- Some Los Angeles area hotel operators are jacking up their room prices for Super Bowl weekend, Inside Edition found in an investigation. But if you’re going to pay top dollar, you’d hope to get your money’s worth. As chief investigative correspondent Lisa Guerrero reports, some motels are increasing prices by more than 800%, and some rooms Inside Edition checked out were unclean and unkempt. We found soiled mattress covers, old food on floors, and ominous red stains on shower curtains, even discarded condom packaging.

They did this last year & I thoroughly enjoy seeing them out these hotel rooms. Hotels need to be held accountable!
Even more if they can cope with sanitising the rooms when the guest leave, in the era of Covid.

Sometimes they clean less often *during your stay* so it reduces contact during the stay. They’re *supposed* to clean it after every guest.

I once looked under the bed in one AirBnB I stayed at and it is still one of the most regrettable decisions of my life. Since then, I no longer look under beds in hotels and AirBnBs, I just assume it is always gross.

If you can afford to go to the Stuper Bowl, then you should be able to afford a decent hotel.
Decent hotel with cost you 2 grand a night on super bowl. Cheaper to go on on a yacht.

After losing my housing last year I've been residing in the local motels in this area. I've been scrambling trying to figure out where I'm gonna go after being informed by my current motel that the rates will be going from around $100 per day, to over $400 starting tomorrow. I opened my mini fridge this morning and saw a roach running across the inside.😬 The way the super bowl has affected Inglewoods most vulnerable residents has been disgraceful.

With the eviction ban last year, you shouldn't of left your housing. Only thing you can do it go outside Inglewood for a few days or stay in your car if you have one.

It should be illegal to have hazards in a business. Just like restaurants could be shut down if the food is unsafe. Hotels should face the same consequences.

That's why my friend anytime him and his family travel he brings his on linen and a spray bottle of lysol. He always ask his room to be clean before he enters.
I've been doing that for years too. Lysol and cleanser. I hate to travel, especially here in the states. Before I leave I always put all sheets mattress covers and towels used and unused in 1 big pile with the wet wash cloths and towels on top. I usually stay in 4 or 5 star rated hotels, they can be just as disgusting. I do the same to them too. Stayed at the Mandarin hotel in DC back in Dec. It's an older hotel, but they were pretty good. Staff was great.

Saying that won't change anything, there'll always be someone out there that's dirty. It should be the hotel's obligation to keep a sanitary condition. Besides, when you pay for a room, you're not paying for the person last in there to be clean, but for the hotel to make it clean.

If you’re paying for a luxury hotel prices for a motel, you’re better off driving from a neighboring city at least 30mins away. It’ll be cheaper renting a car and staying at a much nicer and clean hotel and still have extra left over cash.

Never staying in 6 hotels ever for the rest of my life or any of the other ones that aren’t up to standard…
As someone who have been to over 500 hotels I can tell you that’s unfortunately very common in even luxury high end hotels.
I guess it's good we go to hotels EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. I also feel more comfortable bringing my own blankets and pillows because that's MY GUNK.

housekeeping doesn't exist anymore in this covid age. Every time I have strayed at a hotel these past year, I have had to clean my own room. This has happened at Hiltons, Marriotts. They charge the same price for a room yet I have to make my own bed and clean my floor.
You can still request that they clean the room. They don’t clean usually to reduce cross contact

This is the reason why it’s always important to look at the online reviews before reserving rooms at a hotel/motel. Most likely, the faults in these rooms would’ve been reported in the online reviews section.
Unfortunately people pay the prices hotels wouldn't jack up the prices if people wouldn't pay it.

Im not sure how it works there, but couldn't people book way in advance and pay the normal price? Or is it like when you go on a cruise they have different rates depending on the date whether you pre book or not?
Possibly. The hotel I work at people stayed there over the 4th of July and then later made a reservation for the following year. They were paying about $119 a night which is roughly our down time price. Other people were paying $300-$400 a night. It's not price gouging. That price is based off demand for the area. We can override to what we want but we usually don't.

Considering they give you 30 minutes to clean a room and it’s HARD TO CLEAN A ROOM I KNOW I DID IT FOR A FEW MONTHS in 30 minutes you get that much clean.
Tell your management it is IMPOSSIBLE to clean a room in that amount of time! Fight back so these things change for this industry!
