    Don't stop the local legend series Spence! Really enjoying it. Just make it GLOBAL legend and race around the world :)

      Lots more Parkruns in the UK and Ireland and in Europe than the US according to their map.

    I wanna see Spence go pro again. There’s so much from him to be seen yet. I began watching him at 2020 because of the global pandemic and he is one of the reasons I pushed forward and kept going with my running despite the adversity. I’d like to see him find out what works training wise and stick to it injury free for the years to come, because that is pretty much what has messed up his progress.

      He’s what, 27? There’s no going pro. Just enjoy the content now it’s been good

      Love Spence but the brutal honest truth is he’s not an elite level runner, even when he was technically pro.
      Not to say he should ever stop trying because he’s IS a great content creator, charismatic and entertaining. That’s where his true talents lie and he can be more successful doing that than being pro anyways.

    Nice one! Welcome to my old Marathon PR Race Pace 😜! I agree with Roche in terms of Aerobic Development and Base...although I think initially if you start pushing 70-80 miles a week you might want some more doubles actually. And then pivot to Mountain Running 😅?!

  • @TheFODRunner
    @TheFODRunner หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Great to see you getting back into shape! So David mentioned you were aerobically underdeveloped… when you worked with Ari and were doing some more controlled slower threshold work and you ran a storming low 14 road 5k… that shows that more aerobic work definitely works for you right? So possibly consider the higher mileage plus some of the controlled threshold work?

    I'd love to see you continue Parkruns even if you stop the local legend series soon. Whether on video or not, the atmosphere there seems great, and the less intense environment is enjoyable and something different.

    I have a friend on an NXN high school cross country team, they do between 80-90 miles a week all of it is 7:30-7:45 except the one workout day which is a fartlek, they never do static rest. They’ve had tremendous success, but I do wonder about the effects that running that much might have on a young athlete.

  • @stuarthys9879
    @stuarthys9879 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I’m curious, did you ever try cross training on the bike or swimming to build aerobic base? For me it’s much easier to control heart rate and go longer without injury risk

    No spoilers prediction is maybe sub 20 minutes, considering that's not far off of 5k pace and your 5k right now is around 4:56-4:55 or so.
    Edit: so technically I was right, 20:04 converted at sea level, but honestly, I think you can run a lot faster than that, maybe even low 19:30s or so. By the way, 20:54 is amazing, that's 5:13 mile pace for longer than 5k at altitude. I'm kind of sad this series is coming to an end soon, but I'm enjoying every single race/running video you post for this series as it keeps me going even when I feel like I hit an all time low. Love the grind Spence! Keep up the great work you do!

      rest and take a break from running and instead cross train for a bit until it starts to feel better could be a few days a week but doing exercises like that can help while still keeping your arobic ability up

  • @CarloSnow5
    @CarloSnow5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The difficult part about development in the aerobic department is that you often need to slow down and do lots of volume.
    For Spencer to take his aerobic engine to an ideal place he would need to consistently log 70-80 mile weeks while being really careful with his intensity, not like he’s been recently with all these challenges, watch over is heart rate, stay strong in the gym, etc.
    Is a game of shutting down the ego and being super patient.

    This an advantge from threshold workouts they are serious milage but not super fast and less demanding then faster paced efforts.
