I can't explain, or even understand the appeal of Vostoks, but it is a strong appeal. I started with a Komandirskie, then two, then three, then an Amphibia with 420 case. Now all I wear is a Vostok. I have used these watches for 4 years, they never failed me! I used them in very difficult conditions, heat, cold, mortar, sand, water and other cops that are on the construction site! They are very user-friendly, and for such a price, it's better to not find the exact variant! When there are scratches on the glass, they can easily be eliminated and will be again like new ones!
I just ordered the same model Amphibia as yours..I was attracted to it because it’s a real dive watch for not a lot of money, it’s apparently built like a tank, and it’s an original design
And I know why I like Vostoks...they’re well built and can take a beating....And the fact you can get a Russian Watch is cool....25 -30 years ago the Only Russian things in the US Were Ivan Drago and Smirnoff Vodka.
3 years on and today YT figures this is a good time to recommend it. Never mind, Vostok videos are good. I don't have any Vostoks myself yet (arcane import laws and sucky currency rates in my country), but I completely get the appeal - I have it just looking at the on YT. Casio and old Timex are the same - once the bug bites you can't get enough of them and the expensive stuff tends to sit in the box unused

These watches were designed for the military in the USSR, it was impossible to buy them in the store. They donated for good work, this is a legend and not just a watch. This is pure mechanics
just got a komandirskie from meranom last week. no problems tracking the shipping. took about 2 and a half weeks to reach me in Scotland, 2 of which were spent crossing Russia (Russian post seems to be slow as a week in the jail) and 2 or 3 days once it left their shores. still, no complaints as I was expecting that and meranom appear to be trustworthy from my experience.

it is very unique watch. because it is so underrated and some people feel it ugly and feel cheap with cheap hardware that people tend to forget about it... but to me, it is so gorgeous, robust and unique that make it love at first sight more than other watches. i'm planning to wear both my vostok amphibia 710634 on my right wrist & seiko skx007 on my left wrist... cheers. :)

I ended up putting a waterproof leather band on my Amphibia (420 case), black with white stitching. It is super comfortable and looks great on the watch.
The backdraw nowadays is if ordering a Vostok from Russia it takes about 6-8 weeks to arrive in western-Europe. Before all this Corona shit happend it was here within 2 weeks!!
I put on plain bezel from watching vid on 'just one more watch' and put on cool nato. Awesome field watch for less than $100.00 & if you look around get relumed for about $50.00.
My Vostok got to the American border and was sent back to Russia and I'm not sure why. I was told that it was sent out again. I do hope I receive it soon. Just waiting I guess.

I'm guessing one of the reasons why these watches have an appeal, is because they create an internal nostalgic narrative of taking us back to a particular time or place. We certainly don't buy them to keep accurate timekeeping.
I seldom go for "stylish watches but for practical every day wear. At 80 I don't have to be stylish. These watches are as someone said "They are the AK47 of watches, go through mud puddles, swamps, deserts and the still keep time."
I've not heard of Barton straps before.. They look superb (quick release is great) . I noticed they are quite expensive [compared to other similar straps] here is the UK (£35/$47).. Worth it?
That's pretty pricey. I think they are great straps. But I'd have a hard time paying that. I have the same issue in the states with watch gecko. They're stuff is nice, just too expensive over here. Cheers

I don't use a winder, but mine has never stopped in the middle of the night. Pretty decent power reserve on these. If its stopping in a winder, there may be an issue. Cheers

The Russian Timex keeps on ticking takes a licking.! Vostok I love the TANK, I HAVE 6 in my Budget of 31 watches. 🤫🤫🤫 Timex, Vostok, & Chinese watches. There are times I switch watches during the day. All bring a 🙂 all the time & the story behind the watches along with why did I buy this watch. Of course the wife just rolls her 👀 when I talk watches or buy a watch. LOL this is why budget. Have two Timex over 40+ years. It’s nice not to have to worry about a $,$$$.00 watch & wearing it. Newer Komandirskiye models have same SS case like Amphibia. They are amazing, some of them have 24h dial, side second hand, damn! I've ordered 3 more pieces just a couple of days ago, for myself and as a gift!
I wonder what is happening now with this brand on foriegn sales with all the restrictions currenly on Russian products. I have ordered two different modals but from a U.S. Source with them in stock.

There are many vintage options for formal occasions, but if you want new, there's the new Vostok Classica.

Using these watches on a construction site is probably the best way to test how durable these watches are.

Yes...after regulating...
Mine was about 50 sec fast a day...2416b movement....after regulating its still 25 secs fast. I can live with that...after all its not a quartz.
Well rolex is still way more accurate.
