Phil at race pace is terrifying to watch. He rides so aggressively! Absolutely attacks the hell out of the trail. Incredible riding dude. Always cool to be reminded how skillful you are
I love the fact that Phil places on the podium and draws no attention other the a quick shot so he can get back to focusing on the important stuff. Post riding with friends. Love your stuff.
Congratulations on the finish, I can't believe how fast some of those sections were. You get any faster and you're going to need to start filming at a faster frame rate ! Seriously impressive!
Damn its so nice seeing you riding and smashing races again. Been watching almost since you started the channel. Everytime im watching your new videos im reminded of why every other MTB youtuber that mentions you also adds the "hes fcking fast" part.
That was my band playing there this weekend for their Oktoberfest. I ride here as well. if I had known you were there, I would have definitely come over for a high five! if this was Saturday, and between around 2:30 and 5:30. Sorry Phil!!! =) Last November I broke 5 ribs and had a partially collapsed lung after crashing off the drop you went off at 15:05 on Flow Dog =) Lost my focus haha
Joe Martin... Dude, why is there no video of this on your channel? Is it because of bs copyright crappolla? You're allowed to play copyrighted music in front of thousands of people, and get paid for it, but you can't put it on the net.
@@planeandsimple431 We usually record our shows. Our camera was FUBAR at this show. I typically load the actual band vids to the band page haha. I typically DO get tagged tor copyright claims, but as long as I don't monetize my channel, it's ok. th-cam.com/channels/sbJC_chgUWWcy5mZ4gRp-Q.html
The funny and coincidental thing about all of this is that Phil's video with Wyn Master was what made me realize I wanted to get a full sus bike a couple of years ago and get into this kind of riding. Which is why I would have loved to have met him for a high five. th-cam.com/video/-nhLNBKHjUM/w-d-xo.html
If you're ever feeling glum or need a pick-me-up, just slap on a Phil video. No matter what is going on on the screen it's always upbeat and cheerful. Love it!
Awesome video Phill! Please see this, I have just found out I have COVID just as my new bike arrives tomorrow. But watching your videos puts a smile on my face and makes me look forward to when I can ride it!thank you.
I was racing sport when you and Geoff where in JR x. It was crazy watching g you guys during practice and trying the same lines lol. Just recently found out you make TH-cam videos. Keep up the good work!!
"I'm just going to cruise down" Then goes faster than any person in human history. Hits the bottom of the trail like a meteor and the world EXPLODES!!!
The only bad part about downhill is everyone coming in the track at different time and stay to figure it out. Then the see someone figure it out and it’s like okay now I got it. I always thought they should give everyone 30mins to ride and figure it out. Nice run bud!
I’ve been racing enduro on the dirt bike last few years and there is nothing like the nervous feeling you get when your lining up with 25 other guys.. it’s addicting at the same time lol
cruise down lol, reminded why you stopped racing,,, damn you looked like you were thoroughly enjoying it. love seeing the random riders recognising you. fame :D
I come from a motocross background and recently tried downhill for the first time. Of course I'm addicted after one time, but I found the hardest part for me was one finger braking. On my dirt bike I like to use two fingers and my brother(who rips and lives at Snowshoe) kept reminding me one finger only.
Nothing wrong with using two. The main point is you want more fingers (control) on the handle bars, and less fingers interrupting (braking) the control. This helped me when I first started as well. The more fingers you have hovering over the brakes, the less you have in contact with the handlebars.
Haha I went back to DH racing this summer so I could do Masters DH World Champs.. I was not reminded why I stopped (although I haven't forgotten).. the 10 year break was well worth it. Had a great time at all of the races (even Crankworx Innsbruck which was way too hot) and proper got the bug back. 😀
Phil is this shot on the hero 10? The consistency of the exposure and white balance is incredible. Some of the best footage I’ve seen yet on a helmet cam
Yup. And the video i posted before this was also filmed on the hero 10! Goes to show it works great in good lighting but with bad lighting, it still looks awful. :P
@@SkillsWithPhil I just learned the hard way shooting my first wedding that lighting is everything. Killed two flash batteries and then was stuck using the lights in the venue :(

That cracking noise is maybe a broken frame my friend also had this problem on his GT Force and it was a crack near the headset i would recommand to remove the fork and the bearings and keep an eye on it!
Nope, definitely not cracked. I've ridden the bike a bunch in the mud and haven't gotten back around to regreasing the headset which you should periodically do but it's also easy to overlook.

4th place on an enduro, single crown bike is unbelievable. On a DH bike no doubt Phil would've won, and had he kept racing from 2015 onwards we'd be looking at a World Champ.

"I'm willing to case it"
And that's why we love you.
Legend!
“I’m just gonna cruise down this”
5 seconds later: breaks the sound barrier
Thats just phil-ish for "Punch it, Chewy"
I was looking for this comment
haha beat me too it
I was about to mention this myself in a comment, but you said better than I could have.
Well... That's true

Also Phil: boosts a gap right after .
😂

I've never mountain biked before but your videos have shown me that I want to be part of this community so im going to start!
How are you doing now?
15:31 is so peaceful and tranquil up there in heaven! Good gawd, Phil!!
One of the other great joys of visiting a downhill mountain bike park.
Literally just posted about the same effortless boost.
I have been on that trail many times and I'm not even sure how he possibly got all of that air at that spot. I swear he has wings.

I love how he takes a chunky downhill course and makes it as smooth as an XC lap. He is absolute butter on a bike.
Love the fact you don't let "mechanicals" faze you. Know a lot of people who wouldn't ride with creaking headset and or bent crank arms. Champion.

That moment of hesitation checking if the tire is on backwards at 18:05 ^^
you can hear the oh sh*t moment in the breathing. that wouldve been rough
Luke is the man! He encouraged me through my first enduro race. Coincidentally also at Powder Ridge.
Good to see Ulmer riding! A true east coast OG. Always loved running into him on the hills 😅🤝🏽🤘🏽
I think it's awesome that you are recognized by random riders pretty much everywhere you go.
Seeing the huck almost past the bridge damn near gave me a heart attack! Jeebus!

SOOOOO awesome you are giving Powder Ridge so much attention!
That is so cool to see you racing at Powder Ridge. It is my local and although it’s not the best it is a really fun place to ride. Keep shredding bro👍
Great meeting you and Haylee and talking about falling every ride in the lift line 🤘
Phil must be one of GT’s most valuable assets. Cannot think of a better brand ambassador to promote the joy of biking without any ego.
Phil could be a Tony Robbins to ...Tony Robbins. That's how cool and chill this guy seems, even at scary downhill
Awesome video, killer to see you race again and those after party jumps were the bees knees
11:31 legendary hoodie
Phil, this video was amazing. So fun to watch and experience and I loved the length.
Incredible! It’s so good watching you ride 🙌🏼
I grew up at that "mountain", nice place. Glad they're still open.
‘just gonna cruise down’ *absolutely hammers down the trail
Never get tired watching you racing phil. Excited to see you racing ews 100 this year. Hope more racing to come. Good luck mate

The fact you can ride with that headset making all that racket shows inordinate focus.
Good lord you're fast Phil.... Always enjoy watching the flow (Trail and hair, lol).

Hey Phil! The creaking sound may come from the contact between your stem and handlebar! Add some grease and it's free of annoying sound! Cheers
I greased the headset when i swapped the cranks, and the creaking went away :)
