- These are 20 quick facts about Stardew Valley mobile that you want to know! I've decided to share the most interesting things I've found so far in one neat little video. SDV mobile feels very well done so far, some people even say it's better than the PC version! Stardew Valley mobile gameplay with my commentary as always.

You can pinch the screen in or out,
This can help when you're out in the farm looking for some wild plants like leeks, daffodils, etc...
Just pinch out to zoom out then you can easily find any wild plants that you want.
It can ease the navigation too, specially when there's a lot of obstacles in your way, you can just zoom out and click at your point of destination, then your character will figure out a way to get through those obstacles by itself.
Sometimes it takes a very dumb route to do so. Especially if an animal gets in the way. Oh how I wish I could get rid of my pet.

honestly the only complain i have is the mini game in the arcade, it’s absolutely IMPOSSIBLE

To all those android comments, I have an android but I just play on the switch
Sacred Bucket what is that going to resolve?
Something I have noticed after playing for 3 in game years: You can’t interact with kegs, preserve jars, casks, etc. that are in a corner covered by 2 other of those items. You can do this on PC. This makes barns full of kegs much less efficient as you lose 1 in every row due to not being able to interact with them. Hopefully I explained this well and please let me know if anyone finds a way to get around this.
P.S: Harvesting is also much slower because you can only do 1 at a time but that isn’t as big a deal as the keg/mine rooms.

Nope you can! Just press the direction where the corner is then hold 'til you're too close to the artisan processor then click it.

In the settings menu, you can add joysticks when clicking on the thing right under “save backup”. I currently have mine at “tap-and-move & joystick & button” :)
we have the same, definitely the best option for controls although I hope they could improve it more especially when trying to mine and attack it deselects the weapon and choose the pickaxe. Even sometimes when I use horizontal toolbar when trying to scroll side by side it gets buggy.

Its interesting to come at this from the mobile end and see what you guys found different coming to it. I just barely bought the game for my PC after playing mobile and was surprised about a lot of the auto functions that are not in the game from the mobile version. I guess Ive been spoiled in that way.
Same. I bought the PC version yesterday because I wanted to try mods, and I was constantly trying to destroy rocks by clicking on them and being confused why my character wasn't moving towards the rock, equipping the pickaxe, and destroying it. They just stood where I left them and swung at the air, emptyhanded. Like a weirdo.
I started on mobile this year and just lately bought the pc version. In my own experience, fishing is much easier on pc. I love the co-op feature as well on pc. It really is a great game on both platforms!

i highly recommend going into your settings and changing your buttons to tap, joystick, and buttons. it makes fighting 1000% easier
I like that you can play the same game on iOS and PC by just transferring files
Has anyone tried putting a slime incubator in the secret woods and seeing if the hatched slimes can mate with the slimes already there?
they do, but all u get is either green, or gross pam, I mean brown looking ones
With the fishing, you can hold your finger on the screen and your character will follow the direction. Helps to get them in the right spot and then drag your finger in the direction you want to cast. Works better than trying to tap
they really need to improve the mechanism for moving things to and from chests. it's incredibly hard to move only a fraction of a stack, you have to hold and hope you get the right amount. and if the game doesn't like where you drag it, too bad, you have to try again! it's infuriating.
Agree. They could easily implement the same strategy that you use to buy items, where you can just select the number of items you want

I gave up playing that... I totally suck at it. Cannot get a handle on the controls and I only get worse as I get more pissed off.
Malte Wesemann the controls are actually almost exactly what df said the combat controls should be: a dpad on the left which moves you and a dpad on the right to fire your gun in any direction
Never play that peace of sh*t till the dev updates it because it’s so hard to control

I respect the combo of drawing in casual viewers with the 20 facts label + the casual "that's about 20" at the end.
That was as smart as it was lazy. lol
Fact 21: the item code spawning cheat works on mobile, but it won't warn you if you dont have room for all 3 possible items in your inventory.
I installed SV on iPhone as well as iPad, and I totally agree a Dpad is almost necessary for the iPad, while I think touch & hold is comfortable on iPhone. Coversely, I find fishing to be almost prohibitively difficult on iPhone, while it works better on the larger screen.

@@InKY09 so there was a update from apple that apparently took out the brackets on iOS and i didn't know that till just a few minutes ago so that's pretty sad but thank you for your help
Kitkat I have the most recent update, and the brackets aren’t gone; they have just moved to the right side of the characters keyboard in some apps. Touch the “123” key and then the “#+=“ key, and see if you can find them.

There is an option to change to ‘joystick and two buttons’, this will make fishing even easier.
Just remember to turn on this controller switch thing to change back to ‘tap to move & auto attack’ quickly.

Another thing about the attack controls, you are able to block attacks simply by tapping on the mobs……..that is if you click the right spot and your idiot is quick enough. Haha. I’ve only mainly played Stardew Valley on mobile and I really enjoy it, the only flaw I really dislike is the combat, but it’s not like there’s anything they could really do like you said
My favorite is the zoom feature. I find it also helps with the trickiness of misclicking.
There are also a ton of different control schemes to try out on mobile. I personally think the best is Virtual Joystick + Buttons + Touch. It's versatile so you can use whatever control is best for the circumstance. For example, walking a long distance I will zoom out and tap on the furthest point but when I'm fighting in the mines, I use the virtual Joystick and buttons.

You can change the controls in settings where you can pick joystick etc
This was actually from the older versions so it didn't have that setting back then.
I really love playing on my tablet, the controls are so much nicer, however modding really sucks, some is possible, some is not. Played the vanilla game pretty much through once and moved onto PC to expand Stardew valley and add more endgame content. I do prefer the mobile version by far just not having mods is the downside.
Are mods available on the switch? If so what mods do you recommend? Where do I find them?

Don't forget that on the mobile version you can use both a virtual button set and the touch controls. You can still glitch out of the map and use the item-code name trick with pets and your player name.
You can also use a bunch of mods, though a handful of pretty nice ones don't work. CBJ item spawner works, dunno about cheat menu
Will you be doing a mobile playthrough. Yah yah I know it’s like the pc version but would love to see you do a legit iOS playthrough.
Also...the fishing I find difficult and after doing research tons of other players too find the iOS fishing a little tedious. I just can’t see, to reel in the fish. I can handle the casting part. But the actually getting the fish has been tough.

I'm curious as to whether they changed the saving mechanism for this game. Mobile games are kinda designed so that either it can be put down and picked back up at any given moment or for the levels to be only a few minutes long. Stardew Valley's individual days are roughly 15 minutes long depending on when you go to bed. If I can't drop it on a whim, that means if I wanna play this on break at work, I'd need to pick it up the second break starts and can't go to bed until the very end of the shift if I want a productive in-game day
Total Trash Mammal The saving is a bit :// it only saves when you go to bed, aka after each day, so if you put your phone down in the middle of a day, your progress won’t have been saved.
@@Izzy-jj5ev I mean, someone on a forum i found pointed out that if you put your phone into sleep mode with the app still open, youll just go right back to where you left off, but it still doesn't feel like enough. Better, but not enough.
If You’ve ever considerd a nintendo Switch, this might be a thing to keep in mind, since there is a sleep mode on those! To buy a Switch just for stardew seems a bit exessive though

Go to options and press save
And when you come back it will start from when you last saved and not the beginning of the day
As of the current moment, you can it holds your current progress. If you exit the game, but keep it running, it will return exactly where you stopped. If you actually close the game and come back, it holds an autosave and asks you if you wish to continue where you left off.
Owning it for both the PC and now the phone, I'd actually say the phone version is the best. Barring multiplayer, of course.
Combat with auto-attack off is much better than with auto-attack on. It takes some getting used to, but it generally works well. The most difficult monsters for me thus far have been the duggies (I’m to floor 50 in the mines thus far) but I’m finding adapting to the different controls in combat just fine at the moment

You can just use the joystick and buttons control. But it's quite hard to place items. There's a toggle switch which is a shortcut to switch from Joystick and buttons to tap to move
I agree, it really needs a virtual dpad or joystick. There are a few other bugs, but the controls are the main thing

Bluetooth controller with this makes it great for all issues
I'm waiting for it to come to Android, and not having a tablet, only a good ole' phone, I'm actually glad there is no d-pad or anything, as it would obscure the already limited space... but an option in the menu to switch between the two modes might be useful...

Zoom! If you want better touch accuracy, zoom in so hitboxes are bigger and easier to differentiate. Then zoom way out when you're exploring.
I still don't know how to use weapon alternative, and upgraded tools charge action without changing controls to joystick and buttons. I would love to be able to tap and hold to trigger tool charging so I don't have to constantly change control modes to water efficiently, although the quick swap button makes it a bit less irritating..
I noticed that in the area south of the farm, it seemed to get a bit framey/laggy. Was that just a recording error, or is that actually happening?
The beginning was literally like the most accurate thing on watering.. I thought it wasn't something alot of people knew!

i own three copies of this game. one on pc, one on ps4, and one on kindle fire. my favorite version to play is hands down on pc. my second favorite is actually playing on my kindle fire, though. i love that i can transfer my save file from my tablet to my pc and vice versa. really makes slow days at work a lot better. anyhoo i dunno why i'm leaving this comment. love your vids, DF! i hope to see some more SV content soon but i know you have pretty much exhausted that game lol.

if you’re annoyed by the controls, you can actually change it if you scroll further down on the controls tab thingy, there’s a bunch of different options :D

You can change the controls to a joystick and 2 buttons if you prefer. That's what I do, and it supports bluetooth controllers nativly too

Fishing is not easy at all... the fish moves too quickly, and the green bar always bounces and hard to control..

That’s how it is on the computer too. You have to level up your fishing skill to make it easier.
Just get used to it. I got the the hang of it and basically had no problems as early as before the summer of the first year starts.

One change I noticed on mobile is…
If you hover your finger over the lonely rock it will still make the rock sound but will not close the menu

for moving items into a chest or inventory, you can tap the item then the place you want to put it instead of dragging. also found out you can still name your character item list like [163][165][645] this still works but getting gus to say your name multiple times on first day is unlikely. i was able to get him to say my name by the 4th or 6th day. doing item list on dog or cat causes game to crash doesnt matter if its 1,2 or 3 of the item ids it will still crash. not sure if that goes the same for farm animals.
This is fun and good, but I need to know if there is a limit on how many times you can marry and divorce.

I didn't look through all the comments but you actually can drop things onto the ground!! It seems really finicky when you're trying to drop it but I've done it a few times.

Mumps is the name of character that df divorces people with.
The combat is tough unless you use the buttons option but that is also difficult if you dont click the right buttons
For me fishing is most annoying thing

@@MILL1PEDE Because no matter how good touch controls get they will always be trash and outclassed by physical controllers, Also there are controllers that are pretty small now days so keeping them in a bag or pocket isn't that bad unless you are one of those people who ware pants so tight they rip when you bend over.

Something that took me a while to figure out was how to sell to merchants. Finally found the inventory tab above Pierre's head. Also, I do *not* like fishing. Yet. I know the better I get, the easier it gets, so I'll wait it out.

Now it may seem like this would be terrible for smaller screens, but it works surprisingly well on my phone, since I would often use it so I could play stardew valley in between classes

There is a red joystick on the right side of the screen when you equip a weapon which is more accurate than auto-attacking
