We took a leap and moved here 3 years ago from Hampton Roads. I can honestly say, moving here was one of the best decision we have ever made. There are great reasons why Blacksburg was named the #1 place to raise kids; it's awesome! Our son LOVES living here. The kids don't sit inside playing video games here...they're out running around, building forts, collecting bugs...just being kids....all day long. I wish I grew up here!
I will say however that were I to relocate to any area served by Nest Realty, I would use that firm. Good refreshing brand in a market of real estate clones.
BBurg Sux - sorry you feel that way, I really am. Is any place perfect? Certainly not. Wish you the best though, wherever you go ... and thanks for the kind words on the video!
Hi Chris, Thanks for the advice, no worries, I am on my way out of here. Just trying to help folks avoid the mistake I made by moving to bburg or at least understand the limitations. B
Holy Jesus DON'T BE FOOLED!! by this video. Blacksburg is a professional and social desert for anyone over the age of 30. Just like a bad move trailer, you just saw the best in this video, the reality is not as good.
Then you obviously haven't connected with the RBTC: rbtc.tech/ Through the RBTC I connect with 200-400 professional technologists and entrepreneurs on a monthly basis here. I'm not an extrovert, and so connecting with the RBTC was the best social/business thing I've ever done.
Henry, you may not be an extrovert, but you are brilliant, successful and a sexy beast as well, it is easy for you. Blacksburg proper is still a pit. Roanoke is pretty nice though, good restaurants and a sweet downtown area.
my husband just got a job offer there and we may move there from Tampa.. I'm afraid I won't be able to find work for myself and I'm afraid we won't make friends or have anything to do. We are in our 30s.
Worst place to live. Literally nothing to do. Everytime in promotions for Blacksburg they say, "There is always something to do" I cringe because it is a total lie.

Love this town silo farm rocks!
The best place I've ever lived.
Grew up in Blacksburg and Montgomery County. This is a wonderful depiction of its true nature.
Well done. Love Blacksburg and Thanks Nest!
Great video!

Rather live here than Shit Frisco for one thing. Not sure if there are that many jobs like this in Blacksburg apart from Rackspace though.

Maybe its because you act like you are over 30 or 50 ?
Blacksburg has nothing but Virginia Tech.
What a downer "bburg sux." If you don't like it - move out. have some authority with your life.

Romo Domo I cringe at that statement because it is a total lie.
