Personally I liked the video. I like keeping it real and to me it is just you being a real person. Nothing wrong with having fun and nothing wrong with showing that you don't always catch monsters. That's why it's called fishing instead of catching. Keep 'em coming!
Those tailing black drum are very hard to catch I fish for them here in Louisiana and never have much luck either but you finished up strong with the snapper so thanks for taking me along. Keep the videos coming I really appreciate all you do
Thanks you bum you. 5 minutes in and You are making me feel great. i fished 2 days last week end on a seawall and caught 5 mangrove snapper... all of them were 10" or under... Not big enough to keep...
Great video, one of my favorite fish to fish for, growing up in South Florida, I use to fish for them at night, that's when the big ones come out, using cut mullet or cut herrin, on a knocker rig 2/0 J hook ,I use to catch them anywhere up to 5 to 10 pounds from land in the salt water canal's. anyway I know that you will enjoy them, thanks for the flashback memories,,,,, Stay Safe God Bless,,,,,,,
Fish the canal every year on vacation and we always use live pin fish for the black drum and redfish. Thought you might give it a try. Have to be patient for them but will catch them. Good luck.
I live in Queensland, Australia and Mangrove Jack are a prized fighting and eating fish. The minimum size is 35cm or about 14 inches. Live baits are best but they'll take damn near anything some days. Stormy summer evenings are best. My PB inshore is 68cm or 27 inches. Offshore I've caught them around the 3 foot mark.
I've tried catching those black drum on the exact same stretch of the canal and I can attest to the fact that they REFUSE to bite. Its exciting seeing them, but so frustrating.
You have your viewers HOOKED.... Keep the videos coming where ever you choose to fish... Surf...Pier...Canal...Bridge.. It's all interesting to most Fishermen... If a mud hole would produce a Fish...Fish It!!
Grats on the snapper for dinner! I recently saw a video where a guy caught a couple big lady fish and turned one into chum and the other into chunks, chummed up the water for about 5 minutes and used the chunk bait for catching mangrove snapper, maybe something to try?
Holy Snapper. Those are some good size Mangrove. I think the biggest one I've caught was about 12 in. I fish the Corpus Port Aransas area mostly. All inshore fishing and surf. I've only caught mangroves around pylons and the Jetties. Here in Texas we don't have a size limit or any regulation on Mangrove Snappers. But I just throw them back if they're under 10.
Only thing I caught in that canal were snags and bait stealing pinfish. Are the pinfish in that area ridiculous or are they that abundant everywhere in Florida. I usually fish farther down south in February and maybe the sheepshead keep them away at that time.
I see a lot of TH-cam fishing guys do something I really should: change spots when the bite sucks. I usually have other people with me who don't relocate easily, so I wind up some days waiting for a bite that never happens.
I was catching a lot of big mangrove snapper at this spot I go to and they we’re all keepers o didn’t keep any but I’m they were fighting hard i was so hyped
Hey bud, dont give up on the buggs lure. There is another tuber called mdlr and he uses the heck out of those. If you dont already watch him you might check it out to see how he is using those lures. You can catch all kinds on those. Tight line bro
Thread a couple of the biggest liveliest sand fleas on a circle hook. Guarantee you’ll hook up on the black drum there if you bring fleas from the surf 🤙🏻
I'm from mobile and I'll bring the kids over there to fish in that canal that's a terrible place man I called nothing was out there all day with them not wanting to leave because they were getting a bite LOL love you videos
Love watching the videos man! Coming from a guy who is just starting to get into saltwater fishing and is constantly trying to learn new tips and tricks...keep posting videos! Your videos have taught me a whole lot and I don't care if the fishing is slow...I'm watching to learn. Thanks Matthew!
I caught a fatty 16 inch mangrove inshore yesterday. Biggest one ive ever seen. They only have to be 10" here in FL.. Will most definitely be eating him. OH! And I caught an eater black drum too haha. Love you bama you'll get em my dude good luck!
I can’t believe these black drum don’t like live shrimp! What do they eat where you were fishing? I know you are a Fishbites guy but you should try some of Tony Taglioni’s FishGum. I have found that to be phenomenal bait. Besides the reason I watch all your videos is because Tony once put me on to your channel. Give it a shot even if you don’t put it on video.
@@lukewilson3271 yes it is great , going for triple tail, if it's not to late, but flounder is what I'm after, blue's for fun, sheep head, for me, hardest fish to be land
I just freshly moved to the Bay area. I need to find some of these spots to fish when the beach isn't producing (like now). Anyone want to help a guy out with even where this wall is? Or any other place to catch fish this time of year without a boat? Have pole... will travel...
Thanks for the video I’m from South Florida Fort Lauderdale I’m thinking to go up north Florida can you tell me where is the spot did you got the mangrove snapper where ’s the location so I’ll probably I could fish because I don’t know any spot up there thanks

Hook on a 2 to 3 inch crab 7/0 hook... Toss it out and just hold on. ... Don't jig it. Just let it sit. If nithung hits it within 5 minutes ease it back a foot or so. Let it sit. Ease it back a foot or so. Never fails. If I can't catch anything. I can catch a drum off a crab. ....
I remember when I was fishing period pass and we caught Spanish and blue’s back to back and then a bunch of charters came in and pulled right up to the wall, ruined are fishing, and then started joking that me and my dad weren’t 6 feet apart
I told you last year to go there and use fresh dead shrimp or cut mullet. They are huge, but I don’t like them. Y’all call them big ugly’s, I say big nasty! lol. But we’ve had monsters on fresh dead shrimp or cut mullet. They like to eat the yuk off the bottom.
Personally I liked the video. I like keeping it real and to me it is just you being a real person. Nothing wrong with having fun and nothing wrong with showing that you don't always catch monsters. That's why it's called fishing instead of catching. Keep 'em coming!
So I'm not the only one who can fish all day and not catch anything? Enjoying your videos and looking forward to a trip to FL panhandle this fall.
Matt I love your videos. You found a way to make a way to make a living doing what you love. Every day is a win whether the fishing goes well or not.
Bama, you just keep doing what your doing and I'll keep watching! ANOTHER, enjoyable video!!

Best part of this vid is the riverboat. How they can maneuver those things being so long is amazing.
where do you get the live bull minnows??
Thanks for the gear details..good job what are you using to put minnows in.

I caught a snook around Orange beach today. I freaked out more then you did with the bonefish. It was around 1 foot. Bait was shrimp.
Dawson Fayard wasn’t a monster but it was about one foot.
Saw one cast netted in December off the Dan Russel pier in PCB about 20 years ago.
I caught my pb snook yesterday and I freaked tf out too haha
How far are you from St Augustine I go down to Vilano Beach fishing pier but I don't have too much walk down there
Hey buddy, keep your head up. Ole timers say a bad day fishing is better than a good day working!

What is your best lure throwing combo For on the beach?
Man, that just depends. But I use an inshore setup mostly. 2k reel on 7’ rod
Bama Beach Bum ok thank you
Fished off that wall a many of times never seen that method! Thx will have to try it next time I am down!
Can you post a video on how to read the beach? Give a description of what makes a spot a good fishing spot?
try the Berkley gulp alive sandworms then or some other gulp seafishing powerbait. it should work
Glad plan B worked out for ya!! And hey those snappers taste better than old big ugly anyway

That's a good spot right where you're at. I've caught many mangrove snappers up and down that wall on carolina rigged bull minnows.
Enjoyed the mangrove catch, we used to throw them back 50 years ago, the reds were so plentiful.
What’s the brand name of those pliers your using?
Only thing I caught in that canal were snags and bait stealing pinfish. Are the pinfish in that area ridiculous or are they that abundant everywhere in Florida. I usually fish farther down south in February and maybe the sheepshead keep them away at that time.
I figured after fishing with Brant you’d be adjusting your drag more. Lol
Did u get brant the.....'i play with my drag'.....lol....love it.....
Where you get the bull minnows at?
I caught a 14 and a half inch mangrove down where you were and a lot of other legalls
14! That’s a good size there! 🤙
Love these type of vids. Keep up great work.👍
Is bull minnow a area name thing? I've never heard that before, they are mud minnows around here
Love catching mangrove snapper, great vid!
You should have studied Brants technique when he was there. Always a good day when the Beach Bum drops a vid.
Come to Pensacola and fish bob sikes bridge. I’ve been catching keepers there for the past 2 weeks.
I walk that wall all the way until the jetties with a small piece of shrimp in the water until i find the mangrove then i just sit there!!😂
Lol. Smart!
We fished the pass last June. Good times and great views
Another great video, I would like to make another a trip in November. What's the surf fishing like down there that time of year?
Hey man do you ever go to the jetty
Heck ya! That looked like fun. And tasty!!
Great video bro I'm going saltwater fishing tomorrow can't wait lol
I’ve caught lots of mangroves on that wall all the way up and down it.
Where is that wall please? I live in Washington state now but I grew up on the East coast and that bridge is familiar.

Redfishing off the wall would be sick!
We usually take a boat to the other side of the canal (where the barge is) and we usually catch Red Drum.

Where do you get the minnows down there?
Hooked up and J&M carry them.
Hey can you give me some tips because i can’t catch anything not even a bite
I've caught a grouper off of the wall where it meets the marine police station fence lol.
I caught a fatty 16 inch mangrove inshore yesterday. Biggest one ive ever seen. They only have to be 10" here in FL.. Will most definitely be eating him. OH! And I caught an eater black drum too haha. Love you bama you'll get em my dude good luck!

Boynton Beach Inlet has great mangroves. Nice thing about Florida size limit is 10 inches
Thanks
Down in September. Cant wait to fish
Fiddler crabs work great for drum.
Love your vids bro!
Use big dead smelly shrimp for those big uglies. They'll smell it. Caught a 44 incher last summer in Galveston. 🎣🎣🎣 Good Luck 👊
This the channel in orange beach ?
Yes
Got the same water jug
I was just fishing that same spot last week, we caught some good fish nothing big though
Funny..didn’t I see Your buddy Brant catch a Black Drum in like 5 minutes at that canal?
Lol yes you did
Brant was also using fresh blue crab halves. A bait black drum cannot resist.
Is there a website I can see what size fish are legal

In Alabama would be nice
Chris I know you are committed, this is my way of escaping 2020, hope you can relate,
I relay like DOA copper shrimp for Black Drum !
I thought your supposed to be using circle hooks when you are targeting mangro snapper

Yeah it’s 12” in Alabama
You are correct Sir, should have never doubted you ultimate

Love mangees ..nice job BB... try explosives on those drum...👀
Trust me when I tell you that there are 20 and 25 in snappers swimming up and down that wall!!!
I believe it.
you might want to keep your lure still much longer norm.
Market shrimp or cracked up crabs are your best bets
