Grew up within walking distance on Rt. 27 (Parker St.). Went to Maynard High, class of '80. We used to explore those bunkers from trails out behind the high school. Some were open. We used to call it the "ammo dump." : )
I grew up in Maynard,Mass. I feel that the government should have kept these for defense along with the railroad. Perfect locations. Thank you for this wonderful video.
I lived on Parker St. (Rt. 27), across from the old Digital where the newish apartments and stores are now. Maynard high grad of '80. You could access the "ammo dump' as we called it from the trails behind the high school.
Interesting, thanks for sharing. I live in Central MA about an hour and half from here. Out near the Quabbin Reservoir. They have some of these there but they are much larger. These look to be like Quanset huts made of cement.
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ Wow this is pretty cool, I never heard of this location. The Myles Standish State Forest also has many many bunkers, learn of that while camping. Thanks for all that you do, this is an excellent video ✌️🇺🇲
Hi Jmass, Did you enter from the welcome center location? How long did you have to walk into the park to come across the first bunker. I plan on checking this out soon. Thanks ✌🏻
I did! I parked right at the visitor’s center and walked down a trail called Harry’s Way. The first bunker is very close to the visitor’s center-about a 5 minute walk!
I visited some of these bunkers a few months ago and was disappointed when I couldn't find a way in. Super cool seeing the inside of one! I imagined they would be way dirtier and rundown.
This place is excellent, enjoyed the video. I don't know how much is left, but near to Franklin Falls Dam in New hampshire, you can kayak up to the old abandoned town called Hill. I think you can also walk it, but theres so much cool stuff to see from the water vantage point. Same with Lake Massabesic in Auburn NH. I've encountered many abandoned structures on the remote shore areas.
Awesome, I know that spot but I never saw inside any of the bunkers. I like the big field in the middle of the woods near the Maynard entrance. I designate this video as a national Super Dope video.
Haha, thanks dude! Yeah, I was shocked that I was able to get inside a bunker and film it, I think they’re usually all sealed shut and locked. I’ll have to check out that field sometime!
The guys stationed there during the war were lucky. Probably the kind of place you got to ride out the war if you had a rich dad. The exposure to toxic waste wasn't great, but still less hazardous than German or Japanese bullets. EDIT: My mistake, the toxic waste was AFTER the war. So it was a REALLY great gig during the war.
Looks cool. I would be paranoid and jam a stick in door- so a big gust of wind wouldn't blow the door stuck shut. OK, I watch too many horror movies. Maybe you had someone outside the door.
you might not want to risk something like this because of trespassing but there is a few fences you can get under, you will find near to these bunkers is an abandoned air force facility that has been stripped, along with a long road leading to more bunkers. its not on maps.
they aren't counted with the 50 published online as well and i think they are all sealed and haven't been tampered with since closing, most of them don't even have graffiti.
Somebody must have the keys. For the sake of openness and freedom, the public should have more access. It would be difficult to do any damage, and in any case, I don’t think that’s the issue. I think more of them should be left unlocked, for the public to explore.
Could not agree more! They are an incredible piece of New England history, and should be left to the New England people to experience and enjoy. All historical relics should be open to the public, and these are no exception!
Many good folks have died of inoperable brain tumors. It’s filled with solvents, chemicals & carcinogens. The center of the universe, Maynard, Massachusetts. Our water supply ran through 3 miles of this waste site.
Kind of funny to see someone not alone violate Mass trespass laws, but post the evidence on TH-cam. God bless you son ... hope you make some videos of Massachusetts' luxurious District Courts (I believe this one falls under Framingham's jurisdiction)

6:15 this is why I love the woods cause you could find anything

Yeah, I got really lucky finding one that was open-they’re typically locked. I do know they occasionally do tours inside, though!
Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm the president of a local kayaking club in this area. I'd be down to go exploring sometime.

Woah, that’s super interesting! Never heard about that place before. I’m definitely gonna look into that and check it out sometime soon! Thanks!

Gov Healey : Take note possible accommodations for your visitors
Very neat site.
Agreed, it’s a fascinating place to explore!
Randolph ma behind lantana rt 28 exit in the blue hills land has old underground bunkers linked by train tracks that used to house missiles .
Oh fascinating, I wasn’t aware of those ones! Thanks for sharing! 🙏

Haha, that’s probably the smart thing to do. I’ll admit, that didn’t cross my mind!
Loading docks dude
What’s the blue roof building in the intro
That’s Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT!

Wow, that’s fascinating! I genuinely did not know about that stuff at all, thank you for sharing! I may have to do some research into this now…
@@j-mass i went there once when i was younger. i remember it being a not too long hike only a couple hours from a public road and maybe 3 fences.
No padlock on 305. Probably rusted shut, though.

It’s a public park with public trails
Plus the only agency nearby to prosecute is the state fire academy who isn’t gonna give a rats ass
