That new fern piece is a godsend, for all the things you can do with LEGO bricks they're rather lacking when it comes to trees. LEGO really needs to start putting out specific trunk pieces and expand the range of foliage pieces even further.
I will never shame the simple single tree brick. Cost effective and the simple aesthetic is pleasing during a time when lego was simple and aesthetically pleasing
Honestly, I still prefer the original tree for both nostalgic reasons and for cost effectiveness, especially when coupled with 2x2 round bricks for adding height and used as fill for creating forest-like areas.
Omg thank you for this video. I've been searching all day for a design like the last one with the fern leaves, cause I knew Id seen something similar before, but couldn't find it lmao
After watching and searching so meny videos to make trees some wer either not possible for me to find all the pieces on the lego website but the pine tree is finally something i am really interested in and the pieces are all in reach so thanks alot for this video
I love your builds. I want to lead with that. But I'm commenting because you need a word of advice: before releasing your videos, make sure you can clearly hear all of your narration over the background music, and make doubly sure that any sound effects are are not twice the volume of everything else.
@@BenTheBrickBuilder Really, the main issue is actually the inconsistency of your vocal volume. Because I see plenty of little effects throughout the video, I can tell you care about making these look polished, so it'd be a good investment of your time to learn how to make these videos SOUND polished too. What you need is some basic audio compression so your voice is a consistent volume throughout, sitting on top of the music where it belongs. Right now, most sentences start out at a good volume, but as you're completing the sentence, the volume gradually fades and the last few words are nearly inaudible. A compressor will bring the vocal up in volume when it gets too quiet, and down in volume when it gets too loud (this should also be used on any sound effects). You should be able to bring all the pieces-VOX, SFX, BGM-to the right levels when employed correctly. It takes a little knowledge to learn how to use a compressor, but you'll start getting the hang of it within a few minutes of practice. Good luck 👍
How dare you slander the classic Lego tree! 😛 It looked great back then and it still holds up now! But in all seriousness, I'm actually really sad they discontinued it. It was such a classic piece, and just like the classic palm tree, it will be missed. A lot of the MoC trees I've seen don't really look that great, to be honest. People make them way too big with may too many tiny pieces, and they end up not really fitting the Lego aesthetic anymore. I mean, people can build their trees however they want, but I think some people really overdo it. They don't have to be as meager as a lot of Lego's own brickbuilt trees, but they don't have to look like you just dipped a glue-covered stick in a bucket of flower stem pieces either. And I like when they have a certain level of sturdiness. A lot of tree MoCs looks like they will fall apart if you look at them funny.

New trunks would be very interesting

I must admit I do love the classic tree, it was only for the thumbnail

This is an awesome video and awesome tree tutorial!!
Thanks bro
The fern tree looks amazing! I'm wondering how to make it 2-3 times as tall. I want to surround the new x-mansion with them. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve also been wondering if it would be possible to make it bigger, haven’t done much experimenting with it tho
These trees are great, I really love the complexity too on that winter version of the fern pine you’re working on 👀🌲
Thanks
Ben is our new Dan the fan

Great stuff, I love the fern tree
Thanks
Great vid, thanks! Where did you get the term "travis bricks"?
I got some on the pick a brick a few years ago, I regret not getting more
Misread the question it comes from a builder named Travis kunce who passed away
They look more like Spruce or Fir trees than Pine, but we use Spruce and Fir for Christmas trees instead of Pine anyway.
Pine trees has kinda become synonymous with conifers so that why I call them all pine

Travis brick? I thought those were called snot bricks 🤔
They are snot bricks but Travis brick is a colloquial term for the 1x1 with studs on all 4 sides, named after a community member who passed away
Although i think all of those trees are a spruce, not a pine. .
C is for conifers, my kind of trees (they might be giants)

Getting audio right is probably my biggest issue with making videos, is it too loud throughout the whole video or just specific spots
