I'm a fan of analog paths for a fine turntable/cartridge. Fully analog. And tubes are really good. My fav right now is a Philips 312/ADC XLM combo into an analog AX7 tube preamp into SET 2A3 tube amp into Klipsch Heresys. I look forward to listening to lps on this modest cost system. And impressively it makes common records sound great.

Unlike most modern audiophiles I love my Koetsu Rosewood regular version Bliss in my first edition VPI Scout. New fancy carts focus too much on detail for me I like a full-sounding musical presentation that I can listen to for hours without getting a headache. I tried many carts but their is something about Koetsu that speaks to me a old school sound that I am addicted to.

Its funny, I'm running this table with the exact same cartridge as you (Dyn 20x2). For me the big thing I noticed when I got this table was clarity, especially in the midrange. Everything sounded so open and uncluttered. I also liked that it was quick and rhythmic like the rega designs, but with much more pitch and image stability and balance. I also feel like this tonearm could take a very high end cartridge, I hope I get to try it with something like an XX-2 or an Allnic Rose someday.

I bought the Harmony from Gene Rubin about one month ago. Gene was great! Your comparison to Rega sounds spot on. The Harmony has the PRAT but is rock solid and dead quiet. You mentioned having the Dyn 20x2. I had that on my last table, a Clearaudio Solution. I have the xx2 on the Harmony. first impression is that it sounds like the 20x2 but is more refined. I'm not sure how much of that is the cartridge and how much is the table, but I think you'd like the xx2. Anyway, enjoy!
As for Ron, i like how he emphasized the importance of associated equipment. That is often understated.

Holidays Ron 🎄, I enjoyed your review. Question, you listed all the substantiating components except for speakers, I believe, that led to your final thoughts. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Or are you suggesting that regardless of the speaker setup, the harmony will not disappoint 🤔. Please advise, thanks.

Ah man noooo!! Sorry for dealing with that. I was debating that mofi ultra or a rega...either a 6 or 8... but i need to hear first because some people say yhe regas are a little thin due to their high rigidity and lowest weight design...hence my consideration of the ultra...but my top demo table will be a vpi prime...so who knows what i end up with lol

Nice video with audio of both turntables woodsound switching back and forth between the two so you can hear what he is talking about. I have had my Technics sl 1200 MK5 since 2016 and have put at least 40 hours per week on it with zero problems! I use ortofon 2m black mounted in sumiko headshell and run it through a project tube box s phono preamp. I also have a Audio-Technica AT440 MLB cartridge that sounds superb. Enjoy the journey and beware of snake oil salesman. Especially when it comes to cables and interconnects. The most expensive ones will make only very minor audible changes unless you had extremely horrible cable or interconnects to begin with. I keep coming back to this review and really like the simple, "buy these options and be done" approach. This table seems such an appealing option.

I had Acoustic Signature tonearm the TA 5000. Sound was really good but I now have the Origin Live Agile. May seem petty to some but the counterweight on the A.S. Arms are locked in place with a grub screw that bears down onto the threaded stub. That is awful engineering and I am surprised that A.S. could not come up with something different when they are so capable of manufacturing such superb decks. I was an Aircraft Fitter on the bench and that would just not be acceptable in any circumstance. What I did was to put a short piece of match stalk down the grub screw hole to protect the thread, but then it doesn't grip quite tight enough. After a few years you will finish up with dimples and burrs on the threaded stub. They can do better and its the same on their very expensive arms.

I'm guessing were in the "end game" selection of TT's, as it's a thing i'm thinking about these days. Though i'm into low mass TT' s like Rega, some of the more sophisticated high mass turntable looks quite astonishing, as the one above your raven about here. One can tell that this is a serious table, in choosing materials like the Delrin platter, the one machined piece making the plint and so forth. I'm 51 and have been an Audiophile for many many decades, and i'm about to settle down with some of my eq. I have my end game amps: Lavardin: C62/MAP (pre/mono), but has been thinking of which turntable would be the end goal for me? I own the beautiful Rega P8/Apheta II combo, which is by far the best turntable iv'e ever owned, and i owned a few. Well guys...this may come as a chock to you, but i'm a very loyal Rega fan, and has been for decades, so a while back i decided to stick with the brand i love, so i'm guessing my end-game tt, is gonna be the P10/Aphellion II, with a killer phono stage, like the Aura. But for now, i'm spinning like crazy every day, and cannot get enough of that little piece of art, that the P8 is. In fact, it is a baby Naid (look that up) ;-) Cheers from Denmark

Hello there stumbled across this vid I enjoyed it. Going from a BSR ceramic cart to the better TT's I have to say I wish we could of seen more of the TT not an unboxing but as it is put together and as it is running the TT looked great from what little I saw of it being a person who would if given a choice of two rooms 1 with a great turntable or a room full of pretty girls I would choose the TT ,that being said if an explanation of how it was made would of been great I like to know how. TT is made and why and I GREAT LY agree with the tube amplifier the sound is way better than a reg amp. But I also noticed that nobody talks about equalizers in my day they helped Taylor and can compliment the music being heard a lot of record comp equalize there music differently than the next with just bass & treble setting I believe it is not enough to Taylor the music your way for example when hearing singers on an album I noticed when you do not equalize you can hear vocal ok but when I switch it to equalizer I can hear the vocals much clearer and still hear everything from drums to bells and you sometimes hear a certain part of song or music that you can barely hear without it I mean I see a lot of theses vids with people showing there great sound system but equalizer is missing its a shame I grew up in the time when audiophiling (just made up word) was in its heyday everybody who was an audiophile had these two components, amp and equalizer, I believe it will compliment and enhance the music who knows I could be REALLY OLD !!school but I am fussy about my music and I know having a fantastic TT a great cartridge ,amp &speakers are important but adding equalizer does make it sound better I been trying to find someone who can tell me if I am wrong somewhere out there anywhere!!! sorry for this long drawn out rant you look like somebody who understands about records so thanks and this was a good vid JRo📀

You don’t mention any time to break in the cartridge unless it came to you as a demo. I recently replaced two cartridges in my set up, after 10 hours they started to sound smoother and continue to improve as I near
the 60 hour mark. Some say a 100 hours to fully break in. Not sure how you reviewers deal with these issues.
Final note, been at this game for over 40 years, the best way to isolate your table from floor vibration, mount it
to the wall with a rack designed for the job, a real game changer. 😎

If you haven’t experienced the Merrill Williams Real 104 turntable, you still haven’t heard the best your vinyl can be heard. Try that one, then you’re talking end game! Not an opinion, it’s a fact! Opinions vary of course. Not all a ready for big league analog ball either!

Canadians make great stuff like the Brits no surprise as Canada was a British country from its inception that has only changed recently due to the open borders policy its socialist government has pushed on its people beginning in the late 80s. But my point is Canada makes good quality gear most of the manufacturers there are top-notch. I purchased a preamp from a small company called CVD Classic Valve Design called a Borealis 300 which is a preamp designed around 300 B tubes with tube rectification and tube regulation plain looking box but top shelf parts inside this little preamp bested units costing twice as much. I tried to sell it and no one gave me a offer because it looks industrial not one offer on CAM lol. It worked out for me because the preamp i replaced it with costs a lot more and did not sound better it was not as good as what i had. I sold that for what I paid or a little more in a day after listing it . That is the problem if you have a great piece of gear that is from a small company no one will buy it but if you have a mediocre piece of gear from a big name it will sell fast lol

The proof can be quantified in B&Ks finest measurement devices PERIOD. The bullcrap of belt drive is just that, and physics shows that most are poorly built, have a much higher wow and flutter as well as rumble. The oscilloscope does not lie either. Direct drive sites vertically on the base and does not pull against the sleeve bearing. The records you listen to were almost all done on a Digital Equipment Neuman Cutter and Technics SP-02 48 pole, extremely high torque, turntable that is monitored thousands of times per revolution and a platter that is massive, balance in 3 dimensions with a flywheel affect that is the finest piece of engineering ever made PERIOD. Blade Runner, in Red special half speed master as well as the original was done on this system. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Neumann_VMS-70_Cutting_Lathe.png. The VMS was a 32 Bit Virtual Storage Computer with significant capabilities that were not met except for super computers in the middle to late 80s.
The SP-10 mk2, mk3 and those with BORON TONE ARMS AND TITATIUM NITRIDE WANDS are the finest to have ever been made and cannot be created today because of cost. We are talking about 100% Boron in a TONE ARM, not just a cantilever. Other Exotics are the Kenwood L-0 series. These tables from Denon as well had a rumble figure of -90+ -70+ and a wow and flutter weighted or unweighted at less that .02% and the surface is dead quiet. I had the Technics with an SME type II, type III tone arm and EPA-250 series with ruby bearings and adjustments on these tables make Graham look like grade school as these are like fine micrometers when working with them.
Only the stupid audiophile who lifted the platter and the motor went hunting for the correct speed are so damn stupid to assume it cogs all the time when nothing is farther from the truth as micro amp and less were used to correct speed on the home versions using a servo feed back hundreds of times per rotation. All adjustments were perfection for their tone arms which could match any cartridge and since no record is perfectly round and flat, the audiophile idiots put in heavy arms and low compliance cartridges tracking at 2g + which is, per sq. in. practically putting a cutter onto your record and slicing both vertically and horizontally. At least Clearaudio was intelligent enough to try to re-create the Souther Quartz rod tangital tone arm, also an exception creation of a super hard, perfectly straight piece that makes the current glass a joke.

@Marten Dekker The bruel & kjaer output tape and oscilloscope does not lie. Nothing came close to the Direct Drives of the late 70s through the SL-1200 5 and the Linn was not even close. BTW - the 1200-5 has the same damping as the new units but marketing says nothing. With the Canada Music Mat the numbers are even more in the favor of the DD, weighted and unweighted. BUlL SHIT IS BULL SHIT and this is quantitively visible and no magic word can save your opinion. When the engineers were replace by magic, bull shit reigns in the audiophile realm. Crossovers are even more of a joke of high end audio. GR-Research is fun to watch to see just how badly the rich are getting screwed with inferior parts. As Brian Cheney stated of Wilson Audio, it's crap. I've heard all of Wilson Audio's speakers and they are awful when I lived in Scottsdale AZ and I used to take my friends around the world for a listen. You listen to records that were cut on a Technics or other Direct Drive probably and the do the work know damn well that what you talk of is garbage. It was expensive for the machining of some of the finest equipment during the days of Sound Engineering with those with ears to listen. Hi Fi fell of the ledge in the late 1980s and died. Every form of component is now either idiotically over priced and going higher, or it goes through so many changes in formatting and digital which is a lost cause as the entire system must work as a unit I.e. EMM or dcs, the rest is crap. Amplifier technology is a farce as the very finest of transistors are not even manufactured anymore - ask Nelson Pass about V-FETs and J-FETs. Professional Audio has caught the audiophile segment and is now surpassing it by leaps and bounds. Analog has lost any concept of physics and has come out with quackery, not science. VPI measures as well as the old idler drive. The only good table I know of is SOTA, a GREAT table and ingenious vacuum system that makes the vinyl vibration on the soft platter absolutely non-existent.

Note: the Fritz Geiger stylus is the greatest ever made. Garrot still make them although Garrot Bros in Australia had a tragic ending. Their Moving Magnet 3 leaders which are all less than $1750 down to under 800 are the best tracking cartridges and best sounding in every review they have had. The top is now with Ruby cantilever. The Shure V-15 type V MR was the best tracking cartridge ever and outstanding sound and lightest TUBULAR BORON moving system ever made. It was a bargain but some people just can't understand that at it's price, it was not supposed to be as good as it was, technically far beyond anything even today and try to find the stiffest cantilever than this one www.hifi-classic.net/review/shure-v15-type-v-282.html
