Voidweaver's theme is so cool I really wish they would make some changes so it's optimal to play Voidform with it it doesn't make sense to not take all the void talents >_

Are damage buffs alone enough? I'd like to see some re-works as well. Shadow Crash for example, such a long cooldown for a talent that is redudant if you're unlucky and it misses. Give us two charges on a 10s cd or something, anything to help with AOE outside of VE/Halo or DA/ER.
Enough to make it better? Yes Enough to make it feel like it’s well designed or play smoother? Not really. That we still need actual design changes for but those won’t come in a hotfix.

I find myself playing with VW instead of Archon, cause I cannot reach the same dps output of the former with the latter. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I find myself w/o Insanity most of the time when playing Archon, while VW is really fun and I can maintain it competitive in M+ (timed +8 only tho).
I feel like a good change they could make is that when you use all your mind blast charges, then use void torrent, you automatically get 2 charges for void blast. That would make it so much smoother imo.

I was playing around with Depth of Shadows, Deathspeaker and Y'Shaarj. I was hoping to get the 5% DMG Buff via Depth of Shadows proccs. Sadly it didn't work out. Do you think this is intended or a bug? It is kind of fun to get all those Mindbenders out and leting them cleave around, in execute phases you can get 3 Mindbenders at a time.
What is the easiest way you have found to keep track of your dots. Is there a way to keep track of each individual target and their dots without the looking for the debuff on nameplates? I feel like that’s where I struggle the most is not always sending shadow crash on cd on longer encounters
Devouring plague should still be active when void torrent finishes so you aren’t rushed to cast that free mind devourer proc right away. Instead we prio void blast in case you get a shadowy insight proc we don’t want to waste it
I’m so happy voidweaver is finally competitive with archon voidweaver spriest is my go to talent build and class as a whole still like archon in some cases I’m just happy there closer now in dps lol
Looking forward to trying voidweaver in at least our heroic clear this week on some bosses, the mobility is definitely a concern. The first two bosses seem like the best candidates for trying it out at least. Was thinking broodtwister but the boss makes a run for it when he goes for the cannisters and if you have a rift out its just not gonna catch up to him.
Something I must have missed is, if you play Unfurling Darkness in dungeons, do you DoT the same priority target twice to deal more damage to it or do you DoT 2 targets? Shadow Crash would DoT everything up anyway so what's the difference?
Typically in dungeons you will consume it as the pack is gathering and then can use it for prio damage or to DoT additional targets, either one is good
Tested it a few times on a training dummy and dark Ascension does not increase the unfurling darkness damage. Not sure why. It also is very important to actually use another global cooldown/cast inbetween your first two vamp touch in your opening (currently mindbender). If you don't the unfurling darkness proc wont benefit from Shadow Weaving.
I'm so confused man. You showed a build here for Voidweaver M+ but on Icy Veins it's different. Your opener is different on Icy veins and doesn't have Voidwraith or Mindspike in it. Any chance I could get a M+ voidweaver build link and a Raiding voidweaver single target link? I really appreciate the videos, I might just missing something.

I know making one long video might be easier for you, but for discoverability and for those who want one specific thing (VW+MPlus; VW+Raid; Arch+MPlus; etc), I think it would be better to probably make 4 videos focusing on each hero talents and each M+ and raid.

They've attempted to fix the VE problem but im not losing my halo buff xD. i enjoy Arcon, however i'm considering sitting my SP down till we get even'd out. Good question and one that we are actively changing. The guidance we are posting soon will not be suggesting Mind Spike by default. While it is theoretically best in pure single target it is within margin of error. Furthermore as soon as you go above 1 target or need to talent into shadow crash mind flay immediately becomes better. As such the guides will all suggest flay by default with the option to run spike on pure st if you really want as voidweaver only.
I played SPriest back in Legion and have just come back to the game.. I keep seeing people say they dont get invites, so im sceptical of levelling it. Are these buffs going to make them viable, or should I just level another class?
Shadow is viable even before these changes. Viability has nothing to do with not getting invites and more to do with the sheer number of people signing up for groups. If you list a key you get 50+ applicants a minute (not exaggerating) so the group leader can pick the highest item level and most S tier meta specs they want. Only way to fix that is to be an S tier meta spec (there are only 3-4 per season), list your own key, or run with your own group. Most specs in the game have this problem
Props to the devs for making Voidweaver playable without making it OP or FOTM. Unfurling darkness isn't my style and neither is DA but I'm happy they seemed to have nailed the balancing so people can play what they want and not feel like they're trolling.
I don't know if I'm the problem. (I might be tbh) But following the Opener perfectly, then doing my best to follow the rotation as best as I can. I hardly manage more than 600k DPS compared to Archon where I'd be at 650k-700k (597 ilvl). Wowhead quick sim says that I should be aroung 750k DPS. (This is on a Dummy too). Wonder if it's me or the spec that is just still weaker in general.

Idk. Sure voidweaver could do slighty more dmg. Maybe a few more % than archon, but archon does so much healing right now. Some people get up to 500k hps on fights and that will be hard to beat. I know shadow is a dps class, but nobody mentions how insane the healing you can do both in m+ and raid.
Definitely a fair thing to bring up, but for me at least most of that healing is to Pets/insignificant mobs so im not sure your details meter is telling the full story

I think they really missed the design of some hero talentes, voidweaver should have been designed around void eruption imo, i was hyped to play the spec, but when i saw the desgin leading the build elsewhere i got disapointed
the thing is archon still plays only with his cds in m+. its nice when you have every 2 mins a good aoe burst but between this times you lack hard. then you need to think before you use cds as example tirna m+ second boss. is the next gate the boss? should you use cds and blast this pack away? VW maybe doesnt got this big blast but tbh over 80% of the people doesnt have constant pulls with over 8 targets so in my opinion VW is overall with random grps and not a 11+ key main grp player above archon with the buffs
Is Unfurling Darkness affected by our mastery? Just wondering if having DP up would increase it's damage even more. Also, I just want to say thank you for all the work you (and the rest of the Shadow council) put in. Getting stuff updated for this amount of changes is a massive amount of work i imagine, so thank you!
Yes it is affected by our mastery so DP active would increase it. But as far as the opener goes it’s not worth delaying using it until we get DP active specifically
I just wish the duration of entropic rift was paused during void torrent. It just feels bad to be locked out of all your abilities that interact with it for the first 3 seconds. I would honestly prefer if they gave rift a 3 sec shorter duration and paused the time ticking down during the channel. It would make it objectively less powerful but it would feel better which also is really important for things like hero talents. Though it'd of course be even better if they made the timer pause during torrent and also didn't reduce the total active time, or reduced it by less than the torrent duration. Doubt it would push it over the edge being too good.
It effectively does that though. It’s not explained anywhere in game tooltips but the entropic rift is refreshed at the end of void torrents cast based on how long you channeled void torrent for. Can be difficult to track in game since the totem timer is deceptive but can assure you it’s actively happening

Though yea, explaining it in one of the tooltips would be nice, especially since it's almost more about "feel" than about the throughput for that one.
Personally, I think doing 4 videos, despite being more work, would be more helpful to me, b/c I get a lot of value out of the level of detail you go into. It helps as someone who tends to learn very slowly. If done in 2 videos, breaking it up by hero talent tree is probably the better way to do it imo vs doing a raid video and an M+ video, but doing it that way wouldn't bother me either. If you make content, I will consume said content regardless of what it looks like.
I hope VW keeps pulling through... I fucking despise Archon. Dealing with 5 (?) long CDs feels so bad to play. VW cleans up a lot of playstyle issues spriest has imo. Entropic rift looks badass, and void blast feels so good to press with the sound effects and the damage it does. Archon is boring af visually. Mindflay: Insanity feels great to use, that's about it. I hope we get a rework to shadow crash and make our shield not useless outside of move-speed, but in the meantime these VW buffs are solid enough... though idk why they still neglect speeding up the travel speed of the rift. Regardless, thanks for all the hard work you do for these videos.
@@briancates3576 it just seems to niche and flawed for me to really play it. For example voidblast sounds amazing when you press it, but it's really annoying when you are half way through a void blast cast and it runs out of time and reverts back to mind blast. Or the struggle of trying to get menu void blast cast out in general. It feels way too stiff to me.
I'm curious why Dark Assencion and Maddening Touch doesn't increase damage of Unfurling Darkness.. Even though all three DoTs(Vampiric Touch, SW:Pain, Devouring Plague) are considered as periodic effect, Dark Assencion also increases Initial Damage of SW:Pain and devouring Plague. So I bet Dark Assencion should ALSO increase initial damage of Vampiric Touch(which means Unfurling Darkness) And Also, Why Maddening Touch doesn't increase Unfurling Darkness if Inner Quietus increases damage of Unfurling Darkness?
It's honestly wild to me that the spec that has the big fuck-off aoe black hole of void is bad at aoe. Sure, halo is a way bigger aoe, but you'd still expect the void black hole to really shine on a clump of targets. I guess the actual burst aoe is coming from MFI casts through psychic link? That's how it feels playing archon, at least.
I wouldn’t say it’s bad at AoE it just has more downsides. Archon is consistently gonna hit everything while voidweaver is contingent on the rift being in the right spot to do damage

Pretty sure its intended, they fixed other things so it could benefit from it but not trigger it

The proc chance is low but yes it does work with Void Blast. Just tested and got one to proc from it on live servers

Imo it’s negligible because voidweaver’s void leech and embrace the shadow talents are equally strong defensively and in some aspects better

Yes 25 is the cap. As a blood elf you have a much smoother opener but we are swapping to flay where it should be simpler. Guides will be updated soon

Voidweaver baseline should give you the void torrent on the move talent.

classes getting buff feel the impact like ret and spriest. i main lock buti still play priest on a serious level but lock state is sad.
I was already getting better damage with voidweaver (lower dungeons), just icing on the cake for me.
Does this apply to disc as well or only shadow?

Pugging will typically be frustrating, would highly suggest listing your own key or finding a group to play with if possible!

We’re doing well to be honest. The biggest “problem” with spriest in raid is that it requires burst aoe and other classes beat us to it

the thing is archon still plays only with his cds in m+. its nice when you have every 2 mins a good aoe burst but between this times you lack hard. then you need to think before you use cds as example tirna m+ second boss. is the next gate the boss? should you use cds and blast this pack away? VW maybe doesnt got this big blast but tbh over 80% of the people doesnt have constant pulls with over 8 targets so in my opinion VW is overall with random grps and not a 11+ key main grp player above archon with the buffs
I think I generally agree but realistically can make either work at all levels imo
Is Unfurling Darkness affected by our mastery? Just wondering if having DP up would increase it's damage even more.

Yes it is affected by our mastery so DP active would increase it. But as far as the opener goes it’s not worth delaying using it until we get DP active specifically
I just wish the duration of entropic rift was paused during void torrent. It just feels bad to be locked out of all your abilities that interact with it for the first 3 seconds. I would honestly prefer if they gave rift a 3 sec shorter duration and paused the time ticking down during the channel. It would make it objectively less powerful but it would feel better which also is really important for things like hero talents.
Though it'd of course be even better if they made the timer pause during torrent and also didn't reduce the total active time, or reduced it by less than the torrent duration. Doubt it would push it over the edge being too good.
It effectively does that though. It’s not explained anywhere in game tooltips but the entropic rift is refreshed at the end of void torrents cast based on how long you channeled void torrent for.
Can be difficult to track in game since the totem timer is deceptive but can assure you it’s actively happening

Though yea, explaining it in one of the tooltips would be nice, especially since it's almost more about "feel" than about the throughput for that one.
Personally, I think doing 4 videos, despite being more work, would be more helpful to me, b/c I get a lot of value out of the level of detail you go into. It helps as someone who tends to learn very slowly.
If done in 2 videos, breaking it up by hero talent tree is probably the better way to do it imo vs doing a raid video and an M+ video, but doing it that way wouldn't bother me either. If you make content, I will consume said content regardless of what it looks like.

I hope VW keeps pulling through... I fucking despise Archon. Dealing with 5 (?) long CDs feels so bad to play. VW cleans up a lot of playstyle issues spriest has imo. Entropic rift looks badass, and void blast feels so good to press with the sound effects and the damage it does. Archon is boring af visually. Mindflay: Insanity feels great to use, that's about it.
I hope we get a rework to shadow crash and make our shield not useless outside of move-speed, but in the meantime these VW buffs are solid enough... though idk why they still neglect speeding up the travel speed of the rift. Regardless, thanks for all the hard work you do for these videos.
Voidweaver seems the most walmart clunk in a while. Nice looks, but no engineer was used in the design.
I was so excited about VWer in beta, but is the biggest disappointment for me this expansion :/.
Why? VW is so much more fun than Archon
@@briancates3576 it just seems to niche and flawed for me to really play it. For example voidblast sounds amazing when you press it, but it's really annoying when you are half way through a void blast cast and it runs out of time and reverts back to mind blast. Or the struggle of trying to get menu void blast cast out in general. It feels way too stiff to me.
I'm curious why Dark Assencion and Maddening Touch doesn't increase damage of Unfurling Darkness..
Even though all three DoTs(Vampiric Touch, SW:Pain, Devouring Plague) are considered as periodic effect, Dark Assencion also increases Initial Damage of SW:Pain and devouring Plague. So I bet Dark Assencion should ALSO increase initial damage of Vampiric Touch(which means Unfurling Darkness)
And Also, Why Maddening Touch doesn't increase Unfurling Darkness if Inner Quietus increases damage of Unfurling Darkness?

It's honestly wild to me that the spec that has the big fuck-off aoe black hole of void is bad at aoe.
Sure, halo is a way bigger aoe, but you'd still expect the void black hole to really shine on a clump of targets.
I guess the actual burst aoe is coming from MFI casts through psychic link? That's how it feels playing archon, at least.
I wouldn’t say it’s bad at AoE it just has more downsides. Archon is consistently gonna hit everything while voidweaver is contingent on the rift being in the right spot to do damage
