    DESCRIPTION
    Welcome to HowFixit! In this video, I'll take you through a step-by-step guide on how to disassemble Razer Blade 15 2018 Advanced model RZ09-02385 laptop, clean its fans, and replace the thermal paste. Our comprehensive tutorial will equip you with the knowledge of fixing laptop overheating issues. From disassembling your laptop to cleaning the fan and heatsink from dust and applying thermal paste, we've got you covered. Say goodbye to overheating and hello to improved performance!
    * Laptop Disassembly Guide:
    Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
    * Fan Cleaning Techniques:
    Dust and debris can accumulate in your laptop's fans and heatsink over time, leading to reduced airflow and increased temperatures. I'll show you effective methods to clean your laptop using an antistatic brush and proper handling techniques. By keeping your cooling system clean, you'll prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your laptop.
    * Thermal Paste Replacement:
    Thermal paste plays a crucial role in transferring heat from the laptop's CPU and GPU to the heatsink. However, over time, a thermal paste can dry out and lose its effectiveness. I'll guide you through the process of removing the old thermal paste and applying a fresh, high-quality one. This step is vital for optimal heat dissipation and temperature management. Don't let an overheating laptop slow you down! Watch this comprehensive guide and take control of your laptop's temperature. By performing regular fan cleaning and thermal paste replacement, you'll ensure smooth operation, prevent hardware damage, and extend the life of your laptop. I bought a used razer blade 15 2018 a year back and I finally replaced the thermal paste in great confidence thanks to your video.
    The old paste was so hard that it just crumbled off the CPU and GPU.
    Replaced it, put everything back together and now I'll see how she goes :)
    Great tutorial, thank you very much 👌🏻
    PS: Also took the chance to clean it from old the old dust

I have thermal paste coming in today so im hoping i can get it to run even better with the new paste. (also i run on a cooling pad that i also just got. works great (maunualy turn the razer fans to max, turn the cooling pad on max) run the intel extreme tuning bench mark (2.0) then power down clean it and try it again should be better. the new thermal will also help too. but i can let you know more about that by friday

    WRONG way to apply thermal paste, buy some acrylic sheets and cut one to the size of the gpu/cpu, depending on the cpu gpu chip size you may need to lay down a 'worm' or an 'x' pattern from the thermal paste tube. Then place the acrylic sheet over the cpu and push down on it, the acrylic sheet is transparent and will give you and indication of how little or too much paste you are using to cover the chips completely. Using a tool to spread the paste can lead to micro air bubbles being present in the paste when you lay the heatsick/vapor chamber over the top causing hot-spots on the cpu/gpu and thus leading to a shorter life and higher temps AKA thermal throttling in games. The paste comes vacum packed in the tub, if you appy it correctly to a surface and then mate the heatsink to it there is no need for 'spreading' paste and it reduces error.

    • @andyfitz1992
      @andyfitz1992 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Edit: you want to start with as little paste as possible as most thermal solutions dictate that the amount of paste between the cpu/gpu and heatsink should be around 1 micron thick, you should be firmly (but not too firm) placing the acrylic sheet over the area to ensure that the 'bead' of paste is not going over the edges as this is wasted and gives no benefit to thermal transfer.

    • @andyfitz1992
      @andyfitz1992 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      OR you can just use the heatsink/vapor chamber to apply it, secure it down with the screws to get an accurate indication of pressure applied to the mating surfaces and remove it, if it looks good just wipe away and start again fresh ensuring you take a picture of each application of paste to match the last one, the last hopfully being the most successful attempt. This is how you avoid putting your laptop in a worse state than when you came to it.

      Having applied hundred of tubes of thermal paste in my time, I can tell you that your overthinking it way too much. Spreading is fine, it genuinely will not cause an issue and is less risky when applying directly to silicon. also there is zero reason to worry about applying a bit too much thermal paste, as long as it's not conductive to electricity
