to answer the question around 20:20 : yes. most highest level play involves memorization of older games and finding where they went wrong. If enough people repeat that same beginning it eventually gets written down and becomes a "book move".
Chess clocks are needed to keep the game fair and ensure both players know when they can go back to their lives - high level classical games take hours to play each game. Clocks are needed for tournaments to ensure players don’t have to wait literally days for their next match. There are some players I won’t even play casually without a clock because they’ll sit there for hours without a clock when I want to play a 30 minute game.
Chess clocks also add new categories of competition, aka time controls. In addition to classical, slow chess, there is rapid, blitz, and bullet chess. Each version is played very differently, and different players are better in each time control
I don't understand how someone couldn't make up their mind after a few minutes max. Are they playing out every possible future in their minds for every move they could make? I guess I can understand that if it's a tournament and their ranking is on the line, but casually? Sheesh, it's just a game.
I got 8 casts recently, and the title Master Caster that I didnt even know existed.... 8 Artemis casts + Exit Wound+ Quick Reload melted Hades so fast i regretted not having EM4 on that time..
what are best casts to go for playing Hera? Now I see him wanting Atherna cast, while I saw somewhere that artemis was good or that short purple cast? THanks! :)
@@domagojgrcevic6055 Artemis', Aphrodite's are the easiest to use. Athena's can backstab, works amazing if u get backstab bonus or Parting Shot. Dionysius makes the casts faster. The rest are not that easy...
ive been following you on youtube and on twitch for quite a long time and i cant imagine how boring it must be for your by now to do all these runs over and over again and play the same thing over and over again but just know that whenever i feel bad and have some really though times, like i am having right now, knowing that i can just relax to a haelian video brings me joy and takes me out of those shitty times, even if its just for 30 mins or so. so yeah, just thank you for what you do and know that you are making a difference in peoples lives, even if it doesnt feel like it sometimes.
Thanks for the kind words. =) I promise it's not THAT bad, I never really force myself to play any game I don't feel like for very long if at all, I'm just a complainer. As you can see in the video, I can still get surprised at times in Hades.
@@Haelian thats good to hear. still, thanks a lot for all the years of fun content! looking forward to hopefully many more years of fun games and weird random topic discussions to come XD
You got me back into HADES with your amazing content, keep up the great work man! I just hit a 14 min run, which may not be that good, but it's my new pb!
Same. Got 100s of hours on my switch the first time. Now I got another hundred on my Playstation (rip my switch) and I 100% it. Everytime I watch a video makes me want to play
Good run! (Chess babling incoming.) On other note, have no idea what the OP meant when they said about promoting to chess pieces after runs. I'm intrigued lol. As for your questions (though take with a grain of salt), yes, preparation/memorisation goes deeper than opening, if we're talking high level. For instance, look at this match: th-cam.com/video/dUneC7rbyB8/w-d-xo.html Arjun vs. Nihal. He prepped up to the endgame, to have an advantage of rook vs. knight and a loooot of time (14 min vs. 30 seconds). I believe he had a similar game vs. Pragg. It is made possible by chess engines, but also by analysing previous games. There are chess databases that show what your opponent likes to play so you can look it up and prepare against that. ...well, memorisation plays such a big role that there are variants that try to counter it, like chess960, randomising starting positions. As for time controls, this is not for the sake of the viewers, at least not primarily. I bet most viewers cannot keep up with something like hyperbullet (30 seconds for the whole game) or even bullet (one minute or one minute +1 second per move). They play it sooo fast. Also, classical (30 minutes games + some time added) can drag for hours. There recently has been a game between Magnus and Nepo, which lasted 8 hours (th-cam.com/users/livePWkBeTwbfj4). I feel like it's mostly made for the players and organisational purposes. First of all, players do not tire much, cannot simply drag time so that their opponent makes mistakes, etc. And, secondly, so that you can plan the tournament and not have some crazy people play for two days straight.
5:50 I LOVED Tower Tactics Liberation ! I played 20h since your video. And I wouldn't mind other video about it, I can't find a lot of useful information on this game (discord, forum, wiki, ...)
I believe there is at least one video somewhere here of it. For some run ideas, there's always a possibility that A) I did it and it didn't work out/was not very exciting and so it didn't go to YT or B) there were multiple angles to advertise the video and the particular idea was not mentioned in the thumbnail/title but was still in the video (typically because it didn't seem very important).

You said at the start you’ve done everything. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never seen a rip current build from ya?
Bruh, of course he's done that

hades is just a fishing game with roguelike qualities
Phalanx steaks on the menu
that ending text lmao
About memorisation in chess: it is the thing Bobby Fischer argued would ruin chess, but it is fairly critical to competitive play nowadays.
Shout out to Lightning fuh-LANKS
Phalanx ❌ = Flanx ✅
i hear some folks pronounce it Failinks?
Lighting phalanx is my fave duo boon. But hit me up when you get 8 casts 💪
why not 7? :((
because God is dead and we have killed him
Chess is coming
