Just signed up for the virtual Disney marathon for this Summer, I want to run a marathon at WDW next year and thought this was the best way to get started. Thank you for this video.
I want to do this. I think this is a great idea for Disney and for myself. I’m trying to get in shape and this is another boost of motivation for me. Idk if I want to do all three but I’m gonna think about it
I'm so grateful Disney did this this year because this got me running! I've HATED running my whole life, but when I learned about the virtual half-marathon and saw that medal, that was it - I was finally willing to try! So I finished the Star Wars half and have since done four more virtual half-marathons - all since February! One of my favorite parts is that they all donate part of the registration fee to charity. So I'm getting exercise, I'm helping worthy causes and I get medals! Where's the downside? ;-) Thanks for the vid!
I’ve never been a runner but signed up for the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon anyway and used it to start getting into running more. It definitely helped that you can break it up b/c there is no way I could run a half marathon all in 1 go. I will be 100% signing up for the marvel challenge and am going to try doing each 5K without breaking it up this time. I'm so excited!!! Which is crazy b/c I've never been excited about running before!

I live in Australia and have done the 5km virtual for the last 2 years! I give my mum the package/medals and she awards them to me at the end of the month ☺️ I do a think called parkrun Avery Saturday morning, which is a free timed 5km run ☺️ EASY medals

I’ve done Harry Potter themed virtual races before, and one of them you just logged your distance and time after each leg you did. What was cool about that is they actually used Google Maps to track your run on a REAL route from Aberdeen to Dufftown, Scotland, which runs 52 miles (with a 90 day timeframe). So essentially, with each check-in, you saw how far you’d traveled, as well as a view of where you were.
Now that I know the theme of each of this summer's races, I think I might sign up for the challenge as a way to get me ready for my first half marathon at Wine and Dine!

Hi Sarah!! Hope you're still checking the comments a year later...I had a question: once you complete the virtual run, what happens next? I've gone online and put my time in to get a finisher certificate...then what? Will the medal just automatically show up in the mail? Do I have to do anything to let Disney know that I finished the run? THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME! Haha, Thanks!
Any thoughts about biking/swimming/hiking the miles instead since it’s self-reported anyway? Running has been discouraged by my doctors in the past due to my wonky knees 😕
How much do the virtual races cost? I am trying to improve my fitness and I think this would be a great opportunity(plus I’m a big Disney fan😁), just not sure about how much.
Great Vidio love the look of the marvel ones there doing really interested in doing them but can you do the virtual races in the uk or do you have to live in America to do them and get the medals?
Walk/ run in increments. A good resource is the Couch Potatoe to 5K fitness program which you can just Google. I believe it's a 6 or 8 week program, and it works. Just remember to listen to your body and take it slow.
You can use google maps if you’re outside without a tracker, a fitness tracker watch or phone app if you have a smartphone, the treadmill’s readout, or even buy a cheap pedometer. Anything that can tell you distance 😊

Nope that's all you do! You go to finisher certificate and enter it all and then they will mail you the medal :)

I would saying biking/swimming not equivalent to running, but hiking or elliptical would be fine.
