No idea if you’ve read these or not (you probably have), but here are some more obscure suggestions from famous writers: - A Complete Lowlife by Ed Brubaker - American Carnage by Bryan Edward Hill - Deadenders by Ed Brubaker (Brubaker’s my favorite writer if you can’t tell) - Shockrockets by Kurt Busiek - The Waiting Place by Sean McKeever - Young Liars by David Lapham
I always try and grab at least one of these books that you show off in these videos. Some are pretty hard to get but what I have gotten I’ve not been disappointed yet. More of these please 👌🏻🔥
Thanks for your magic Omar you are the best ! Added A Beautiful Death for sure as soon as you said “French translation” I’m all in as the French have some of the greatest titles and artists in comics history- 1) Moebius 2) The Incal 3) Snowpiercer and 4) Snowpiercer film with Ed Harris one of the best sci -fi films ever made !
I want to suggest some comics that where really nice and I liked some hidden gems that u should definitely check out. (Elric saga) Elric the ruby throne Elric stormbringer Elric the White wolf. Carbon gray Death vigil Middle west Dead body road The legend of the scarlet blades Annihilator Supreme blue rose Silver surfer requiem Hope u like them!
Love seeing the return of this series! Here are some Under The Radar Recs! Clean Room: Gail Simone, Jon Davis-Hunt (Vertigo) I love Gail Simone, and I think this is my favorite series by here. Great body-horror series that's basically "what if the Scientologists weren't crazy but we're instead saving us?" I will continue to yell on the internet about this series until everyone has read it. The Kaiju Score: James Patrick, Rem Broo (Aftershock) Really great pure caper comic. It's a great story about a heist set during a kaiju fight. The trade just came out, highly suggest picking it up. Wasteland: Anthony Johnson, Christopher Mitten (Oni) A great post-apocalyptic series featuring wonderful black and white art on a great mystic western series. 60 issues, collected in 2 SC compendiums or your 3 Hardcovers that YOU STILL NEED TO READ.
An underrated under talked about book is Hard Boiled by Frank Miller and Geof Darrow published by Dark Horse comics. Recently I noted that Frank Miller has been said to have lost his edge so I want to point people towards a lesser know gem of his. It was published between 1990-1992 and a trade paperback came out 1993 but has been out of print until they recently released a new Hardcover version in 2017. It is a relatively short 3 issue story collected in it's entirety. It takes place in L.A. in a futuristic Dystopian future where the protagonist named Carl Seltz might be more than just an insurance investigator. It is worth reading just to see Darrow's stunning artwork but Frank Miller puts his foot on the throttle and never stops. It is a fun read with Total Recall vibes that reminds me of the best of Philip K. Dick. If you haven't already read it, it is well worth your time to hunt it down and check it out.
These are amazing! I'm definitely checking out "Chrononauts", "Welcome Back", and "The Beautiful Death"! One other hidden gem I love that rarely anyone talks about is the "Archie" reboot series from Mark Waid, Fiona Staples (!), Veronica Fish, and more! There are two Varsity Editions (OHCs) released and supposed to be a third one. It's a great all-ages series that modernizes the Archie story without being overly dramatic like "Riverdale"!
I'm really glad I watched this segment. Never heard of Swords of the Swashbucklers but I love Mantlo & Guice. Nice to have a new (to me anyway) book from them considering the tragedy surrounding Mantlo. Thanks, Omar!
Chrononauts got a second volume a little while ago. called Chrononauts:Futureshock. I was under the impression that Millar was planning two back to back Chrononauts minis but the second mini must not have happened. I'm still trying to push you to read Ghost Money:Death in Dubai. The author Theirry Smolderen was also the writer of Gypsy which was a really popular Omnibus when it was released.
“I know that sounds blasphemous to a lot of people.” All 2000 AD fans of a certain age who remember what Millar did back then respond: “Nope. That’s fine by us.”
Is there any chance that you will do a little mini review of the first Heroes Union issue in the near future Omar? It's new, and both Sal Buscema and Roger Stern has worked on that book
I got the hardcover from Kickstarter. I haven’t read it yet, so it’s good to hear a positive review. I know it is set in Duncan Jones’ sci-if world and I love the film Moon, but I had issues with Mute.
So weird to see Sword of the Swashbucklers on there. I have a mint signed issue that I bought in a random bundle of bagged comics from a "car boot sale" in Yorkshire. I always hated the artwork for some reason because it reminded me of Geena Davis in Cutthroat Island.
I’ll have to check out Chrononauts. I dug Starlight a lot but I read Sharkey the Bounty Hunter and hated it. Millar is hit and miss with me and the misses are hardcore misses.
That Black and White omni in the thumbnail messed me up, I watched this twice trying to figure out why there weren't any Batman books in a Batman Graphic Novel Hidden Gems video.

Great list. I'll check out American Carnage since it's the only one I've not read.
I was like “ mark Miller on Omar’s list... gasp! What’s next chuck Austin “

I will say the mark Millar swamp thing run is pretty dope and underrated as well as the superman adventures run he did.

I enjoyed this years ago. I would probably buy the hardcover if it was in a large format, because the art is so intricate
My wallet hates this segment, but my brain and eyes love it 😆
These all look great! thanks for the monthly contributions to my to-read list.
Enjoyed some of these nonfiction gems recently:
Paying the Land
Tiananman 1989: Our Shattered Hopes
Jerusalem: Chronicles from the Holy City
I just bought Paying the Land. I'm really looking forward to it.
Algorithm! Also, I like this series. Keep it going.

Enjoyed Starblades which was a crowdfunded book by a deaf creator. Fantastic.
Great video man. Some really cool picks here I’ll have to check out
Hope you enjoy.
Swords of the Swashbucklers is a great book
Demanded is a strong word, begged sounds more accurate....😉👍
Really appreciate you doing this my man❤️❤️❤️❤️

A few non superhero books I still read are Liberty Meadows and The Far Side. I recommend them to anyone who wants to relax with a humorous book.

All 2000 AD fans of a certain age who remember what Millar did back then respond: “Nope. That’s fine by us.”
My favorite segment is baaaaaaaaaaaaack!
My favorite comic is fables
Red moon - Carlos trills Eduardo Risso

One of the best one of these yet! Thanks Omar! Lots of choices…
Hey hey hidden gems! Nice one thank you.
Excellent list, Omar!!
If you liked the beautiful death you must read Shangri-la by the same writer. Totally awesome!!!
Glad to see a Franco-Belgian comic in that mix.
Is there any chance that you will do a little mini review of the first Heroes Union issue in the near future Omar? It's new, and both Sal Buscema and Roger Stern has worked on that book
the art for these books are incredible !
My favorite series! Time to break another piggy bank!
I've just finished reading MADI: Once Upon a Time In the Future. Very interesting and very good!
I got the hardcover from Kickstarter. I haven’t read it yet, so it’s good to hear a positive review. I know it is set in Duncan Jones’ sci-if world and I love the film Moon, but I had issues with Mute.

Hahaha I mentioned Cutthroat Island on a video a few weeks ago.
Abraxas And The Earthman by Rick Veitch
Yo Omar! I enjoyed Trouble by Mark Millar .....
I’ll have to check out Chrononauts. I dug Starlight a lot but I read Sharkey the Bounty Hunter and hated it. Millar is hit and miss with me and the misses are hardcore misses.
you should get rex mundi
So far I'm yet to find a graphic novel which tops Asterios Polyp... but these will be interesting to read later ;)
aaaahhhh finally a top fav. Video!
i really like swords of Swashbucklers it is a cool idea
Orc Stain by James Stokoe is a good one. The art is great and the world is fun.
I was sooooo disappointed when I finished vol one and found out there was no vol 2.
Interesting titles Omar! May I suggest Trese by Tan and Baldisimo from ablaze? They made it into a Netflix show too
Try Elmer by Gerry Alanguilan. :)
Love it
