  • In this video my wife & I go for a quick overnight trip to Lake Pleasant Arizona. I wanted to test out this new 3 SECOND TENT I bought. The 1st night wasn’t too bad, but wait until you hear what happened by the 3rd time I used this tent.

    I just saw an ad for this tent and decided to do a little research. Very happy I came across this video!
    Yourself and a couple of the other viewers comments have convinced me this is not a good option for what I am looking for.
    Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Welcome to the buyer beware club. I purchased the larger tent set it up and even put on 4 guy lines to stabilize the tent. I had the tent up for appx. 3 hours on a windy day with between 20-30 mph . The tent was destroyed within 3 hours. My issues were the poor or almost nonexistent sewing of the tent stake loops to the tent body. Two of the loops literally pulled away from the tent body. The only had one single crappy line of cheap thread holding the strap to the tent. Two corner straps came off due to poor sewing. I also was concerned about the cheap fiberglass poles and joints. I had the same issue with the joints bending and almost breaking. I had to take the pressure off the pole joints by attaching a guy wire above it to keep it from breaking. If i were to purchase this tent again, which I won't it would NOT be over $20 and use it for a kids' backyard tent. I resewed all of the tent stake straps to the tent with the proper nylon thread and made several passes on the sewing to the tent body. I figure the tent body will fail before the straps fail and I also seam sealed all my handy work. I did not have time to test the tent for waterproofing. I think the rod joints are just for folding. All things being equal they should have just put regular fiber poles for the tent without joints. I would rather take 3-5 minutes putting a tent up and NOT worrying whether it was going to self-destruct at the worst possible moment due to crappy workmanship bordering on public safety. Now this tent is going to be a project of mine to see if I can wipe the lipstick off this pig and make it into something usable. Oh, I have a solution to slippage of your guy lines if you have that issue. Simple cheap fix. Plastic Cord Locks - Single Hole Spring Loaded Toggle Stoppers, Lock Cord on Drawstring Laundry Bags, Luggage, Tents and Clothing. Place these just below the tension lock on your guy lock so it can;t slip.

    I bought their large size tent. Set it up in the living room first to see if it really took 3 seconds. For me about 30 seconds only because the legs kept folding in at the joint. Used it once on an airplane camping trip. Set up was maybe 10-15 seconds. Yes the key is to get the spider fitting on top locked down. The material is pretty flimsy but it worked. I would call this a two man tent at best. Four kids under 10 sure. Zippers are fair with the key not to get any fabric caught in the zipper. Break down went a little smoother again once you understand the spider mechanism it breaks down real fast. Then fold the legs in half and roll her up. I had no rain or wind the night I camped and for just one person at 5’ 10” and 250 pounds it was fine. Overall I’d give it a 4-5 out of ten. Reason being how long it will last.

    I can see this being an excellent option for elderly/ disabled people to set up inside as a micro climate for power outages. I would have them put it on their bed but they'd have to have a big enough bed to fit on it.
    *"I'm Fun sized...."*
    I'm 5'2" so I can still ride kids bikes and fit on playground equipment 😅
    Edited to add: I think that's a throw away tent. Kind of like the ladders that you let loose to climb out a second story window for a fire. You have to buy two if you want to practice.

  • @tungstenkid2271
    @tungstenkid2271 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Puddle Alert ! -Ive just bought the small sized one, and although workmanship is good, a major design flaw is that the top is not domed or even flat, but actually sags to form a "crater" or rain trap . Don't take my word for it, checkout some vids.
    The small "top cover" doesn't cover the whole crater, so any rain falling towards the outer edges of the crater will run inwards towards the centre and form a puddle which might then trickle down the centre spindle into the tent.
    I'll try making a bigger top cover myself out of spare waterproof material to cover the whole diameter of the crater which should solve the problem.

      I still use my Northface Windy Pass that I bought in 1985. It’s got over 200 set -ups and take downs.

Shipping prices suck post covid and it takes awhile to get here, but they stand the test of time.

According to how many stars they have received. Hopefully this will turn out better now that they will be taking part in a long bike ride. It is of course wise to spend a lot of money in one tent if you are going far, but you can have luck with a cheap tent as well. Have always had a tarpaulin and put a tent over it if they have really started to rain .

    Also, be aware the small size tent weighs a hefty 6 pounds which is a bit heavy for backpacking on foot or bicycle, so I think a motorbike or vehicle is needed.
    Suggestion to the tentmakers- bring out a 1-person version to cut down the weight.

    • @boneseyyl1060
      @boneseyyl1060 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You aren't cutting the weight, you are just making it smaller. And anybody buying a one person tent for hiking or back country, isn't going to buy this piece of shit TH-cam scam. They would be laughed off the trails.
      And it is a bit expensive for a backyard kiddie tent, which is all it is good for.

    • @tungstenkid2271
      @tungstenkid2271 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@boneseyyl1060 A smaller version would be lighter, ye canna change the laws of physics..:)
      I've been camping for over 50 years with many assorted tents including the 3-secs and it ticks most of the important boxes for me such as ease of erection when people are drunk or stoned, freestanding on hard ground which can't take tent pegs, excellent workmanship, dark green colour to avoid attracting aliens and Bigfoot, overhanging door porches to keep rain out of the mesh doors when open.
      Its only fault is its heavy 6-pound weight.
      PS- how does anybody become a tent designer, i've got a few ideas of my own to plug some gaps in the tent market?

    • @boneseyyl1060
      @boneseyyl1060 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tungstenkid2271 You can make any tent lighter by making it smaller. And your other points apply to just about any tent out there as well. The problem with this one is that it is cheaply made. It's marketed as a tent for dummies and that is what it is. You would have to be a dummy to buy it.
      How does one become a tent designer? Check if your ideas have patents first. Maybe do some mockups to prove your design and then next step would be look for investors or possibly a GoFundMe. I'd be wary about the latter because of legal problems if things don't work out. It's a crowded field though with tough competitors, like this piece of crap being scammed on people.

    • @boneseyyl1060
      @boneseyyl1060 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tungstenkid2271 Uhh it kind of goes without saying that making it smaller makes it lighter. All you would accomplish is making a heavy bigger tent into a smaller heavy tent. That's physics.
      You bought one of these? Easy for drunken stoners? Sure I guess that would be fun to watch. Freestanding on hard ground? This is like your physics argument. Any tent will freestand on hard ground or have you never been camping before? Excellent workmanship. Lol seriously? The video evidence of that being false is right here and in other vids. Yes it is a nice green color. Woohoo! As for rain, plenty of people say the opposite and it has a pouch on top that serves as a rain collector if you ever get low on water. And lets not forget the outstanding ventilation it doesn't have. It's the 3 sec tent for dummies and that is what you have to be to buy one.
      Well if you like this tent, I'm not so sure about those ideas of yours. But you might want to check if there are patents on any of your ideas. If not you might want to try making a mockup of your own design to see if it is practical. Then you might be able to sell other people on investing in it, if it has any merit. I wish you luck with that. Don't forget, there is lot's of tough competition out there, including this piece of crap that has the market for dummies, drunks and stoners locked up, I would say.

Quality is terrible. Like you said the wind picks up and snap. You cant depend on it.
