Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of the demo for Mortal Kombat Shinobi (MUGEN).
Mortal Kombat Shinobi has a slightly different fighting mechanic to the previous MUGEN MK games i've played, making it somewhat fresh and interesting.
I see real potential for this to be a solid game; can't wait for the full version.

Considering the website for this game hasn't been updated since 2013, I think its safe to say this game is never getting a full release. Shame, it had some interesting concepts and it looked pretty cool

You can actually beat the original Arcade versions by using the "test mode" feature on your Mame emulator or by using cheats. The game gets a little easier. Oh, and the moves list for mugen chars are usually in the character's folder, so check that out.

This game is still in active development and I've been following updates. It's looking real sweet so far. I can't wait to play as characters such as Smoke and Hydro when it gets released.
One other thing, I understand how the fatals were meant to be kept secret like the arcade games, but like he said, there should've at least been a list on how to do them. In addition to Fatals, Friendships and stage fatals, there's also input fatals (i.e. the Armageddon styled fatals) Suicides, Brutals, and even Annihilation, which are honestly too hard to figure out how to do especially since Brutals and Annihilations aren't done when Finish Him appears. I've tried to figure out how to do Scorpion's Brutal and I would've assumed it would be the same as Trilogy, but that's not the case. I did manage to do Scorpion's Suicide once, but it was by complete luck since I was just mashing buttons at this point. It would've been a lot better if this was explained in game. Otherwise this is great work.
pro tip, unless borg somehow manages to obfuscate them you can check the inputs yourself, i think it might be in one of the defs included with each character

The artificial intelligence in all Mortal Kombat games was what made me prefer Street Fighter 2 where you at least got a fair fight.
I wrote several video games back around 1991-1994 and the way i made my fighting games fair was to get the computer to pick a number from 1 to 10 whenever you attacked. If the number was 5 then it blocked the attack, anything else got through so you had a 1 in 10 chance of an attack being blocked, a 9 out of 10 chance of it landing.
As you got further into the game it would pick a number out of 9, 8, 7 etc. so eventually on the final boss you only had a 20% to 30% chance of a hit landing. It's such a simple system and if only someone would put this into an MK game then they'd all be instantly more fun and progressively harder instead of just being impossible after the first fight.
well actually mugen suppots it since 1.0 version detecting the ai level set in options. however in this demo that was released I didnt implement this feature just yet. I wanted to test those tactics and gathered some opinions about the difficulty in total. in later versions the level you see above will only be met at difficulty 6 or higher (out of 8). next time i'll use the formula similar to what you described, just a bit more complex.

I dig both games regardless, both have their good qualities. I prefer Mortal Kombat slightly more because of it's setting.

That Cyrax fight was tremendous
i think with the final fight, its your inner demon that if he kills you pretty much becomes you and you become the inner demon trapped inside. you can tell asbhe turns to color you start turning black. So I think he starts stealing your life force or soul what ever. Cool concept.
It is cool, but why is the demon an alien?
I know this video is ancient and this probably won't be read by anyone, but my god this may just be one of, if not the best MK fan game I've ever seen. Shame people had to be dicks and ruin the development.

@@itzzbn8872 there is/was an MK fan game dev who was notorious for starting drama, trolling, and flame wars with any game that wasn't his own. And because he had a rabid fanbase for his games (which mostly used cheap copies or outright stolen characters with no credit given) this would dishearten and often lead to the devs on the receiving end of the hate to close down development.

Thank you my friend. I just let the channel 'advertise itself' so-to-speak. If people want to subscribe, they can. If they don't want to subscribe, then that's fine too. It's just about doing something I enjoy. And I enjoy doing these videos. I will keep making them, and yep, I plan on doing a playthrough of MK Deception aswell as it's Konquest mode.
Its hilarious, yet understandable, that just talking about the AI already stresses MrGStar out by looking at the difficulty screen.
Too bad a full version of this game has not been released... looks kinda interesting!

That alien/clone version of Sub-Zero looks like Noob Sailbot
I think the reason for the black screen being on for too long is because it is detecting what character it is using, so it can put the correct Doppelganger against you. I think there are currently 4 doppelganger characters, it just so happens that the Sub-Zero doppelganger looks like Noob Saibot.
Team Mode (or Turns which is called for other MUGEN games) you can choose 2-4 characters

Also, you haven`t noticed that all AI players (except for generic enemies) have a lot of different AI tactics, that defines their behaviour. Current tactic name can be seen on a battle-plan screen when your enemy is introduced. AI Tacticts differs very much, some of them is aggressive, some based on special moves and projectils, some is deffensive. If you`d read tactic before battle and know its weak and strong spots - it is MUCH easier to win the battle. :)

love how sub zero pulls his mask off to do the freeze breath fataity. lot of good combos and stuff as well, i just hate using keyboard to play em cause for some reason the controller i use on pc will only let me configure analog stick not the dpad and who the fuck wants to play mk with analog

Pleas can somebody help me ? I'm new in trying game editing with MUGEN, i want to unpack MK4 and start to edit the characters skins. But i can't find any specific information's/videos on exactly how to do that. So if it can be explained in a text message on how you edit and repack the game with MUGEN, pleas enlighten me !!!

Thank you for the reply bro, but what program can i use then ? Because i downloaded from MK Secrets some cool skins variations of MK4. And i want to do a little editing myself, i had a program long time ago that i used to convert the skin files in bmp. I made all the mods that i wanted to the texture. But the damn thing didn't want to reconvert the files back to their original state.

Dude . That's freakn rad man. Maaaan..I wish the actual makers of MK can really make a new new 2D version of MK. Like a real,real MK4 (after MK 3 ultimate)instead of the virtual version(which was a heartbreaking travesty).with real actor photo graphic simulation. Hahah, I dunno ... I can't think of one at the moment. All of them involved exploiting the AI to some degree.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy, hack 18 is really impressive. I didn't like Hack 21 and 22 as much, since it didn't have Scorpion's Hell Hand fatality, which is one of my favourites.
