    How do I NOT leave rings from the lid when finishing the picture ? I let it dry first, then come back later but I still end up with a slight ring from the lid.

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Haribo, Sorry for the late response, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) is the ring from where the lid was sitting or is it like a halo around the planet like a black line all the way round it? you shouldn't be getting any ring from the lip of the lid if you put it on when the paint was dry :) , If's it's a halo you can see that is caused when you spray the background colours on and it doesn't go right to the edge of your lid stencils so when this happens it leaves a tiny black halo around your planet when you take the lid off, hope this makes sense :)

    Commenting as a graffiti writer. If you looked into the available caps for those cans, you could have done that black background in like two passes,1 second of time, with something like IronLak's "ghettoblaster" calligraphy cap for example

    It seems when I spray the black and the white they never want to stick. The other color always bleeds through. Tips?

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hardbody, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) If the paint is mixing up/bleeding, it's because there's to much paint gone down before you do the texture, Try spraying less paint paint down for each layer of colour you put down this way they won't mix/bleed with each other hope this helps :)

    • @4.8Flatbed
      @4.8Flatbed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonBarberArt should I get poster board? Or will canvas work? It seems like the white and the black just don't want to cover my original colors & it's extremely bothersome. The normal colors I'm using don't bleed as bad but the white. Forget about it.

      Hi Ocean, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) No you can't use any paper for this, it has to be coated paper, like a glossy coat on the paper, because normally paper will just soak the spray paint up when you spray on to it, hope this helps :)

    A few tips I can add.
    I'm in the process in replicating this gentleman's art onto a electric guitar that I had sanded down for a different Idea. ( when I saw this it was a no-brainer as to what I wanted to do.)
    I'm in Austin,Texas. Its hotter here than two big cats fxxcing in a wool sock. About 97°F or 37c.
    Trying this outside in the heat and wind.....not good.
    Lemmetella (sic) once the paint starts to dry, you are not going to have texture on your planets.
    You, most likely will end up with something I called, "extra chromosome".
    I had to move into my garage where the temperature was more predictable.
    The other thing I'd like to add is that I needed to shake and prime the cans like a blind baby before I started.
    If this is not done, you are going to end up with unmixed paint. ( doesn't make for a very brilliant planet.
    I also found that tinfoil didn't make for good texture paper.
    It stuck to the canvas/ guitar and I had to head back for a second sanding so I could restart.
    To the artist:
    Thanks so much for sharing your ideas with the world.
    Because of you, it's a brighter cooler place to be.
    Respectfully,
    Matthew Blake

      Hi Matthew, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, feedback, and the suggestions/tips I really do appreciate it :) Yes the hotter it is the faster the paint will dry if it's too hot the paint will dry to quick which means no texture on it or very little, Yes, always shake the cans for at least 2 mins each to get that paint mixed up :) I have never used tinfoil so wouldn't know how it works, but i may give it a go just to see what effect it does :) Thank you again for taking the time to leave these tips Matthew :)
