Does bowser do something for the boos? I mean, aside from having him as his troops, as evidenced by "bowser’s minions". If King Boo's motives are to make it so that no one can disrupt boos living in the ghost houses, why won't he barricade them, or create some sort of barrier around them, or literally anything. In other words, if King Boo is the king of his people, then why when he possesses the remains of bowser he does not help his people. they're pretty much in the same state as they were in Super mario world, when bowser was bowser
while I feel that "Bowser Becomes King Boo" makes more sense than "King Boo becomes Bowser", I have to ask: what personality change? in later games and especially the RPGs, Bowser's a complete goofball. interesting idea nonetheless.
Yeah but we quite literally see both of them standing next to each other. I’m pretty sure that these theories are debunked because King Boo has magic and he can most likely cast illusions just like Bowser in some cases.
Yeah, Bowser in Paper Mario: Color Splash and Paper Mario: The Origami King acts the exact same as Bowser in Paper Mario 64, TTYD, and Super, making this theory unlikely to be true
It's a fun theory with some good evidence, but the Mario and Luigi Paper Jam confirms that Paper Mario takes place in a different world, apart from normal Mario games and spin offs
I’m calling bullsh*t, Paper Mario is just an aesthetic choice, and I *strongly* stand by that idea. Not to mention, the star spirits are in Mario Party 5.

Eh, this has more merit than most creepypastas. At least every piece of evidence is something from the actual games. Most other creepypastas are completely made up, and the protagonist has some special unique copy of a game or show no one else has
This theory has a similar problem to most theories involving dreams where the core concept (ghosts, in this case) are vague enough that you can stretch it to justify anything in the theory under the excuse of "ghost powers".
I remember seeing the original video for this theory waaaay back in the day don’t remember what channel it’s from or why so many theory’s got stolen and we’re rewritten and then uploaded to the creepypasta website .
Found the original video discussing this theory from 9 years ago, oof I’m old. It was made by TripleWario (previously known as WWWWario) he “found it on Google while browsing Luigi’s Mansion theories”, didn’t say where exactly he found it or who made it tho.
Oh wow, I had no idea this went so deep. Creepypastas being 'vandalized' really brings me back. I remember when '1999' got a lot of extra stuff added to it by random people that made the original author furious
There is one thing you’ll are missing, at the end of Mario Galaxy 1, The universe gets reset so Bowser would be alive without the assistance of King Boo
The trouble Mario caused King Boo were SMW and SM64 specifically, specially Super Mario 64, the first mission on Big Boo's Haunt is Mario having to defeat ghosts to get to Big Boo, and also the fact that the whole ghost house was a trap for him but managed to get out of it
I like to imagine King Boo *revived* Bowser, but gave the koopa his body back in favor of just fighting Luigi himself entirely, so now Bowser has enough experience with supernatural crap that now, he's capable of straight up controlling his own skeleton alone as Dry Bowser if he has to.
I actually used to believe this theory, but then I grew up and eventually realized that uh… Paper Mario and normal Mario are two different continuities. Paper Mario and Mario are two different characters. Paper Bowser and Bowser are two different characters. Paper Luigi and Luigi are two different characters.
@anonymous_-xi9bl I know, Mario’s still a hero, Luigi is still mostly a coward, peach is still mostly a damsel in destress, Bowser is still a villain, but it doesn’t mean that the events of one also happen in the other.
Well, perhaps not? Not entirely sure if it's only a theory, but I'm pretty certain that the Paper Mario stories do canonically exist as books within the main Mario universe, where the events in Paper Mario are retellings of some adventures the real Mario went on and experienced.
SO… I don’t want to lay a bunch of hate on this theory, but there are some critical issues. First is the event that begins the theory, which is the toads being 1000% confident in Bowser’s defeat. I’m afraid to say that its mistaken a meta joke/classic Paper Mario humor for lore that should be taken seriously. The toad’s are not confident - their insistence that Bowser was defeated is no deeper than citing “trust me bro” as your source. The second major issue is that the theory conflates the various different lines of Mario games, which I think most of us can agree do not share a continuity, most notably Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy. You can’t use any disparate series of Mario titles as proof for a theory for any other series of Mario titles. Especially, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, or any other of the ensemble/sports/racing games are I think explicitly non-canon (not that there is much of a Mario canon anyway), so can’t be used as evidence to anything pertaining to say, Luigi’s Mansion. The only games that can be applied to King Boo are the three Luigi’s Mansion games and probably Super Mario Sunshine, to which I have to say that it is implied that the King Boo we see in the basement of the casino is not the true King Boo. The boos in Sunshine react completely differently to all other boos in any other Mario games, despite Sunshine’s implied connection to Luigi’s Mansion through E. Gadd, and the way they behave seems to connect them to Bowser JR’s graffiti. To me this implies that the Boos in Sirena Beach aren’t real, but further creations of Bowser Jr, designed to look like Boos. This wouldn’t be the first time in this particular continuity that a paintbrush brought ghosts to life (or maybe it is, depending on which of Sunshine and Luigi’s Mansion you think happens first)
Sports and racing games are canon. They are referenced and treated like something that has actual happened mutiple times. Saying they are none canon makes no sense.
I always thought of these things like Separate Universes, like The First few + Most 3D Mario Games are one Universe, The NSMB series are one Universe, Paper Mario is one Universe, M&L are one Universe. I think it would explain a lot of things, like how characters and locations are portrayed completely different throughout the games
yeah I suppose that's true, but honestly? I'd rather believe that then try to figure out every little detail that connects them all, sometimes I think trying to piece together everything would be worse than trying to solve the fnaf timeline lol
There's a lot of holes in this but it's a fun lil theory. Kamek and even Bowser Jr. revive Bowser a lot, Bowser tanks point blank explosions in 64, and Rosalina straight up resets the universe in a big bang event at the end of Galaxy. There's a lot of avenues around it.
Paper Mario is cannon to the mainline universe? I thought it was an alternate universe, because of Mario and Luigi. Also it doesn’t really help the fact that in wonder, bowser and king boo are different entities.
I would argue that most of the different lines of Mario titles are separate continuities, and that most Mario games within each series are only loosely connected to each other. Paper Mario is its own continuity, as is Super Mario Galaxy, as is New Super Mario Bros., as is Super Mario 3D World, as is Yoshi’s Story/Wooly World/Crafted World, etc, etc. The only games from separate series that seem to be connected are Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine, though there’s nothing specifically in Sunshine that precludes the possibility of it being a direct sequel to Super Mario 64
@anonymous_-xi9bl the other 3 still have continuity with the first 3 and still shows that recent events that regular mario been on the new paper mario has also been on. They are shown to be affacted just like the other games so all 6 adventures most likely happened to both Mario's as paper jam established thay outside of the paper aspect the characters are the same in everyway.
Ever wondered why Mario looks more cartoonish than the New Donkers? Watch the video "Why does Mario look more cartoonish than most of the rest of the humans in Super Mario Odyssey?"
Paper jam proves that paper mario universe is not the same universe as the mario and luigi universe therefore it's unlikely to do much for this creepy pasta theory
i feel like the theory holds up until like the revival in Luigis Mansion, like, thats a good theory, he died in paper mario and was revived in luigis mansion to go back to doing his usual bowser shit, but all the crazy shit after is when it looses me.
The theory may have flaws but is the official canon flawless? The existence of "Dry Bowser" shows that Nintendo was willing to create an undead version of Bowser. It seems to me it does not entirely make sense either way, whether King Boo is Bowser or not. Luigi's Mansion seems to have like at least two competing stories within it, the finalized game being a little messy. I think that King Boo is not officially Bowser but i think it is very plausible that King Boo may have been planned to be Bowser during development.
Ok so, what if bowser rather made a deal with king boo long ago, a deal for immortality, in exchange bowser must destroy Mario and eliminate any threats to him, I can’t believe the idea that king boo is controlling bowser at all times. also take a look at the painting of bowser and king boo, the way KB is in the light feels fitting if it was like a deal or something.
Great theory but I think King Boo uses his dark magic to revive Bowser. King Boo is his own being and his form is probably different in Luigi’s Mansion because he is mad with power. In Super Princess Peach, boos had a different form called Mad Boos. Their eyes are yellow with dark shadows under the eyes. Similar to Luigi’s Mansion King Boo’s form only the color of his eyes match the power enhancing crown he wears. In the spin offs, he has no power enhancing jewel in his crown so he is weak and less evil in that form. A fake king boo would make sense in some cases though like in Mario Wonder, in the Boo’s Opera level, King Boo appeared only to be changed into a regular boo at the end of the Wonder effect. Perhaps, when the real King Boo was captured, a regular boo takes place.
The only evidence I see that can be plausible is the king boo portrait. Luigi only gets king boo, the bowser robot dies, and the dimension collapses. So why is a bowser head floating with king boo when he's getting turned into a portrait And why do all of king boo's frames feature bowser?
I know that ths is my problem; but I can not for the life of me concentrate on what you're saying when the video material is something else entirely. Talking about the early SNES levels or Paper Mario while Luigi smacks the un-life out of ghosts in a totally different game is so distracting and exhausting,.. I just can't. :( Sorry.
This theory has so many holes it’s like 100 Monty Moles went through it
A compelling theory on paper ruined by an ridiculous amount of plot holes. I could legit buy this though if not for previously mentioned plot holes
