wow wow, absolutely great....the original track Koth Biro as sund by Ayub Ogada is a traditional Luo folk song that used to be sung in our villages here in Kenya, of the Luo tribe ( Obama's Kenyan tribe)....am really blown away , i think its the first ever Luo song to be done on Violin!!!!!! really humbling, will share with my family and friends here in Kenya.Btw Koth Biro means Rain is coming.....so the kids are being urged and pushed to drive the Cows home, cause rain is coming.

    An enchanted African dream...
This song has such stillness but equally a paradox of movement. Regina masterfully transports you to a place filled with joy. I envision a sunrise and men canoing down stream along the river banks of the Delta. Children laughing and running uphill through the tall grasslands as a flock of geese startled flies off into the distant sky; a code that they're nearing home and a reassurance to the regal women who await their return.

At the beginning I am remindly kindly of how such feelings of despair may be lifted upon my back with some music in my ears that goes in a circle from my cognitive ways of the mind which is sheer complexity to how I do know with a certainly how my heart feels and with these two combined, it is so beautiful to hear Regina Carter as if she is here with me and my loved ones sharing so we all may not have any ill will about us. It is not a dream in life to wish or contemplate about ways of life or matters of interest that in fact mold our personalities because I feel those things we love most are part and a significant part of our personality. Thank you Regina Carter, always ... may Long Days and Pleasant Evenings be a part of me when I say these words to another while thinking of this song going through my mind as well as one of the first songs at the tiny desk concert [NPR] when the 'friendship' song just took me away and I was gone for a few moments but years could have passed. That is what music is for me because I am but a mortal while what you do for yourself alone will be buried with you but again, what I do for others will be immortal and perhaps live on with others, please.

How on God's green earth could any person say there could be something inappropriate about this song. I don't get it, do you? Why would one ever want to think something this beautiful could be inappropriate. It is not haunting by any stretch of that defined word as was used by some person who called it that and it was a way to go to bed for him. For me, it is a way to to feel goodness when my body is hurting with severity. You just cannot care whether people believe you or not and that it the key that was part of my address to over 500 men, only men because it was a fraternal association of philanthropic men who give to help those who are in distress and do so in such a way that my father and I are both Freemasons and that is simply something I will not discuss as those who have a curiosity much seek it out on their own. But my father encouraged me not by anything he said, but by this one ring he wore for over 50 years or somewhere around that length of time. It was his wedding band and also signified something else. That something else since childhood is what I had to know and am so happy that once that time came and I knew with the help of such kind and compassionate, intelligent others, it mattered most to me on this planet.

    • @KevinMichaelCallihan

This lady came to me last year as I did not know who she was. In fact, for many years she had been an acclaimed renowned violinist that was very special, indeed. She was given credit by many, many people in the spirit of Jazz for reviving something that many people of stature had felt for some time had been falling in this nation's standards of excellence. I disagree although I do admit that my grace and blessing of not knowing of Regina Carter's music and the feeling she gave to me not only helped me feel so very good but diverted things that one must simply accept and and always have the wisdom to know that differenes do in fact exist in knowing when you personally are able to change things or it is a matter of life that you cannot change it. But what I feel is that hope is a good thing, a very good thing, and the fact that her music always gives me hope is that there is not reason to go to that other very well known saying that has helped many people who could not help themselves by knowing the difference of accepting those things which you could change as opposed to have the wisdom of knowledge to know those things that cannot be changed. It is not a bad thing in life. We or most of us who choose not to have fear yet to always know adversit which I define as danger, and knowing that fact of danger is something that I may and will always avoid as life is so precious that I simply want to keep as much of it going on as possible for my loved ones, my children; first and foremost, then to me but after the children to their mother who beget all innocent children and in my case and scenario of life, I simply put my loved ones first although feelings do change and status does change, my children do not and they will remain my children regardless of what papers may say or how they may feel in the future. There are simply those things that are called tough love and I fully understand it and have for some time. May you always have the very best of health within you and the same within your loved ones, always ... Kevin.

I find it quite painful that the original artist of this song isn`t credited. It ought to be said that this song is by Ayub Ogada and that this is a cover of the same. Otherwise these details here insinuate that all this is the work of any other than Ayub Ogada.
Musicians please learn to give credit where it is due.
While the musicianship here is amazing and kudos for this arrangement it goes without saying that all this is practically senseless without the original piece by Ayub Ogada.

For me not anything as good as the original. The bass harmonies being dull and ploddingly overplayed and adding a kora doesnt create anything extra.
