As a LEGO castle builder, I love the 1x2 round plate with hollowed studs! I will often stack three of them to get a full brick height, and use those "sub-assemblies" instead of normal flat 1x2 bricks, as it gives such a nice texture for a castle wall.
That ingot piece is a godsend! I try telling people that mod their lego star wars sets by covering it in plates to consider texturing. Like that ingot piece alone adds in ALOT of nice detail alone.
100% agree. I used 84 of the ingot pieces to tile of my AT-TE with them. Especially on vehicles it really gives the same feel as modern reactive armor on modern tanks
As someone just starting to get into MOC-building, this series is insanely useful, thanks so much! Once its all done, a series on how you do different basic-intermediate building techniques would be amazing. Also, that was a really cool use of the AI image in your ad. Kinda like a smaller scale version of The Volume from Star Wars/Marvel productions
Printed slopes are some of my favorites! They come in real handy as control panels and consoles, as well as general detailing. One of the ones I love most is the dark gray slope with black and yellow caution line print from the Rock Raiders sets. The print on those includes nicks and scratches to depict the wear and tear on vehicles navigating subterranean tunnels. And now thanks to you, I've got my eye on those printed vent slopes ;)
Solid Brix was wondering if after all these vids you should consider make a video going over how to incorporate these onto builds like Start off with 16x16 that would be very helpful to a beginner like myself
Very good pieces, recently I’m using a lot the little bar with the angled stud, it is very good. Not just for posing minifigs, but also to build in different directions
Yes, I think I've used virtually all the pieces you just highlighted, with the possible exception of the roof tiles from the castle, which I think are quite recent innovations. I do wonder if Lego should stop making additional shapes from now on, as part of the challenge is to make use of the existing items. It sometimes seems like cheating when they create a new piece just to solve a difficult problem, such as the curved window on the back of the speed champions James Bond car. Great vid btw. :)
Hey David , I started making mocs about 2 years ago and i have improved in my opinion. I have been making a umbara moc since the start of the year and i am still not finished because i cant really buy good pieces for cheap prices in Turkey so i have been using my own pieces. I want to make geonosis can you make a video only about like certain planets useful pieces? Thank you loved the video!!
Hey! I’m the person that wanted a picture with you and was acting awkward lol. I just wanted to say hi if you see this comment and it still feels unreal that I actually got to meet you and get a picture!
Man I'd love to meet up and have you show me everything in person. I am in the current stage of sorting all of my childhood legos.... only 2 more big plastic tubs left. taking forever. But wanting to start building my first moc soon
Freudian Slip at 1:51 lol. I think you're blending the words "masonry" (mason-REE) with "missionary" hahahaha. There is no such thing as masonary (mason-air-ee)
For a build with a translucent color scheme (specifically a trans red and trans orange Phoenix) what color(s) would you recommend making the core structure?
Hi David, apostrophes don’t make words plural. It should be MOCs, not MOC’s. Just kindly letting you know that it’s a good idea to check spelling & grammar to make your content more professional.
My personal best cheatcode.. euh piece for mocs is the new 2023 piece 3386. I missed this a number of times when designing mocs. This piece overcomes a lot of designing problems and it almost feels like cheating.

I also love 1x2 rail plates! Another great way to break up a wall without using up a SNOT brick 👌

Yeah, I agree. The masonry profile bricks are awesome to use.
8:08 it came in the Daily Bugle
I need these 1x2 brick faces in YELLOW, looking to re-do Lion Knights Castle in yellow. Can't without this piece.

Loved the video man! Really love how in depth you go! Very Helpful!

Saved to my personal project ideas.
I am a huge fan of this series so far 👏 Really useful tips for moc building
A profesional little showcase!
When you have already stocked up on most of the pieces that David has talked about 😎
Very good pieces, recently I’m using a lot the little bar with the angled stud, it is very good. Not just for posing minifigs, but also to build in different directions
now that i think about it the curved bar piece could be used for a budget count duku's lightsaber
I would LOVE a tutorial and piece recommendation video for MOC landscaping if you're taking requests :)

Great video otherwise. Thanks for the info
