I'm using one that works great called veaux chêne. It's a powder used to tone wood but if you get it in powder you can mix with water and tone paper. It gives a brown redish tone. I think my teacher said you can mix red watercolor with it to make it redder
The watercolor paper is good as it has the ability to let the ink/water sink into the paper. You can also try it with other paper or even thinner paper, which will also work, but the result might not be as good as with the thicker watercolor paper.
Try brushing paper with clear water first. This permits the pigment to flow more easily. Works well for me.
Awesome!!! Just what I've been looking for, thank you very much
Beautiful! I think I’ll try it and leave the first dark brush strokes.

Thanks you. Very helpful.
Hi, without having to purchase several inks to test out, do you know which pigment would be good for a reddish tone?

Hi, of I want to use different multi colour shades of colours for preparing the base, what would be the process?
Can I use just watercolor to tone a paper?
yes
@@Aficionados9 but in that case watercolor layer may come out if I use eraser, right?
@@artisty6847 Thats true if you erase very hard. But you can also use that to your advantage if you want to make a really white highlight.
@@artisty6847 correct. Just make sure you do a couple coats and if you want you can cover it with paint sealing spray
Any black ink will do?
Best works indian or chinese black ink.
Can you show us how to shellac paper?
Very2x nice
Can we use Black water colour instead of ink
yes you can
@@Aficionados9 ok thank you
Can this be done with other kind of paper, or does it work exclusively with watercolor paper?

What type of brush is that?
Just a normal wide brush - nothing fancy
