Yeah Brighton is an area of Boston so likely that is where the inspiration comes from.
A lot of this seems to be inspired by MAss actually. Newton, Franklin, Chester, Unsure other things but those are all areas of Mass in general. Could be all coincidence though.

Saddest thing is that FL’s been in development for *3 years,* and it still looks like some very very very early access slop. I gave it a pass on year one, but like.. there’s only so many passes one can give before things start to get clunky.

I like that they modeled the cruiser on a Boston Police Department design. The plate is clearly Mass inspired (though not a police plate), the livery is extremely close. It uses the same colors and some of the same design features that Boston PD does. Biggest deviations from the BPD design are the vehicle/unit number location, which is typically on the rear quarter (the district marking is roughly where it belongs... D-4 in Boston is Back Bay) and the roof marking, which BPD doesn't really do.
Edit: Also, there is a Boston neighborhood called Brighton (D-14), which makes it even better.
The subway system is NY though lol
Also, I noticed that the plates even say "The Spirit of America" which is the MA plate slogan.
Even the main map 35:52 looks like Boston itself.

Shit, the GTA larping is actually really bad. There are amazing communities and mods for it but it's like putting many bandaids on massive lacerations. This is already way better.

I like that they make you work for progression. The progression status should include your rank as an officer going from recruit to sergeant, etc too with each new rank requiring much more time on the job than the last to get to the next rank.

Wow, how has this happened. A Police simulator has come out that actually looks pretty damn impressive and in depth. It’s a dream I’ve been hoping for, for years. Normally I’m just disappointed whenever I see police sim gameplay, which is why I had given up, and didn’t even bother to look at this.
Looks like I was wrong, will be purchasing day one.

This game looks good and definitely enjoyable and realistic for us who enjoy police sims, but i hope that when they add the open world we will have as much freedom as in LSPDFR
Open world is planned, it's on their Trello board.
No way it can compete with R* on map development, I doubt the graphics will match GTA IV (check out RevIVe) and V enb's. With mods gunplay is damn good in GTA V, also there's a few great handling mods and scripts for 5, and 4 has brilliant bike patrols, with its great physics
I think LSPDFR will remain King, especially as people keep adding content, vehicles, weapons, custom scripts, mods etc. Because you have to compete with all three, R* ... GTA's extensive modding community ... and LSPDFR
@@roknroller6052 LSPDFR will definitely remain king and that will be until a big company decides to invest in a police game with modding freedom, graphics and everything you just mentioned. Always nice to have a few more good games though, and i hope this one can develop into a nice one

Rockstar is a massive company, Aesir interactive is not. Simple as that. There is no competition. If rockstar wanted to make a police simulator, they would blow any competition out of the water.
This game looks like it has a lot of potential and seems to be focused on real policing not just the flashy calls. Also the graphics are way better than other games in the same genre. Will be watching this one closely, more content pleas my friend

I love the potential this game has this early. I really want to see more as it expands.
I downloaded the game a week ago, and it took me about 90 minutes to do most of the on foot assignments (game has been updated since Jeff posted this video) in order to start the car patrols.
I'm still learning along as I go and have been wanting to watch Jeff's take on it. Overall, I learned some helpful tips thus far in order to continue to progress my career.

I love sim games, but this seems to do it really well with awesome graphics such early on! I know you love five pd and police so it's really cool you were able to get your hands on this really cool police sim game. I am really excited to see you play more of this and I might have to get the game when it comes out!

I've been playing, I had a look at the manual, a minor accident is not considered an emergency callout, that's why you were pinged for unnecessary siren usage. Yeah, it sucks, I know. Also, you can search the car more thoroughly by opening every single door and searching around them. That car parked well off the road? You can ticket that for no parking area, as well as have it towed, you can also have a too-close-to-crosswalk vehicle towed, too.
Any one see that NPC crossing the road at 18:16 just take off and clip through the building?

The city looks like Boston, and the city in the game is Brighton which is a suburb of Boston. 10% discount on the game until June 24th, and they said that early access will be less expensive than the full release, so they say on their website that those who jump on the early access now, will save money in the long run as you'll have already paid for the game once it goes initial public release, which will include updates.
I'm probably going to wait until Q3 after the "anti-drug" update to pick this game up. But looks interesting nonetheless.
I don't know if someone commented that already but in this game, you have to search each part individually, when you search the driver seat you are not searching the whole vehicle, but the games really looks amazing fun to play

This looks like it could be something really good!! I gave up trying to keep LSPDFR up to date and everything working a while ago, after work I don't want to be messing with stuff just want to be a police officer sometimes ha. I gave Flashing Lights a go it's fun but hasn't really grabbed me. I want a really good police sim that looks great and has a lot depth to it and this looks really promising if the devs stick with it and keep improving and adding things. Definitely going to pick this up when it goes to early access. Thanks Jeff for showing us!!
Earliest I've been, luckily I just finished my school work, ready to watch my one of my favorite police-game youtuber!
I have never heard of this game but it sounds like it has potential. It would be cool if it had options for you to become corrupt. It starts with a free lunch at a small cafe, then that owner expects some extra attention, and that turns into taking bribes, stealing narcotics, beating people and giving tickets to your ex-girlfriend's boyfriend. There could also be a mission where you go out drinking with your buddy and he hassles you to let him fire your service weapon. Then you go down a dirt road late at night and let him fire it into a road sign, then you realize there is a curve in the road and a house is behind the street sign and maybe you're friend hits that house. Not that it happened to me, but I'm just guessing.
This looks incredible especially for being a pre alpha build, i can't wait to spend countless of hours patrolling

I'm really impressed with the detail for how early this game is. LSPDFR was wayyyy more bare bones than this at launch!
Very cool. The only negative little thing is the camera movement when you’re on foot, and the way your character moves.. but hopefully updates for in the near future. But all n all, great game!
@4:08 I think they wanted you to go Code 1 or 2. At least in my area, PD is not allowed to respond to an MVA code 3 unless there are major injuries or a serious traffic hazard like being on the interstate. A fender bender like that, they won't rush to. Half hour responses are routine. Hell I once got hit by a car on my bike and the police didn't show up until they came to take my statement at the hospital two hours later.
This game actually looks awesome, can't wait to see more videos on it when its updated as well!

Man, I wish they'd make it for Xbox Series S/X! I've always wanted a game like this. I used to play one WAY back in the day on Windows 3.1, I believe. Police Quest, it was called. It was definitely cool back in the day, but I probably haven't played it in over 20 years. Would love to try this!
There is no offense to Jeff, but when companies give things or pay streamers, it puts into question any comments regarding the product. Since this practice began, I've noticed a difference in what streamers say about their impressions of the product.
Getting paid does not mean the streamer will "lie" to you. It only means they will only spend most of the time talking about things they really do like, and then spend little or no time on the things they don't like.
So when he mentions things he likes about the game, you can trust him.

One can only hope it actually delivers but there is a reason most of the PD sims fail and thats because in GTA they built the world from the base up and alot of the PD sims are building things from the PD sim factor down which destroys immersiveness unless they make it online rpg style.
Damn! This is a great looking game. The scene of that first accident looks a lot like the parking garage at One Congress Street in Boston.
i always though GTA was going to have a in-depth Be the Police game like this one. I still think GTA should do it nut like this one needs to be really in-depth - realistic

I’m not sure why they took emergency service and taxi missions out of GTA. They could easily do a much better police “sim” in GTA.

The only think this game is missing is the dozens of bystanders who are holding their phones trying to catch you slipping up. Don't forget them calling you names.
I remember walking Tommy Vercetti around trying to make him only follow the law in Vice City 1987, and then I remember walking him into a Police department and them shooting at him when all we wanted was a fluckin job at the department in the game

Okay, check it out. How about a MMORPG where you can be a serial killer or other career criminal (think GTA series) but also, there's a fully realized police and investigations aspect to the game, where you can choose to be a cop or a criminal. So instead of just hiding behind a bush for 30 seconds, someone SAW you and they don't stop trying to track you down. Fingerprints, etc., and you have to cover your tracks and leave as little evidence as possible. Like GTA with consequences!

Huge potential for this game. City looks vibrant too. Graphics almost at GTAV level which i think is a great achievement for a fairly small developer. Good play through too!
Playing it myself I think the graphics are better than gta excluding graphical glitches etc. because the game is running on the unreal engine
Yeah sirens on for no reason it's a MINOR accident not a MAJOR accident, cops don't run code to minor accidents in real life so it makes sense the more you know.
