Steve: "Bloody hell, I *am* pretty good aren't I? Bit of a revelation."
Rest of the planet: "Yes Steve. You are."

I got hooked on Marillion about 20 years ago when I saw an album cover of “The Thieving Magpie”. The artwork intrigued me so much I thought ‘What a cool theme for a band’. Once I listened I fell in love with the band.
Steve Rothery is by far one of the best guitarists on this planet. The only other guitarist that matches up with him is Alex Lifeson from Rush.
Steve Rothery not only plays music. He feels it. He capable of walking up to the front of a stage and completely mesmerizing an audience with such a haunting guitar solo it sends chills down your spine. If possible his guitar could speak into your soul , it’s amazing.
You can truly feel his emotions through his music. There are only a handful of guitarists which can truly have the talent to do this.
Although I’m a country music artist. I would be absolutely to have Steve Rothery be a guitarist for me in a project someday. I honestly believe he could do anything guitar related and have so much respect for him and the entire band.

Steve mentions David Gilmour, Andy Latimer and Steve Hackett as his main influences. Oh my... these giants, icluding Steve of course, are in my musical life for over 40 years now. And they all still make great music to this day!

We're Marillionaires, Rothie! From a 16 Year old little bloke born in México ('69) moved to British Columbia, Canada (Vancouver) ,,,telling You, You made my life. Darkest moments "Kaleigh" moved me to tears. You touched this kid's heart ❤️ and tenderly brought it back to life during my parent's divorce. We Love You

And you made me even happier, when you were in the city where I live, Santos / SP, visiting a beloved fan of the band, and generously played wonderfully as always, one of your memorable songs, accompanied by musicians from the city. Steve is an underrated guitar player, even in this interview he felt himself in the past as an imposter as he said,It's funny how he find how good It was rediscovering an álbum made It in 1991,so hilarious, for me It was so good right from the start even when he was a Young lad making his first album, his tone, good taste to put a good note in the right place, make more sense for me than lots of notes going nowhere, although he's capable to play faster if he would, but he's mòving in another path.Such an humble bloke.

Ooh, by the way mr. Rothery, could you please do a few videos with guitar tabs for my 16 year old son sometime? He picked up the electric guitar (a Fender Stratocaster-copy) only last year and studies very hard. Right now he's doing the two solos of David Glimour in Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd) and he promised me to do Easter, This Strange Engine and Afraid of Sunlight if he could find someone showing him the tuning and the tabs. What better way than to be shown by the Maestro himself? Cheers!
