I do want to clarify one thing - I am not arguing that TBA is better than Splash, or vice versa. I especially do not agree with a lot of the politics that influenced the decision to retheme Splash.
The point I'm trying to make is that it's important to remember that there are more important things in life than Splash Mountain existing - be grateful for all the awesome documentation, videos, audio, photos, soundtracks, paintings, and especially memories, that this community has created and preserved over the years; those are what matter the most.
I think a lot of people forget that these are theme park rides, and that both the save splash and the burn splash people are a bunch of people arguing about a silly log ride.
@@JavaCakeTHANK YOU. I keep going on my socials seeing people fighting over it. Can't stress enough that it's a "don't be sad its over, be glad it happened" moment.
Also the point I was trying to make. There’s other things I like too, but this ride does hold a special place in my heart.
I mostly agree, but in the context of Disney ruining every single other thing they touch, I see this more as the final nail in the coffin which makes me extra upset. It represents everything wrong with modern day Disney. It shows that imagineers aren’t nearly as good as they used to be. It shows how the company is moving in the wrong direction almost to the point of no return. Disney is a dying brand and I say this as someone who was the biggest Disney shill 5 years ago. They’re ruining Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, Disney Animation, and now their theme parks too. Look at the disasters of Galactic Star Cruiser, Galaxy’s Edge, and Avengers Campus. They’ve completely lost their magic. Maybe if everything else Disney touches wasn’t already falling apart I could maybe get over this, but that’s not the case. Yes it’s just a goofy log ride for kids, but mark my words…Disney is going to crash and burn and this disastrous re-theme will be among the top reasons.
But let's be honest, TBA is absolutely garbage and Splash is arguably the greatest attraction of all time. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that Disney is literally self-destructing with all of these horrible decisions.
Wonder if you could just throw a cheap phone that's recording audio far from the boat and then later that day you submit a lost and found form and have a cast member recover it for you.
As a SM enthusiast, I salute you for your efforts!
I agree that we need to take a step back and focus on the memories we had on it. The people we shared the experience with. But I think saying "it was just a Disney attraction" can be read the wrong way. Was it important to you? Did it bring you joy? Will you mourn its loss like an old friend? Ah, then it wasn't "just a ride," was it? It was something else. Move on with life, realize the big picture, but don't think for a second you have any right to not be sad just because it was "just a ride." If it was important to you, your emotions are valid.
This decision was never a good idea. It's a travesty what happened to this ride. The other sad thing about this is that they had an opportunity to make something worthwhile. TBA could have had so much potential. Reenact TPatF. An imposing 6 1/2 to 7 ft tall, state-of-the-art Dr Facilier animatronic sending you up the lift hill off to your doom could have been so memorable. This was such a squandered opportunity.
But they didn't have to destroy this ride in order to make a new, very memorable experience. This cheap reskin just goes to show that they had no real intention of doing anything other than to get rid of something that they arrogantly figured was "problematic." Sigh. What a waste.
Seen the new TBA POV video. They really messed up the story and it feels so dull. Party party party. No bad guy.
Splash Mountain is and will always better then TBA and will have a place in my heart.
no conflict doesn’t have to be a bad thing. sure it strengthens the story, but having just a “feel good” type ride is not a bad thing
@@TackyFlamingo there's also a lot of dead space and screens. they definitely could've done it better, sure there are wonderful new AA's, but so far from what i've seen there seems to be a lot of empty space too.
you haven't seen it firsthand, therefore you cannot judge.
@@zekeholloway4413 To be fair, both rides had way too much dead space. Watch the side by side comparison. Just from the start you see after the first small drop as you circle around the big drop, Splash had NOTHING there except the briar patch plastic. TBA on the other hand has several static figures, themeing (with the water tower) and a Tiana animatronic on the way up. Conversely, on the first area TBA only has the big Louis animatronic (which is cool but it leaves the lead up to him kinda dead looking) while Splash had the recycled animatronics just singing all the way down. So really it seems more of a reorganization.
@@TackyFlamingothis ride is horrible
I just feel like they would've been better off keeping the ride as is and building a completely new ride based off the Princess and the Frog IP. If they did that they wouldn't have the divisive mess they have going on now and would've added more to the Frontierland area. I mean, Universal has two flume type rides and a rapids ride in 1 park so it's not completely out of the question.
From an artistic point of view: Art is getting diminished by profit. It’s much more than the ride. It was bugs land. It was the Mavel franchise. More than IP’s. It goes as deep as worker strikers, fair wages, and … I can’t think much right now but I don’t wanna stress myself out but it’s much deeper than a ride and it will branch off to a different subject. It always does with this brand.
I was a Disney employee and let’s just say :) I’m not now. I value respect. Respect your audience. Respect your workers. Respect the earth.
Besides that I like your lil plot lol.
This time we’re gonna catch Brer Rabbit for sure!
Uh, yeah. But that’s what you said the last time before.
@@kylekeller3398and the time before that!
And the time before that.
The closure of SM was especially devastating to me because I used to want to be an imagineer. For me, this was the nail in the coffin for that dream. Now i dont know what i want to do...
I highly recommend looking into Universal creative a lot of people who worked in imagineering moved to universal creative because disney (as of right now) is a sinking ship

Bless you for preserving ride history. I love theme park history and it's so sad when things get lost or destroyed and there was no documentation. You're a hero 🙏
I will miss Splash Mountain, the attraction will always hold a special place in my heart as I too have created many great memories with the it. I cannot wait to create more memories with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
this ride will always remind me of my grandpa

I'm building the atraction on Rec Room it is for VR and all CONSOLES
my daughter loves princess and the frog so i know she will enjoy the ride. and even if that attraction won't last for long i know it will be her memories. i remember when they took funtastic world of hanna barbera from universal studios. it was my favorite ride when i was a kid but when it was replace by jimmy neutron and then minions i told myself for the longest time i would never ride it. but then i had kids of my own and i didn't want them to miss out on attractions solely because the ones i rode weren't there anymore. so i went on the minions ride with my son, and a part of it still felt like riding with yogi bear only different. it was alot of fun and i never saw my son laugh as hard as he did. i did eventually showed him what the ride was like on youtube even though he would never ride it the way i did but he was glad i shared that with him because scoobyy doo was in the video. so even though my kids won't ride splash mountain as it use to be i'll know they'll still enjoy this one thank you for sharing your last memories to the ride
Splash Mountain will be dearly missed by many, many people, myself included. Splash Mountain is the ride that got me incredibly interested in Disney Parks in the first place, and sparked my dream to become an imagineer. And while I'm terribly sad about Splash leaving, I'm welcoming TBA with open arms. The Princess and the Frog is my favorite Disney movie, and as the studios last full length 2d animated film- I would like to say it's a masterpiece all the way from the animation to the story to the music. Though I am still vaguely confused as to why they didn't just make the ride the same storyline as the movie, I'm very happy that the characters are the same. I rode both Disneyland and Disney World's Splash Mountains shortly before they closed for the retheme and they were just in a terrible state. It was really sad to see what Disney let happen to the ride. I rode it with some friends who had never been on it before and it was honestly embarrassing because they didn't get to see the beauty and fun of the ride with how run down it was. I'm hoping that the all new animatronics in TBA will allow the ride to be kept up for everyone to see, all while Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain stays kickin' it and running thanks to it being run by the Oriental Land Company. And I've seen videos from theirs- and it's simply beautiful and runs like a dream. I guess what I'm trying to say is- we all know that Splash Mountain was way better than what TBA is going to be, but I want us to still welcome it. You don't have to be excited for it, you don't even have to ride it, but let's not bash people who are excited or the imagineers who worked very hard on it. This retheme hasn't crushed my imagineer dreams and I hope to make it there someday- and hopefully we'll be able to give you a storyline way better than whatever's happening in TBA 😂
Here I thought that you actually caught something....like a disembodied voice of someone or some strange noise that wasn't part of the original ride.

That this is the exact area I got evacuated? How did you know?
Wow what a roller coaster, I'm glad I stuck in til the end 😴

What an awesome plan. Well done.
Btw that song is actually on the Disneyland legacy collection Splash Mountain Medley.
I will always refer to the new ride as Splash Mountain…
Cool video! I think you're pretty good at this. Going to check out some of your other videos.
You said it perfectly, it really is JUST a Disney attraction. At the end of the day the memories are what matter. The things, just like in real life, are only things. Change is inevitable, it's what we do with change that keeps us moving forward. Subbed because this is some very fun content and I look forward to more!
for 10+ years i've watched splash mountain POV videos, never been to disney, but always wanted to experience the ride
Now I have no reason to go, since im sure all the other classic attractions are on the chopping block. Great! idgaf about disney movies but theming is a huge special interest of mine, so things like splash mountain and pirates and tower of terror were the biggest appeal to me.
This ride will always be better than TBA

This journey is pretty cool, shows how excellent SM is.
This park will be a Six Flags within a decade. Look at this rides replacement, not too far off.
It IS devastating. The replacement ride is boring AF. If they replaced it with something spectacular, it'd be a loss. This is just a travesty, to ruin it for no good reason.
It’s so sad, it was still #1 and it was closed
Used to be my favorite Disney ride ever.
Yes! I can't wait for this! So excited! RIP to the best Disney ride to ever exist...
Im honestly really excited for the new ride. Even though SM was a classic, you gotta admit it was based off a racist movie from back in the day. So Disney had a pretty good reason to take it away. TBA might not have a good story, but it’s has new audio animatronics,a new song for the ride, and all that jazz. So to all of you SM fans,I understand how hard it is to say goodbye to a favorite ride, but Disney took it away for a good reason and you gotta know that. And for everyone who is excited for TBA, I’m with you. If you’re a fan of both,I’m with you too! So hopefully the ride goes well and they’re isn’t too much hate for it as there is right now
Splash mountain was my favorite ride- but it was falling apart! I'm so excited to see fresh and working animatronics in the space again!
@@brooklyn8328 me too! There is too much hate for the new ride. It’s all because of the storyline and that the villain isn’t in the ride
No, it's a BS reason. I'd watch the actual film.
It wasn’t a racist movie. You’re just parroting what others have mistakenly said.
10/10 vid.
Wait,is the microphone still on the ride today? Or did the cast members find it whenever they started construction on TBA?
If you had experienced a ride breakdown and evacuation, you could've put it behind the scenes near the animatronics.
@91JLovesDisney I never did get your response on Martin's video about ALD audio. TH-cam must have deleted it.
I tried again, must have been deleted again! ALD means assisted listening device, it's something you can borrow (or rent?) at the parks if you're hard of hearing.
Most rides and some lands broadcast premixed soundtracks to these ALD devices, so with the right equipment, you can pick it up and record it. Now, it's radio, so low quality, and often the mixes are outdated or broken.
I believe all the existing ALDs have been recorded and used, most of them aren't really worth posting. The main ones are Carousel of Progress, Country Bear Jamboree I think, Sonny Eclipse.
@@91JLovesDisney Ohhh, okay! Thanks!
@@91JLovesDisney So you probably know Test Track is closing this weekend. Do you think I should rent an ALD for the queue or anything? Like the video right before you design a car? Or is there nothing to record in that building?
@@Tom_Morrow1994 That's a good question. Well, you need more advanced equipment than the ALD that the park can give you, you'll need like an aftermarket receiver that can record.
I have a list of recorded ALD stuff, I'll check and get back to you.
@@91JLovesDisney Okay! Thanks a lot! I'll be bringing my induction recorder, so I'll at least get the In-car audio.
Should've gotten a cheap burner phone, livestreamed the ride, then "lost" the phone on that outdoor section of the ride. That way you'd get the music out and wouldn't have to care about getting the device back
This seems highly unlikely 😐
I like to think that at some point in 30 to 50 years, the ride will be restored, once either Disney gets competent leadership, or the company collapses and their IP and parks get sold off.
