Anyhow, the scene where the cops held him back, and looked through his things... very intense and felt very realistic in it's own sense. What did you shoot it on? Did you go improv or was the scene with the cops scripted? All in all, very effective little short!

Great job! You told a story with very few words but still said so much. My only critique is that you make every character matter. The friend played a role but the Mom could've added more suspense.
A good kid who was subjected to a stop and frisk. This was a turning point for him and he realized all he had to lose, so he quit drugs and threw his away.

At the end of the day, film messages are subjective. But after reading the plot summary after watching the movie, here's what I understand: main character has a bright future ahead of him, but if the cops had found those drugs (I think it was weed), then that bright future could've come crashing down because of the drug's criminalization. Hence him flushing it down the toilet, at the first safe chance he got, as to not squander that future. This was a very intelligent film and the best short I've seen in years.
Are there any African American short films that does not feature the frik'in ghetto!? Can I see some kind of modern day reality where an African American is living in the upper-suburbs (or higher), doesn't take drugs, that's not obsessed with sports or rap??? (wha-tha fuk!#@)
The only "twist" I'd like to see in an African American short is one without the bloated stereotyping; give me that and you'll have the biggest "twist of all time"!
it is so sad to realize what film has gotten to, these days more attention is on the camera style and lightning technique rather than the story. no hate here but we can do better as film makers
I don't understand the point of this story. Are you trying to say when cops pull-over a young black man they most likely are in fact carrying drugs? I commend you for making a film but this is an awfully damaging stereotype of a story.
Amazing! As a filmmaker, I just love handheld and natural lighting. You're lucky to have such a talented DP. The stop and frisk scene broke my heart
