    Excellent vid! You talked about using a SHORTER 7' Rod! Lol - I'll stick with my 5'6"ers for the super tight places I've fished for decades. I'm a Texas Rig plastics guy but need to sling some more jigs! Ur vid was exactly what I was lookin for. Thanks & subbed!

    If your fishing around alot of obstacles trees tall grass basic bank obstacles go to a shorter rod . Especially if your struggling to walk a frog the shorter rod will make a huge difference .

    I remember walking up on about a 10lb largemouth on the peer in Warriors Park out on Ft. Patrick Henry Lake and watching it look up at me. It was near the brush on the uprights out on the outside near the main channel. It stayed there until I pitched at it, and I got to watch it swim off backward, almost like it was watching me the entire time. Thanks Hank

    I agree with all you suggested sir.id add wearing camouflage, and casting from behind or over bushes works great for me. Braided lines,and a high rod tip will get me a few extra sneaky bites. And the frog is a wonderful weedless option when the jig gets hung.and always wear polarized glasses. You can see so much more bait activity, and Match lure color and size to forage. And retrieve speed.

    I have lately been going to a shallow creek with a bunch of lay downs . I do this just to get away from the deep clear lakes I normally fish . I love to flip a jig and T rig sometimes and change it up. I just this year have really started to just chuck a jig in the thick of it and worry about it later lol. I think that's the biggest step is taking the leap and throwing it where the fish are instead of the perimeter of the lay down . Hope all is well bud .

      Dang bro, your editing skills are top notch. Seriously, I'm going to be watching a lot of your videos and be studying. What is your editing software? I use Adobe Premiere Elements...or should say learning how to use it. Been using Kinemaster because it is compatible with my action camera, which makes things easy, since it's a phone based editing app. That said, I'm ready to stop being intimidated by Premiere. The overall clarity is a thousand times better.

    Don’t ever have any luck with swim jigs or flipping jigs. Mostly because I don’t think I’m fishing them right. I use to get so frustrated fishing the bank. I use to think you can’t catch fish unless you have a boat so I just stopped. I picked it back up and going to try again.

    I find 17lb fluorocarbon (or Sufix Siege or Yo Zuri hybrid for those who don't like fluorocarbon) is a great all around line for jigs, at least in the northeast where I live and fish.

    • @BassGeek

    Hey, I'm here off a recommendation from good Ole Debo. Love these shore videos, I am a bank angler here in South Eastern Kentucky. I fish primarily the Lake Cumberland and Cumberland River complex. I deal with mostly clearish water, but after heavy rains it does get really muddy. I'm new to the area so I have no idea what the primary forage is. So I feel like most of the time I'm just taking my lures for a swim and not accomplishing anything. When I do catch something I try to repeat the pattern in similar types of cover to no avail. Basically every time I catch a fish it feels like dumb luck. So Mr. Bass Geek please help me! Signed the Bass Dumbass.

      That lake is tough sir. I know it well. It’s just so steep and deep it’s hard to get a good read on. Man right now it’s gonna be small swimbaits, worms like a shaky head and Ned, and jigs. Slow down hit the high spots and don’t be afraid deep deep water. 50ft is a norm up there

    I have a love/hate relationship with jigs. I dont catch many fish on them, but the ones I do are quality fish. I just cant ever seem to not get them snagged on anything and everything. I typically just throw a Ned Rig these days. They still land me good fish and for some reason arent as snaggy. These were fantastic tips though, Im going to try to get back to jigging and try to get more comfortable with it.

    Enjoyed video - Very informative. 3 questions - when fishing a lake (from boat or shore) that has both shad and bluegill, but very little or no grass - best color to start with? I love the design of trashmaster jig for it's weedlessness.A brushguard obviously helps, but is far from weedless. Having said that - 2nd question - is the trashmaster jig a good bass search bait or would you recommend another bait to search for bass. Last question - I have good electronics (Helix 12 G3N and Livescope), but little experience. I struggle as to where to start fishing when I get to lake - so much water. Do you have a video that may help? Thanks

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a few videos on graphing. Use most of the fishing videos to break down lake and seasonal patterns. The jig is a good search bait if you use a swim jig or if your really I’n a situation where your flipping. There are a lot of search baits. Crankbaits, swimbaits, etc

      @@BassGeek Next time i am at the store i will look for them. I have seen videos where people talk about using swim jigs as a regular jigs for lake fishing. I would be using it in river current as a regular jigs. It probably gets beaten up on a stop and go retrieve dragging on the bottom. River bottom mostly gravel with scattered rocks with some weed beds. On the south side of the bridge where I fish there is a big drop off from the island to the main riverbank on the mouth of the Nashwaak River that flows into the Saint John River here in Fredericton New Brunswick
