  • Exactly one year ago today marked the tragic deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant. The NBA legend and his 13-year-old daughter were among 9 people who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Southern California. Earlier this month, Vanessa Bryant posted on social media that she hoped people would celebrate the lives of Kobe and Gianna instead of fixating on how they passed as today approached. Hear what Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe have to say about the great life of Kobe Bryant.

I remember I woke up early that Sunday morning to take the metro train to the shoe store, and then I headed over to my parents home. It was calm and cloudy, the way I like it. I felt good, and I feel better when I visit my folks. I was flipping through the channels when I saw the headline BREAKING NEWS KOBE BRYANT KILLED IN HELICOPTER CRASH. Kobe was my idol growing up and it felt like getting punched in the gut. It hurt bad. It doesn't feel like a year has passed, but then I close my eyes and think about everything that has happened in between and realize that we have been through a lot, and the world is completely different.

@D the truth of it is most people live an insignificant life with very little impact outside their small circles. Not Kobe. He gave so much and had so much more to give

I heard the news thru phone call that day when I was in my car inside the grocery store parking lot, I just sat in my car for like half an hour before I could even start my car and drive back home just being in shock and disbelief

Its sad how no one acknowledged Kobe when he first retired, he was known as being selfish, bad teammate, no one wanted to play with him, he dont wanna pass the ball, and he wouldn't even be a topic on this show, now people wanna cry over him smh.He was somewhat selfish but he still one of the GOATS.

People like Kobe post 2017 because of his “second act” where he would reach out to athletes male or female, pro or amateur and help them with their skills as well as his relationship with his daughter, his show Detail, and his brand.

Thank you for your acknowledgements of one of the greatest of all times. It just bothers me that it at times while he was here people tried to drag him and his reputation. As well as, all the comparisons instead of enjoying the greatness that was presented to us in the moment. NOW, that we don’t have that opportunity, we NOW want to give him his due.. let this be an example of we need to do for the greats that we still have the chance to, whether it’s athletes, family members, or just someone you look up to. Everyone have a great year and stay safe. 💯

I’ll never forget where I was, sitting at home in my man cave and my brother text me to tell me about it and I didn’t believe it and was just on Twitter thinking it’s a joke, I cried a little bit and then I read about Gigi and I just lost it at that point. A year later and I still tear up about this cause Kobe was like family, most of us watched him from his rookie year till his last game. R.I.P to all of people involved and to Kobe and Gigi

I was in a dark place but remembering everything he stood for, everything he represented . . . to continue that and live everyday with that same mamba mentality. Prayers that we as a world can be there for the Bryant family as we/they continue the mamba and the mambacita's legacy 💛🐍
