Just as a little added info, you needn’t tape down necessarily as you can equalize the paper by wetting the back side first then flip up to work the “right” side. Using 300lb isn’t necessary with this, though I’d caution against copy paper as the delicacy while wet would be problematic in flipping.

What do you recommend after we finish toning the paper with the backside wet method - should I remove the paper from the board or let it sit over the board for the next 24 hours? I'd really appreciate your reply. 😀

@@indiaaj12345 in my case I will generally allow it to dry as lain. I live in California so humidity is pretty middle of the road so this works fine. For other places, if any buckling occurs as it’s drying out then laying a dry towel over it gently can help by acting as gentle weight, if it’s still even with that, laying a medium weight book or something flat on top of the towel is the answer.

@@PucKitt Thanks a lot. I really really appreciate it. I've just toned my first ever papers. I'll lay over the towels as you say. 😃

Can you use a white charcoal or white pastel over this quite easily for adding "whites" in the drawings?

What brand of brush is used for the walnut ink toned paper? Is that a Raphael brush? I would like to know before I buy a brush. Thank you. Great tutorial!

You need a gummed craft paper tape. These are water activated.

Aficionados9 yes, but as I understand you can’t remove it from the paper after, you need to cut out drawing/painting. But how to keep white border? In many artists who do water color paintings, I have seen they still have nice white border around their work. Even have seen some videos where they are warming I water color but it’s kind of white tape. Just curios

@@victoriatataryn1542 Hi Victoria. What I could do is stretch the paper first by wetting it in water and then put gum tape on the edges. Then when the paper is stretched and dry I would further put masking tape around the edges i want to leave white. Here's a video you can watch: th-cam.com/video/2oPYketvgwI/w-d-xo.html
