Denzel Washington lights up the room when Asha Blake interviews him for Later Today on NBC

- Academy Award winning actor Denzel Washington gave me an amazingly honest interview right after he was nominated for an Academy Award for The Hurricane (1999). In his sweatshirt, sweatpants and tennis shoes, he was funny, charming, and slightly devilish with some of his answers. Surprisingly, before the interivew, he mentioned he was a big fan of of an overnight show I did perviously ( World News Now). What! Denzel is watching! I really needed to up my game for sure I thought to myself. No more slouching on the set...no more eating during stories...this was going to take A LOT of work :) I ran into him a few times after this interview and he was just as charming.
The most charismatic, the most talented actor of my lifetime. He grabs attention on sight. Wonderful interview.

He is my favorite but Will Smith, Tom Hanks, Al Pacino, and Cadwick Boseman are right behind him.....IMO

This man has an incredible gifted talent, that we truly don't appreciate until he is gone. There is alot of young talent out there, but Denzel's gift is something else. Just watch his movies. Live and learn.

Hi Tracey - none taken at all. I've done hundreds of interviews over 25 years and this was one of my favorites. Denzel was in a wonderful mood that morning and was a true "shining star" in every sense of the word. I'm glad you noticed that I was enjoying myself immensely! Thanks for the comment.

Brilliant interview. This is the 2nd interview I have ever seen him relaxed, and truly engaged, the other one was with Queen Latifah. He's very cautious about whom he lets his guard down around. And rightly so.
