Lav you are going to burn that new solenoid up. The pull side of that coil can’t be energized all the time or the coil will overheat and burn up. The pull side is energized during crank and the hold side of the coil is key hot. Pull is momentary and hold is continuous duty on that solenoid. Thanks for the videos Steve.
When i was a kid we had one of these and i can now say i never knew that this was supposed to happen automatically lol. We always just pulled it out manually, Had the tractor die on me going up a hill one time and lets just say it was a fun ride to the bottom lol.
On those solenoids, The black is ground, the white is the pull and the red is the hold. If you supply continuous power to the white you may end up burning the solenoid out. The typical appliction has the white connected to the 'M' (motor) terminal of the starter. (On the starter solenoid this terminal is the one that spins the motor of the starter, (not the battery terminal).) When the key is on power goes to the red wire. Then when the starter motor turns your engine the white wire pulls the shutoff solenoid into position for the engine to run. Continued power to the red keeps the engine running. To put into basics: The white wire creates a strong magnet in the solenoid so it will pull in. Then the red makes a weak magnet that holds the plunger in.
WFM is arguably the best John Deere forum on the internet today. I lived on there when I was rebuilding my 140's years ago and got some excellent advice from the members. Still have a 1969 H3 140 and do some mowing with it. We have bigger tractors now - but I just can't part with this one.
I seem to remember those solenoids having two coils. One gives it the initial jolt to extend the shaft, the other holds the shaft open unless a safety switch opens or the key shuts off.
I think you mentioned at some point you might replace the wiring harness. That will bring to light anything the previous owner may have monkeyed with (jumping safeties etc). Anyway, looks likes tons of fun. It’s nice you have multiples too so you can compare and see how things assemble etc.. Enjoy, the snow is around the corner. (Tim from Albany NY).
I had a 420 and under the dash there's a box and inside that box there was some kind of thing I had to jump over to make the deck work and I don't remember what it was it's been a long time but I like your videos and they're very very informative I got a diesel now and I'm learning how to do anything if it's goes wrong thank you
I'm keeping battery in my Ford 1910. With a Whim and a prayer that it will keep working (snow remove bucket). I used to used the battery blankets from Mills fleet, it's just too hard to take out/put back in. I'm an old man now. haha n mn pretty cool!
Like all your videos. Hope work truck gets fixed well. I have two requests. One is a video of servicing shop heat. 2nd is coffee (or brew) chats of current things in the industry. Thx again for content.
Steve I and many others are really liking these new vids. I knew you had some classic cars, I hope you keep up the mix and dont forget the cooking. Lol
I have a Cub Cadet LT series lawn tractor and this valve went open while mowing and the mower just shut off like it ran out of gas. I ended up bypassing it and the mower runs great but the exhaust sometimes pops when you shut it off after mowing. I rev it down and let it idle for a few seconds or so and then shut it off.
Take the measurements of the heater core. The auto parts store should have a 4 seasons or a Modine book with the dimensions of cores they make. That is if you don't find a oem one.
Crazy normally a solenoid doesn’t end up with a messed up coil. It musta got douched too much to corrode🤷♂️. Usually the plunger and anti-stiction goes fubar. Careful where ya spray that industrial degreaser on the new one Steve-oh😉😎👍🏻
Great videos! Can you offer any advice about removing and installing a 430 garden tractor injector pump? I have a blown out freeze plug to replace. Thanks
Even throttle solenoids don’t go bad in Olde Dodge Ram Cummins...at least in 5.9 12v. Even tho it’s the only electric part in the all mechanical fuel injection system except glow plugs. 😎
We have always had Ford Diesel Tractors. We did have a gas burning Ford Ferguson Tractor. It was a 9N model, but Gasoline is so crummy now and it was really made for leaded gasoline like they used to make.
Awesome Mr.Ste. Like those John Deer 🦌🦌 tractors God bless you brother learning alot God's Family Country USA 🇺🇲🇺🇲 Happy Holidays Rio grande valley Texas USA 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🙏👍..
I prefer the 4x5 series tractors. The foot control hydro is better. Leaves both hands free to operate controls and steer at the same time, plus you get the diff lock.
Great video Steven! I had a few employees this week at the hospital ask me for a good natural gas furnace and boiler technician. I gave them your business number. Looking forward to the videos. LOL!
Steve will the belt drive I thinks it’s a 47 blower on my 318 fit one of these 430? I like the size difference in the 420. The 47 blower I have is almost to much for my 322/Or my 318 tractor.. Keep up the tinkering around videos!
no the 420 and 430 run a drive shaft .not a pully 318 / 322 /332/ run a belt .. and the top mount is wider by 2 inches .. same blower just different mounting hardwear . and i thing the gear box is in different position ..
I’m loving the tractor series!!
Glad to hear it!

Keep it up!

Love the sound of a diesel tractor.
Your 430 runs sweet!👍🇺🇸

Looks exactly like the heater core out of my 89 Ford ranger.
tractor series is pretty cool
Great job Steve.
I used to make heater cores for vehicles at a local factory.
Good videos Steve nice change of pace next level mama
I have a 430 garden tractor and it will turn over but will not start any suggestions?
Great videos!
Can you offer any advice about removing and installing a 430 garden tractor injector pump? I have a blown out freeze plug to replace.
Thanks
Should be able to find some small little heater core and retrofit it.
I’m loving it too ❤
Glad ya found one with all the supply chain BS👍🏻💪😎
Stay warm my friend

I put a empty cup 🥤 over the fuel ⛽️ cap on mine also 👍
He sold you a after market part. Many available on amazon for $35
The aftermarket ones don’t usually last long. I put one of the fleabay specials on the Kubota in my aunt’s Grasshopper. It didn’t last a year.
Nothing runs to the repair shop like a Deere!
Afternoon Steve.
Great video Steven! I had a few employees this week at the hospital ask me for a good natural gas furnace and boiler technician. I gave them your business number. Looking forward to the videos. LOL!
my truck is still in show i just got a rebuilt turbo in from arizona .only one i could find in country lol
that was, in fact, what I was going to say. you got a bad solenoid. j/k lol fun video series wrenching..
It always puzzles me how previous owners make a mess out of wires. I'm working on an JD AMT600 with hacked wire harness 🙄 l think l figured it out.
