its a basic vfx technique known as a screen wipe or frame wipe, basically when sometime moves across the frame quickly (usually very close to the camera) acting as a transition between cuts. when done well it feels very seamless, and when done perfectly its hard to even see a wipe without viewing frame by frame. the wipes in this are done very well, but arent subtle. moving sideways through a portal, facing a wall etc. in the first portal to the original levels, the wipe is actually the most hidden, its done by getting very close to the white platform, at that point i believe there is a jumpcut to a different white platform, containing the portal to the level.

Having recently replayed Portal 2, I _recognize_ all those maps you flew through at 2:40. It's really weirding me out.
Same without playing the game thru
Yet Another same
I was somewhat taken aback at the discontinuity, like "wait, that map is nowhere _near_ where we are!"
Same, i just finished the game during chrismas vacation
I have played that game like 3 times
I thought this was really cool with the custom level already, but as soon as the transitions to the actual game started, my jaw freaking *DROPPED!* Absolutely incredible, seamless transitions, good music, great syncing. All in all, amazing job!
I love how the gun also moves along with the music
Omg, I never noticed that until I read it
Where
Its not synchronized with the song at all

1. This is an absolute art form
2. I am definitely not smart enough tp understand any of this
3. You are fantastic

The thing is, I am.
As if the experience isn't already great to begin with
This video gave me chills (the good kind). Excellent work!
This map isnt perfect sync,
The player is.
RubyPiec how does this have 500 likes and no comments 😂😂
You just ruined that, bud.
New Coke or I just enhanced it
Well here's the fourth one

this is the best video editing ever. like, even the inside of portals got edited for the next level in the end part!
Dude, you just ended the year 2019 with such an incredible video for me - thanx man - 2020 can come XD

Thank you for pointing that out
I just started the year with this

Me at the end: *MASTAPIECE*

Yo wtf you playin' around my halls

At first i thought you said 'balls' like the little sphere-shaped weighted cubes at 1:49
I’ve watched this several times now and every time I notice something new that syncs up. Extremely impressive.
That was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.
agreed.
Why isn't this a trailer for Portal?
Because this isnt how you play portal
Plus this was made a year ago and portal is here for more than a decade
@@controlledby4865 I am aware. I only said what I did as a way of expressing how amazing this video is. The comment was rhetorical.

I feel like this could've been the trailer for portal 2
Except we don't really see any plot points here.
This is the most creative thing made with Portal I've ever seen and the final edit is an ode to the game itself. Congratulations and thank you for your dedication!
