I've seen a version of the second crochet method, but instead of a long tail, you simply crochet with two different colors of yarn. You'd yarn over with one color and pull through the other, then alternate it. It makes a very nice striped cord :)
you are a freaking life saver!!!! I don't have an i-cord machine and it's not sold in my country, so I was not sure how to get this done. Then you appeared. Thank you, thank you!
Thank you so much! I am making Christmas presents for 21grandchildren and I was struggling with crocheting and holding the stithes. The "game changer" method is going to speed up the process immensely! Thanks again!!!
Thanks for sharing! The last one would probably be my favorite! I'm looking forward to trying several of the ways you demonstrated! Blessings to all in love and light!🙏🏼💜🙏🏼💙🙏🏼🧡🙏🏼💛🙏🏼💚🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing!! I was always taught to use the double point knitting needles to make I-CORDS when you cast on your 3 or 4 stitches and knit them you just slide them down to the other side of the same needle they were worked on, hence, the purpose of a double pointed knitting needle being used, which is basically the same as how you used the cable knitting needle. Also regarding the crochet method, I think I will try it and use a thin stitch holder since I have problems with my hands and I would more than likely drop the stitches! Again, THANK YOU for sharing these different methods for I-CORD!!
That's a great idea, I'd love to know if you have success with the stitch holder. If I need a cord 3 stitches or more, I definitely prefer the dpn/circular needle way too. I'm so glad you liked the video, thanks for watchin 😊
My favorite way to icord is using a lucet. Some call it a knitting fork. It dates back to the Vikings. There are several ways to use it depending on the stretchyness of the yarn. Enjoy. 🙂
I have a few lucets and absolutely love them! Though if people want to try this method without needing to buy a special tool there are some really creative DIY ways.
Thank you for this comprehensive tutorial! I also crochet and knit, and also look for the best way to do the job, regardless the craft. I need to make a strap, but the ribbon yarn I'm using is quirky. I tried using my lucet fork but the braid looked horrible! The same strap looked great using Bernat blanket yarn. I just don't like the "traditional" crochet way of dropping the stitches - my cats are always trying to get my attention away from my work, so I need to be able to set my work down at a moment's notice. If I had one of those French looms, I might use that, but I don't (I know I could craft my own but I'm not feeling that crafty today). The strap is for a crocheted purse, but I think I'm going to knit the i-cord handle. Thanks for helping me decide!
You're a star! Thanks for this tutorial! It is brilliant! I have been using a knitting mill but I hate that I can't use thicker yarn with it! I will try your methods👌👌
I really like the last two ways. Will you please make a video showing how to make rows of I chords? I want to use them to make the brim of a beanie hat. Thanks.
This probably won't help me today, since I need to get the item I am making in the mail in just a little while, but for future reference, how do you finish off the version that you make starting with a long tail? I can't imagine that you just leave the little tail hanging loose when you're done.
Ok I love the fastest method with the aqua yarn! Game changer is right! I can't wait to try this! But I want to know if you can do it with another stitch, to make it "square" like the rest of the Icords? I used to make my Icords by chaining the amount I wanted then slip stitching back over them. Makes the cord a bit more like a triangle shape, but still has the knit V look except the 3rd side.
Ooo thats a cool method too. I'm gonna have to play around with it. Honestly I made this video almost as soon as I learned about the yarning over with the tail method 'cuz I was so excited 😂
No nonsense, informative and very helpful. Thank you!

Wow, 21 grandchildren! You're living the dream 😍
Your favorite method is now my favorite too! So much easier than all the other methods. Thanks
OMG, the second crochet version looks PERFECT for my next project!! 😍😍 Thank you so much for demonstrating this!!!!
Great, all in one video! Thank you!
God bless you for helping us make 1-cord

I agree, this is brilliant! thanks for this
Wow, what a great choice of easy cords. !
the second crochet method is amazinggggggggg! I saw it once a long time ago and could't remember how to do it, so your video is a lifesaver lol
Wow!! That is SO cool!! Definitely trying these. Thanks so much.
Probably good to show it from start on loom

Thank you for this video. I am going to try this with my loom knitter

I use 1 pulling from center and the other from the outside, to Never run out of tail.
So helpful!!! Thank you!
Love this video! Very helpful! Thanks!
You can also knit icord on double pointed needles, easily slipping the work back and forth!
Ya caught me... I don't have any DPNs🙈🙈🙈 don't tell the other knitters, I think they'll disown me!
GIRL YOU GOT THERE B4 ME

Thanks again🌸🌼🌹 Michelle❤️
Enjoying watching your videos for the first time. There is a 7th way... with a lucet.
How about some more knitting on a knitting loom?? Would be fantabulous!!!!
So cool
Thank you so much 👌🙏
Wow it works… I’m doing it on crochet hook your method👌
Brilliant 😃
You can do it on a fork also in the fashion of the loom.
Brilliant! Used the baby crochet one...🌿
awesome :D
Used the long tail method for shoelaces for baby booties. Worked great. Can you do more than 2 stitches?

Omg you're awesome!
so are you!😄
How do you cover the wire with this? Like if I made a name from wire and wanted to cover it?
What is I cord used for?
Whatever you want really; although, it's really good for edging detail, or even the handles of mug holders or bags.
How long do you knit it for the halterneck top?
Hi, can we put a wire through this icord? I made it but I cannot put a wire through it
What are icords used for?
the very light green is very thin cord... how can we make the same method but thicker cord???

My fast way is double pointed needles🧶
I'm curious to know what your project was that you needed so much I-cord for

how long did you knit the i cord for the halter top?
