sprinter at best.
