Don't stop the local legend series Spence! Really enjoying it. Just make it GLOBAL legend and race around the world :)
Lots more Parkruns in the UK and Ireland and in Europe than the US according to their map.
I wanna see Spence go pro again. There’s so much from him to be seen yet. I began watching him at 2020 because of the global pandemic and he is one of the reasons I pushed forward and kept going with my running despite the adversity. I’d like to see him find out what works training wise and stick to it injury free for the years to come, because that is pretty much what has messed up his progress.
He’s what, 27? There’s no going pro. Just enjoy the content now it’s been good
Emphasis on sticking to it
Love Spence but the brutal honest truth is he’s not an elite level runner, even when he was technically pro.
Not to say he should ever stop trying because he’s IS a great content creator, charismatic and entertaining. That’s where his true talents lie and he can be more successful doing that than being pro anyways.
I can see The Spesh going for a 2:30 marathon in the autumn.
2:25
1:59
2:45
20 second mile trust
Nice one! Welcome to my old Marathon PR Race Pace 😜! I agree with Roche in terms of Aerobic Development and Base...although I think initially if you start pushing 70-80 miles a week you might want some more doubles actually. And then pivot to Mountain Running 😅?!
Great to see you getting back into shape! So David mentioned you were aerobically underdeveloped… when you worked with Ari and were doing some more controlled slower threshold work and you ran a storming low 14 road 5k… that shows that more aerobic work definitely works for you right? So possibly consider the higher mileage plus some of the controlled threshold work?
GEORGIE!!! Never seen someone run a 4 mile but you're getting fast
Definitely see more of this content!!
Good stuff Spence. I like your idea for the final 2 races of the local legend series. Can’t wait to see those videos!!
So happy for you Spencer
Absolutely incredible
I think you are really at a happy place in your life
😀
this type of content so far is loki the strat really fun to watch
So good to hear you have a plan forward, i hope you can take the increased mileage without injuries :)
Amazing running and form! And at altitude - great job!
You're killing it man! And Chomps gotta be one of the healthiest snacks. 🔥
This is getting crazy!
Love watching you run the mile. Youre amazing mate. An inspiration.
I'd love to see you continue Parkruns even if you stop the local legend series soon. Whether on video or not, the atmosphere there seems great, and the less intense environment is enjoyable and something different.
More content like this 🙏❤️
Good luck with you future plans, just be careful and try to not get injured again, currently im building up to a sub 30 min 5k
Great job
Spence you’re right about the potential benefits of high mileage just be careful about increasing the volume and intensity at the same time
Snack goals! 🏃💯
The local legend can't end just set new legend goals.
I actually love Chomp’s beef jalapeño flavor. That with a fruit beverage after a workout is a go to.
This type of content is good
Time trialin’!
I want you to race again!! Or host a mile race or an 800! :)
I have a friend on an NXN high school cross country team, they do between 80-90 miles a week all of it is 7:30-7:45 except the one workout day which is a fartlek, they never do static rest. They’ve had tremendous success, but I do wonder about the effects that running that much might have on a young athlete.
I’m curious, did you ever try cross training on the bike or swimming to build aerobic base? For me it’s much easier to control heart rate and go longer without injury risk
Georgie on the track is exactly what i needed =D
No spoilers prediction is maybe sub 20 minutes, considering that's not far off of 5k pace and your 5k right now is around 4:56-4:55 or so.
Edit: so technically I was right, 20:04 converted at sea level, but honestly, I think you can run a lot faster than that, maybe even low 19:30s or so. By the way, 20:54 is amazing, that's 5:13 mile pace for longer than 5k at altitude. I'm kind of sad this series is coming to an end soon, but I'm enjoying every single race/running video you post for this series as it keeps me going even when I feel like I hit an all time low. Love the grind Spence! Keep up the great work you do!
MOVE HERE! We love you!
Nothin says recovery like processed meat 💪🏻
as a good fitness test i give my atletes the 6min test. just run as fast as you can on a track in 6 min. curious what your distance will be :)
Do a Backyard Ultra race......100k views, thanks for the content
Boulder content is so nostalgic
We got the Dawg on the track
SPEED
Great run, Spencer! I think I could do 4 miles in that time... on my bike.
I feel like this is setting up for a showdown with Allie in a trail 25K in the fall!!
Dude is definitely looking stronger and fitter.
Hey spence, im 14, been running 50 miles for several weeks, started my workouts for XC, and my achilles tendin has heen flaring up. What did you do for rehab? Thanks!
rest and take a break from running and instead cross train for a bit until it starts to feel better could be a few days a week but doing exercises like that can help while still keeping your arobic ability up
The difficult part about development in the aerobic department is that you often need to slow down and do lots of volume.
For Spencer to take his aerobic engine to an ideal place he would need to consistently log 70-80 mile weeks while being really careful with his intensity, not like he’s been recently with all these challenges, watch over is heart rate, stay strong in the gym, etc.
Is a game of shutting down the ego and being super patient.
Not even trying to be bogus, but what have you run time wise, or what have you coached someone to?
You won't be able to stop Georgie after he comes back down from altitude 😆
Half marathon in the fall?
Hope that training plan works with long miles.
Glad see you so well but be carefull with building up to high mileage and fast paces.
This an advantge from threshold workouts they are serious milage but not super fast and less demanding then faster paced efforts.
Lol Spence Why do you check your watch every 150 meters
More Charlie
that looked almost like a tempo run. form is def improving
this was def more effort than a tempo run
Thought 22 nice
You know what else has 4 miles in it….
The Goggins challenge.
4x4x48…plus the extra one on the end…
I’m actually kind of terrified that you’ll do it and show my semi harassing comments. Lol
Great video though!
Time for Allies coach to coach Spencer
No!! Not the missing 36 meters! 2:28
I think that he can run a 21:26 today
We want Acharya Prahsnat video
4 miles = 6436m. Ok good you recognized it!
4 laps of the track is 1600 meters not a mile!
Eh, it's not too far off to be honest.
Get a life Francis
20 flat
My best 21.20 but was on the roads
God bless you guys the only way to heaven is by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and savior! Do you need prayer or praise over anything my friends? I am so glad God made you guys?
