Diomedes and the loyal Blood Ravens are victorious over Kyras and his Chaos forces.
Though Gabriel was maimed by the Demon Prince Kyras, he survived and has now been given the title of Chapter Master by the surviving Blood Ravens.
Lead the chapter as you always have lead Gabriel. With honor, courage, and valor. May the Emperor never find you wanting...
But you Gabriel... Backflip Master is fitting. None shall find you... conforming to any of the laws of physics.

Far as I'm concerned this is where Dawn of War's story ended. It didn't need to be continued.
It wasn't. They didn't make DoW3. It never happened. To even suggest so is heresy.

Gabriel Angelos is Chapter Master and Diomodes is reclusiarch of the Blood Ravens. That's all I took from DOW 3.

Actually they fixed that, he aint in flying termie armor anymore, he is just in a bulky normal armor.
not as impossible as it might sound, to be honest. tartaros pattern is the lightest of all terminator armor variants, offers almost the same mobility as normal power armor and who knows how many antigrav suspensors chapter's techmarines put inside his suit?

I find this to be the most fulfilling ending given the story arc.

After all the battle we have fought with Gabriel from Tartarus (DOW 1) to Aurelia & return to Cyrene, Gabriel have finally reach his destiny, for all of us is it honor & grateful to fought along side with the Blood Raven.
Seems like they decided to retcon the whole half-cyborg thing, seeing as how Gabriel in the new Dawn of War 3 trailer is in mint condition.
Terminator armor doesn't move that fast as in the gameplay of DOW 3 we've seen.

I'm just flabbergasted at why they would seemingly want to retcon the canon ending of Retribution when, all things considered, it was a pretty good ending.

Heck, all the die-hard DoW fans are already complaining about it but something makes me think that what we see in the alpha footage is how the game's ultimately going to look like.
MegaShizer Well, the hype is dead for me. I killed the hope of a good game just to lower my expectations, because from what has transpired so far, it's NOT going to stand up to the original DoW series or even DoW 2.

I was horrified when Kyras, as a Daemon Prince crushed Gabriel. Then when I saw Angelos shattered in the hands of Diomedes, then I thought that I'd shed manly tears (cause I thought of him dead for sure). When I saw the second part of the ending I felt happy seeing Gabriel as Chapter Master. Now I can say that he looks now slightly like Marneus Calgar (the Ultramarines Chapter Master also had his limbs torn, but by the Swarmlord, not A Daemon Prince).
Great ending. It really wraps up the Dawn of War story and the Blood Ravens. Now we can move on to Space Marine and the Ultramarines.
I like how Angelos is presented in this exact moment. There's pretty little "presence" of the Emperor in the game, none at all actually, and yet he is always surrounded by golden light every time he's on screen (except when he's been carried by Diomedes).
Feels to me like a miracle from the Emperor: he SHOULD have died, by all means, and yet he lives, surrounded by gold.
Also, maybe it's just me convincing myself of this... But when he's presented as chapter master, and the camera zooms out, is the light taking shape of an aquila, behind him?
Yeah, decade old game, but this, THIS SPECIFIC VIDEO, pushed me from making a single intercessor squad of Blood Ravens to start an entire army. And grab an Angelos model.
Nah, man. I still come back to it. It's so holy and awesome. With Apollo's words "But you Gabriel, Chapter Master is fitting. None shall find you wanting." It's an absolutely perfect ending.
Seeing Angelos in that state still grips me..... he gave everything to banish maledictus as his mistake haunted him for years.

Is "None shall find us wanting." new motto of Blood Ravens? Becouse in the Space Marine game BR used that when meeting Titus from the Ultramarines.

Relic: We have re-modded, and once more are great.
We have forged a game not ripe with shitty mechanics, but one the players can look upon with pride...
Fanbase: This has been dark work Relic, Sega left much corrupted, and cleansing had to be both thorough and merciless.
Yet now, we are fun and playable.
Relic: It has been a necessary act though, our game series lives, free of greed and corruption at last. But I know I cannot serve the series in the same way I did before... But you Fanbase, Game Developer is fitting...

Gabriel Angelos is a badass. And possibly the best charachter in the dawn of war series. Along with Sindri.

I'VE WATCHED THIS ATLEAST TWENTY TWO TIMES TODAY. GOD ITS JUST SO HOLY, AND AMAZING. BY....BY THE EMPEROR ITS BEAUTIFUL.
I almost cryed when I saw angelos fell there, and it was hard to keep my tears god damn it to see my favorite space marine become chapter master :D
And what of Angelos?...... He is pretty fucked up!
That's him at the end with the lens flare blaring at your screen. (with tons of cybernatics to keep him functioning) He is the new Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens. :D

duuude!!! i was watching this on fullscreen and when angelos appeared from the blinding lighti was like "nooo shiiitt0_0....." this is where i thumbs up the makers of the DoW serie.....epic work!
The 2nd option's the likeliest theory since most of the Thousand Sons weren't on their homeworld of Prospero when the Space wolves burned it to the ground, so they weren't sucked into the warp by Tzeentch along with their primarch and the marines that were on the planet. Also, the Sons had a cult called the corvidae which is latin for Raven, and their old power amour was the same color as the present Blood Ravens one is. :)
I loved the idea that this new character 'the Ancient' turns out to be a friend you're already familiar with.
Thule gets slashed by a tyranid warrior and is so badly crippled he has to spend the rest of his life in a dreadnought.
Angelos gets squashed by humongous flaming demon fists and all he needs are a few stitches.

What's the name of the track at the beginning, with the choir? It's the same one that plays in several Eldar waves in Last Stand mode, but I can't find it anywhere...
It's called "Khaine's Wrath".The part of it,that plays in this video,starts from 2:06 in the track.

@HaloGamesRock apparently, he and thaddeus, and YOU the commander from chaos rising turned to the powers of chaos, if i remember Tarkus in the SM campaign on the mission in the Space Hulk, he says something along the lines of "i once knew a man who did what you are doing, but he never came back" which could mean going with chaos along with Avitus and Thaddeus

True, a first founding "Legion" is a very different thing. Its still a good example of both sides throwing in the towel once things get out of hand. The Inquisition doesn't technically have authority over any Adeptus Astartes chapter though, they can only request things from them or force them through political or military power

@somelazyasian in warhammer 40k wiki they say there is a possible connection between the thoussnd sons and the blood raves. the thousand sons sent a fleet away when the space wolves attacked their hive worlds for safety in case they will be destroyed (about the same direction that sub sector aurelia lies from their hive worlds). and allso the blood ravens and the thousand sons have a high amount of psykers.
@Allions10 The canon ending of Chaos Rising was that the traitor was Avitus and was killed by Tarkus and the Force Commander was sent to the Eye of Terror for a path of Penance for a 100 years.
Diomedes: We have rebuild our chapter, we have our recruiting worlds, it's grim dark... and we are wearing power armour.
Gabriel: Hit it.
This is Dawn of War. I have no memory of there being a sequel after this.

@killerguildmonk77 As a result, the FC is sent on a penance crusade, not for being heretical himself but for the HUGE failure of not noticing one of his sergeants falling to chaos. And on a side note, remember, he's not alone, as per Angelos' orders "You will take THE STRIKE CRUISER ARMAGEDDON into the Eye of Terror." he's got an entire strike cruiser full of chapter serfs, possibly Thaddeus and his squad (since they dont appear in retribution) and possibly Avitus' squad, all of them veterans.
@themangix357 an other way of saying it would be "no one will find you lacking". in layman's terms, it's a way of saying that you are are not weak in any way. there is actually a secondary deeper meaning to it, but the basic understanding is enough.
@ariandynas at first i thought what you where saying sounded quite possible but then i went back and watched the neutral ending to Chaos rising and Gabriel actually says this to the Force Commander "...faced with the dark seductions of chaos, you have faltered. You employed dark and damning methods in opposing the enemy. the only honorable path available is a crusade of absolution." so maybe its more a punishment for swaying from the path, also you are right, he did take the Retribution.
Now gabriel has finally reached his own redemption...
@KatamariRoll Sadly most of those things are now forever lost. As it is blown up with Armagedon strike cruiser.
@WarheadRecon Avitus was killed in Chaos Rising as he was the one who betreyed Force Commander.
Thule not know but he dies in Retribution Chaos Campaign but Thaddeus might have been executed or sent to the eye with FC as they were semi corrupted. And Angeloses armor prevented crushing it was the Bombardament that left Gabriel in that state and was made 'cyborg' also Thule was poisoned only way to save him was Dreadnought. Tarkus hid hes identity and Cyras was placed under Diomedes surveillance.

@fallout44454 The Force commander cured that. Thule was still put into the Dreadnought anyways.
Angelos got the beatdown of a life time, lost a big chunk of himself and got better.
@HighPriestofLemuria Actually, Death is the least of your worries. It's the sheer number of things that would rather torture you into insanity, render your body into a shapeless mass of pulsating flesh, and then eat your soul and spend the rest of eternity nibbling on it...
Those are the things you *should* worry about.
Space marine is criticaly wounded, puts him in box called dreaghnout to ultimately lose his sanity for The Emperor and his chapter, Gabriel is crushed so hard that there is barely anything left, GIVE THAT MAN CYBERNATICS IMPLANTS AND OTHER STUFF.

@ThakoManic Tyranid Invasion, Waaagh, Eldar Machinations all at the same time, the doing it AGAIN a year later with a subsector wide Chaos Insurrection, which, despite failing to notice the fall of one of his brothers to Chaos, still managed to defeat and remain pure, I'd say his chances are pretty good.
Damn. Gabriel looks like he really spiffed up on the Just For Men...I guess it comes with the job. He da BIG MAN ON CAMPUS now.
@KatamariRoll some where igven back and some where kept since other chapters gave that as reward for the victory in stabilizing Aurelian sector.

I just realized something!! The new Force Commander model looks just like the one from the original dawn of wars cinematic!!!
So Gabriel survievs in Space Marines campaing and let alone become Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens! My first race to complete was eldar so when saw Gabriel die was kinda sad since hes been my fav hero since DoW and hes agenda on Tartarus. Made me happy to see this :)

@NicholasGeschke Avitus went traitor, the force commander was declared a renegade Thaddeus probably went with him.
@zakarumw There is a weapon (Hammer) that drops, the description explains how the FC killed the Daemon in Chaos Rising but was tainted and sent to the Eye of Terror to battle for 100 to be redeemed. Thaddeus and Thule are not mentioned in the games as far as I can tell.

Essentially. Most of the time they ally with one another, but there have been instances where there has been conflict and even open warfare between the various institutions of the Imperium, most notably during the Reign of Blood.

I had goosebumps when i watched this for the first time. It felt as if it was cut early. They could have kept the music going for about another 10 secs with a more zoom out, but im being picky. I loved the ending regardless,
@Kravockian The empire kills innocens on a daily basis, that's the means. And don't think chaos doesn't want survival either.
Also, on Nazis, they believed themselves genetically superior, but did not attac every, or anyone, they had allies. And they did believe that they had to defend themselves from Russia. That's as close to destructive demons as it gets. And both persecuted innocents.
So no. While corruption can be a factor, it is not the only one. Greed, for example comes to mind.

@killerguildmonk77 Ok the Canon ending is this, Avitus is the traitor since Tarkus points out the Traitor served on Kronus, the Force Commander did not, therefore is not the traitor, Avitus is the only one to have served on Kronus, it can't be Tarkus or Davian Thule, therefore Avitus is the traitor, now, my personal thoery, which you may or may not feel free to accept is it's a penace crusade for a failure, not heresy, in the Imperium it's a pretty big thing for a space marine to go chaos.
Never has the rank of chapter master been bestowed upon a more worthy recipient.

What I find funny is that Thule appears in the Chaos campaign but the Space Marine one.
@Alpharious i may have worded it wrong, what i mean is that the first two had the voice of angelos and the next two where different from gabriel. but i think the voices in dc and ss were the same.
It is about time gabriel angelos got what he deserved, chapter master is indeed most fitting for him it has been a long time coming.
Diomedes has the same voice as the Didact of Halo. Interesting.

It might very well be the true ending since the game is generally abaut space marines and there are no librarians mentioned in the story alive that can take the chapter masters tittle. With Jonahs death so did end the known librarians. As always other campaings just show how it would be should another race triumph.

@TheVoiceOfReason93 I would agree with that. But I don't see how they could do anything else. Maybe they could have a massive siege, say on a fortress monastery. And like previous DOW, you could have multiple missions on timers. Say, a group of Iron Warrior vindicators are breaking through the outer wall(3 days) and Iron Warrior sappers have infiltrated the lower levels and are stealing ammo(1 day). If done right, they could do it.

Nah, no, the Space Marine game coming up is using the Ultramarines, and a recent poll from the main website suggests that future DOW games would show Black Templars or Space Wolves instead of the Blood Ravens, and possibly facing the Thousand Sons legion
And Gabriel finally got the reward that been coming to him

@starhawks1 Beside that point, you get smashed by a 5 story tall demon, ripped in half by explosions and see how YOU look afterwards, you'd be paste, but Angelos being a Space Marine is a bit tougher.
