+TheCrazyJesus They could offer a model without the touch screen, and no OS for cheaper, and it would still be a nice little daily carry computer to and from work/school for basic task along with some lightweight older games, and I personally think they would sell more of them as well.

But don't feel bad I also have an old Acer 7.9 Netbook with a single core Celeron(32bit only), and 1.5GB of ram(512 soldered onto the board, and upgraded with a single 1GB stick to it's max), 80GB Hitachi HDD and it has 32bit Linux Mint XFCE on it, and it runs really slow, and I can't watch video on TH-cam past 360p in Chrome or firefox with out it chugging to around 5 frames a sec, and overheating.
+TheCrazyJesus I personally would put Linux Mint XFCE, and NeverWare's cloud Ready OS(Open source Google Chrome OS) on it in a dual boot configuration, so when I just need to get basic work done, and don't need to be distracted I'll boot to Chrome OS, but if I need something more robust I'd boot into Mint XFCE, and not have to deal with any of the issues that come with Windows 10 since this machine is not a modern gaming machine, and you can still install some older, and less demanding games in Mint XFCE via Wine, and STEAM/GOG(coming soon) for Linux.
+Organist2020 that does not always work if it's a BGA package on a laptop, because you will then need expensive, and specialized equipment for surface mount work to replace a BGA package the correct way, and at that point you are just better off buying a new laptop.

Not a huge fan of the nub or the keyboard layout of the GPD Pocket, but I do love that I can do some work without lugging around a laptop :) I've been using my GPD Pocket for a few weeks now and it's not that bad :)

Im a freelance nature and portrait photographer and I've been using this since it first came out and i love it. The 1080p screen is great for editing and viewing photos. Plus its small size means i can put it into my camera bag along with my lenses meaning i dont need to go back to a hotel room or my house to edit photos i can sit at a park bench or something of the sort. Its 4 cores and 8gbs of ram handle raw images with little to no problem.

Aice video Austin as always. What I think of the GPD pocket is that they should have put their time into building the GPD XD2. LOL I've been waiting so long for the GPD XD2 and they came out with the GPD win and the GPD pocket before ever redressing the XD2. But again awesome video!

Yeah, right along with the Fujitsu 1120 (which I liked but it is fragile), and the IBM PC 110 (a 386 based palmtop), etc... lots of tiny computers from back in the day... their popularity comes and goes. I may buy once of these once they come out with an AMD Ryzen powered one.

Honestly, in this era now if I want a small machine I'd probably just go with a 2 in 1 (Surface, etc) and be satisfied with that.

win has 4gbs of ram, which isin't even a limiting factor on a device that small unless your really really pushing it like iv'e been with my own gpd win. trying to play dark souls 3 , witcher 3 and fallout 4 doesn't really work :P

It's a good digital notebook, if you quickly want to write notes (that you can read) when following a lecture or have random thoughts.
seems like it would be perfect for doing a bit of gaming video watching etc on a long flight or if you plan on going for a trip and need to do something with a computer but don't have the space for a full sized laptop

Far too expensive to be considered for the majority of consumers. IF they got the cost down to 200-250 US dollars, then it would be justifiable to purchase. The need for this item doesn't require this to be as expensive as it is, because the majority of people don't need this to be powerful nor fully capable.

I quite enjoy these more out there videos you don't see on your run of the mill tech channels. Never would I have known something like this even exists. It's obviously not a gaming laptop but I find it impressive that a small device like this can even run full fledged PC games. I'm sure there's a market for these things, be it for gadget fans or just people looking for a small device to run their windows applications on.

Could be worse. My school spend thousands on brand new Ipads they never use at all, but we're still running ustable Pentium 4 desktop machines with missing DVD drives. Now they're upgrading them with SSD's that cost more than the computers itself, and everything is loaded off of a server anyways!? they're also never shutoff, so the ssd is essentially useless. Not even sure if it's sata 2, so one more reason why they're clueless.

This really did not do the GPD any justice for what it actually is. Its a NETBOOK. Not a tablet, laptop or a 'gadget'. I think weve forgotten that netbooks were a thing.
Im getting sick of these lazy reviews, its boring, and it doesn't give innovative tech companies the review they deserve.
Reasons why this was a poor quality review (for those who are interested, please read, and please upvote):
1: You didnt give us the link for where to get one (its $400 at the moment): www.indiegogo.com/projects/gpd-pocket-7-0-umpc-laptop-ubuntu-or-win-10-os-laptop--2#/
2: You didnt really touch on the capabilities of this device at all: using youtube and then the normal version of minecraft is subpar:
This device is actually capable of playing GTA5 with a reduced settings mod, or even Overwatch. Really this designed to run older games anyway, it will run games like Half Life 2, GTA SA, CS:GO.
3: More on that, you didnt run any benchmarks, so we dont know how to compare this to other Windows 10 devices.
4: You didnt really show a proper usage scenario. You should have used a bluetooth mouse and controller with it, to show how you can just bundle it into your bag etc.
5: You didnt actually test the battery life under normal usage, or literally at all (if this were a laptop review, almost everyone will see if it actually works for 12 hrs).
6: Dont just say "itl probably not be good for video editing" actually do some tasks on it, dont be lazy, actually use the damn thing. The video would be far more interesting.
7: With a indiegogo campaign of almost $3,000,000 from 7280 backers, this is a pretty serious thing. This could signify the return of netbooks in some form, being that devices are able to be this powerful in this size.
All you did in this video was pretty much unbox it, read the specs off of the website, play a youtube video for 2 seconds, plug it into a monitor and play minecraft. You can do better then that Austin.

This would be perfect as a car tuning laptop that could always stay in the glow box and be available. I would get it if i wouldnt have laptop already.
I think that laptop is actually very amazing because of what it can do although it's not the best without a mouse that is quite a wonderful invention in my personal opinion.

You'd be surprised. I actually find the keyboard very usable on the GPD WIN. Also, mouse control is great using the joysticks, seriously. I couldn't imagine using the nub on this being even half as simple.
I really want the GPD Win. I'm kinda upset that they made this and not a GPD Win 2, coz the GPD Win has some minor issues.

Getting close to the size of the Gameboy Micro, this would be an ideal portable emulation station for sure. Some headphones, an SNES/NES/SEGA controller, you are set for vacation!

doc8125 I guess, since it has controller input. The GPD Pocket and the GPD Win have the same processor however, so for general use the GPD Pocket is much better.

InvalidSudo That's what I thought, the GPD Win has the same CPU and a built in gamepad, also it is cheap I think. The GPD Pocket has a bigger keyboard (because no gamepad), slightly larger screen and more RAM. Also it is more expensive I think. So, basically if you want to do some light gaming with older or low spec modern games or emulators you should go for the GPD Win (you could also do game dev if you targeted something simple like Pico 8 or Love, it definitely wouldn't be able to handle a scene editor for a modern high spec engine like Unreal or Unity though, at least not very well). If you want to do more than that you might want to go with the Pocket though the Win can do things that don't require that much ram.

I absolutely love the hardware on this thing like this hinge is so nice, however, keep in mind it is a tad bit thick. But what I really do like is just how nice this device feels, although it might be on the chunkier side of things, it's not that bad. There are few compromises with this laptop, aside from side, the thickness is really the only thing that stands out, but even then, it's reasonable considering all thats packed inside.

I know I'm commenting WAAY late on this but I wanted to mention what I use UMPCs for. Basically, most people would use a tablet or phone but I prefer the laptop form factor. I can access my work computer remotely and have full pc functionality even when traveling and stuck at a hotel. And for office applications it's better than any phone and easier to use than a tablet. Plus it's so compact and portable. And if I decide I feel like a video game or movie or even to get some work done while on a plane or train or bus, it's much easier to use than a laptop or tablet.
