... and her gift to him was to release him from their complex relationship, which was in the form of an old married couple, providing the basis for his future happiness and success with her full support.
I love how subtly they teased her affection towards him: the fact that the first thing she recalls off the top of her head about him is the women close to him, how his kind words in the letter immediately reminds her of the charity event, and just the overall playful, jabbing banter that you only see between close friends. But they never make it obvious nor force it to develop into anything, they instead reinforce their weird, "hostile-in-a-friendly-way" honesty and connection that they have. Excellent directing, love it when the bonds feel genuine and organic.

Pensil Tumpul I do think that she's 'somehow' nice for firing him. This is because of how he spent most of his time with her and his work that he doesn't have time for himself or probably his girlfriend. The only solution for him to be able to be free from her is for him to be fired from the job. That's also the reason why she said that 'some birds are not meant to be caged' and that he can be free from then on.
She wanted both a career and love...The problem is, can not have both. You will love one and the other gets seconds. Just the way it is. She treated her closest friend Teddy with seconds. She offered him a chance at Love...As she had the chance.

I love the man who wrote the script, excellent use of English vocabularies, especially horse with seizure, giraffe solving complex sudoku etc. He made "Shilo" unique.
She said "You're so far in the closet you could be in Narnia" or something like that and then when she had one guy close to her his name was Edmund! It was a great video. I just had to point this out
These two were perfect together… they were a sort of ying and yang. He, in some respects, admires and disdains her assertiveness, while she loathes and admires his sensitive heart; together they make a complete package. Loved it!

My wife died in Sept 2020. 3.5 months later, on a video call with about 16 other people, I was asked "why are you quiet today", to which I replied "Had a rough weekend". And my Boss said, "What? I'd have thought you'd be over all that by now". These ignorant, hateful people exist.
Just so you know, I read this comment off of Ciel Phantomhive and he didn't get enough attention and hopefully this comment does: Teddy was happy because in his job he spent 11 hours working for Shilo as her assistant, and the boss would do whatever she pleased and was a workaholic. He knew everything about his boss but she didn't bother to know anything about him or give him space to develop his relationship with Kate, so he was unhappy. In the description it says: "For a brief vulnerable moment, she opens up an old wound from her past -- about the man she could never win the affections of. She shows she wasn't always a cynical pragmatist -- that she once felt some heartache, as well. They quickly exchange gifts, in a small show of sacrifice, and mull over the co-dependency they've come to rely on each other for. Then, they both agree to make a change." Which means that by being fired he can now have a different job where he wont feel caged down, and will give him enough time to be with himself and Kate.
Chill Dash Not Kate, that was his old girlfriend. Not Audrey either, Teddy and her broke up because of her suspecting that Teddy and his boss were having an affair. By firing Teddy, he has more freedom and etc.
And eventually fired him because she realised that the ice between the two had been thawed and that in such circumstances an imminent liason could be dangerous on office premises.
That's like the 5th reason she would fire him, he is clearly a great assistant and could keep things professional. The reason she fired him is because she knows he is being over worked by her, caged by her and dominated by her. She knows he won't leave on his own because she is the King. The man is struggling to get a serious relationship and now that he found one, so she set him free. They love each other, but it is more complicated than that. It's a love closer to a Master and a Pet. She realized he is not a pet, but a human.
I do think she wanted him, but not in a romantic sense. Being the stoic she is, she wouldn't ever say it out loud, but she was aware of the ease and comfort she found in him. She wanted him as a true friend, the idea completely different from romance but far closer, emotionally. She looked up to the life he had made, knowing she could never have that. She knew she'd have to lay on the middle of the bed. Quite frankly, i do think that he reciprocated the same, the Gelato cake might have melted away, but he still had the heartfelt wishes on on him. ❤️❤️ My heart goes out to everyone associated with the project. Loved it.!!

Well done, well written! What I got out of it was the display of her personal and character traits reveals the reason she is a successful CEO. If we considered what it might takes to achieve to obtain high levels of success, her personality might be an example! The dialogue was excellently written and I usually am not interested in long dialogue scenes.
These two, combined, sound an awful lot like the ongoing internal dialogue that follows me around in my head. Cognitive dissonance is my constant companion, so I'm forever "bullying, then cowering before, then standing up to myself." So yeah...I really related to this. The bit, towards the end, about the miracle of her simply existing...the "millions of sperm cells" and all that, was a bit overly mushy for my taste, but over all...well done, Omeleto. I never know what to expect when I watch these shorts, but usually at the end I’m happily surprised and impressed at the quality of story; picture, acting and the condensed amount of time such quality film making was achieved.
I keep watching this for its brutal honesty, and emotion on all levels. This is one of the 1st Omeleto films I have ever watched years ago, and damn, this is great content. I do not go for fluff, and this fits the bill for keeping me interested, and caring for the characters, thank you. Enough, about the cat, this is just pure fiction, and I have had cats as pets most of my life, and they are NOT pets, but souls on 4 feet, they literally pick who they wish to be associated with. God, I love Cats, as the Egyptians loved, admired, and worshiped these lovely souls.
Very simply put, no she did not want him in particular romantically, she just wanted the relationship he had and the dynamic between relationships she never had. Dont overthink, its not that complex.
My opinion, she treats him like a child. Yeah that means she's a horrible parent but she loves him ......sad actually because he accepts this as love and this is her only way of showing it. Sad
Is it just me or does their British accent enhance the level of class this short film has? I was contemplating to use the word "posh", and I'm nowhere near the Spice Girls! 😅

This is why I say the best love story is not romantic. This is so beautiful. And that message?? Wow.
The lighting was beautiful. Just gold enough to give a sentimental romantic air to the screen and to offset the memories.
why does this have an Aussie vibe about it
It was made by a small Australian film company Soda Honey Films and their accents give it away. :D
Oh yeah, it's the way she swears too.
Wow! This lady has an amazing accent.
Well that was awesome. Awesome writing, awesome acting, awesome set, lighting, scene transitions, story, you name it. Im a fan.
Good job omeleto you never fail to impress me!
omeleto doesn't make these
Actually, Omeleto just reposts these moving videos
Aurora Ash Isn't that why they are awesome? What are the odds of us coming across these beautiful videos if it weren't for them.
Omeleto never fails to amaze me! I love this channel
So inspirational! This channel is the reason I try my best to be successful.
Rishon Hislop I know exactly what you mean.
Rishon Hislop Go, Reach it! :)
lol if this channel is the only reason u want to be successfull then i am sorry for you
but still go get that paper
Very simply put, no she did not want him in particular romantically, she just wanted the relationship he had and the dynamic between relationships she never had. Dont overthink, its not that complex.
The dialogue is nothing shy of immaculate
My opinion, she treats him like a child. Yeah that means she's a horrible parent but she loves him ......sad actually because he accepts this as love and this is her only way of showing it. Sad
Tina Russell not a parent
Is it just me or does their British accent enhance the level of class this short film has?
I was contemplating to use the word "posh", and I'm nowhere near the Spice Girls! 😅
Natalia A
it's an Australian accent but I get what you mean
Auddyt Faz oh, the two are quite similar and I can't distinguish British from Australian accent. 😅 glad to know that now though.
Natalia A to us brits this accent is abit downhill and retarded.
Bored Engineer Operating Near Groom Lake Detachment 3 just curious though, do British people dislike it when others mistake Australian accent as British? 😶 never having met either one before so i'll just take this opportunity to ask you 😆
Natalia A
I am not British but I know most people rarely confuse the two accents so they will probably not be pissed off
I am a New Zealander and foreigners often confuse our accent with Australia's but we are used to it by now
Nothing compares to this Channel, it's quite beautiful.
When two highly intellectual people have a conversation, It's amazing...
the greatest tragedy in life is to love yet not have that love returned.
wow....12:00
Yeah, that hit hard 💔
That's just called unrequited love. EXTREMELY COMMON, so common as to not even be a tragedy. Just a fact of life.
@@thedolphin5428 I'm glad I was already drunk while reading that!
😥💔
Never been in love. Lucky.
i don't know if this is connected or not
but i loved it when she said 'Susan' and 'Edmund' (i think thays how you spell it) and at first she said Narnia
chris stark I was thinking the same thing. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.

It's what happens in the Corporate World.. But still it was a brilliant conversation between two talented conversor
I think she just wants a friend but doesn't know how. I do t think she wanted to sleep with him. I think they're friends
It's not the correct use of language, Australia has a relaxed lingo even in corporate meetings. Unless you are in a court room.
The greatest tragedy in life is to love, and yet not have that love in return.. she's definitely in love with him.
You got it right!. Somehow he couldn't see it and she couldn't tell him he was the one she was referring to.
Eloquently worded, finely tuned, and beautifully executed.
This, is a cinematic masterpiece. It left me wondering whether it was 12 minutes or 2 hours
Whoever wrote those lines deserves a pay rise..
a pay raise?
@@subarunumber1 They say pay rise in England.
@@katarinasmith4351 I stand corrected. Katarina, you are right. Thanks for clarifying it for me. Live and learn.
"Gonna have to rub me in talcom powder just to find the wet spot" hahaha. That was one of the best conversations I've ever heard. They should do a series. Featuring Sir Mortimer of cause too.
of course*
It’s a line from “your mama so fat”....you would have to roll her in talcom powder etc etc
Gosh, these actors are just incredible...
One of the best shorts I've seen on Omeleto. First class script, superbly acted and directed and beautifully filmed.
