    Wow! Thank you brother for the amazingly well produced (except the glare haha, but you ain't alone) video, with extremely well structured introduction to a character I've never played but always been semi attracted to for it's complexity and intricacies. This has to be the best ever Azalea (sorry AZ from Go Gaming, ya got great content too!) that really made Azalea make sense from an outsiders perspective.... pun intended haha.
    I have long felt that Azalea and Death Dealer in tandem and ranger in general had strong class / hero options. I've stood on the outside and heard all the complaining about how terrible she was, and watched Steven Wooley from TC essentially spend the first 2 years of his FaB life trying to break Azalea and have any success with her. Love ya TC! go support them if ya don't, great team of folks, with Zach Bunn heading the Wolf Pack.
    Anyhow just wanted to thank you for this amazing video, which I'll definitely save to my folder and keep for eventually the time, maybe soon in Outsiders when I may end up piloting a ranger deck. I have a Lexi blitz deck, the first I ever purchased along with Oldhim, followed by Briar, and Lexi is definitely cool, maybe less intricate than Azalea with her manipulation of the top deck. I am a Mechanologist main, and Data Doll is honestly one of my favourite decks to play, but is sooooo horrible into anything that pumps out huge damage quick, which is much in this current 'go wide' meta. I hope LSS moves away from the ultra wide format, and realizes that there's a whole bunch of mid range heroes that cannot really function or perform well when there's no reason to block or care about the late game.
    Hope to see more Azalea vids following this model. Btw, do you play any other decks or make vids for other heroes like this video?

      Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
      Azalea has always been my favorite deck to play since I picked her up shortly after I started - and even after well over 1000 games with the hero, I’m always learning something new.
      I do play a lot of Iyslander as well, but I never made an introduction video for her (as there are great resources out there for her already). I don’t have any other heros lined up in the near future for something like this. I don’t think I’m qualified to make anything of this caliber on another hero, as I don’t like to make videos on topics that I’m not qualified for :)

    this video was incredibly helpful but i noticed at 46:32 you weren't evaluating the cards properly cause you counted 2 card 12 when you used seek and destroy to buff so it's actually a three card 12. In the playline before you also misevaluated, but the video is amazing and is really helpful i just wanted to help you understand the evaluation of card value if you were confused by it as I was for awhile.

    This is a wonderful video. I learned a lot. I would love to see you play a game or two with beginners in mind explaining lines of play. I know you have streamed, but sometimes it helps to slow it down a bit. Nitan at Galaxy Brain did something similar for the fatigue play style of oldhim. He explains his line and how alternatives might have been viable. Just a suggestion. Thanks a ton for your contributions.

    Loved the video. I just started playing fab about a month ago and pulled a skullbone crosswrap in my first ever box of arcane. Pretty excited about that as I had my eye on playing azalea anyway at this point.
    I have a question though, in your video you say you feel azalea matches pretty well against most heroes, but most of the videos I watch or tier lists I see have her right at the bottom. Why do you think this is? If you could give her one thing what would it be?

    • @Im_a_Papaya
      @Im_a_Papaya ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think there are a lot of reasons why Azalea gets put near the bottom of people tier lists.
      1. Azalea has historically been quite bad. I think azalea’s power level prior to everfest actually was near the bottom if not the bottom. With everfest, she got big upgrades and tools, but they got overlooked due to the meta being starvo.
      2. Azalea is not an easy deck to play, and it has also lacked good competitive resources for a long time (which I’m trying to help with!). The other low tier heros like Levia and Boltyn have great players (such as Ethan and Josh Lau) making high quality content for those heros. So those communities have been able to optimize their heros much more than the Azalea community has.
      3. Azalea does still have the normal ranger weaknesses, and it’s very easy to point to azalea drawing a hand with no arrows and conclude that the hero is bad off the back of that. There are consistency issues, but Azalea is able to mitigate a lot of them with good deck building and careful gameplay.
      At the end of the day I don’t think Azalea is a top tier deck. If you want to win your PQ by any means possible - this is not the hero to play for that event. However I think that with practice and good gameplay, you can do well with Azalea - and that’s what I’m here to try to help people do!

    Have you considered Yellow ridge rider shot? It's a nice pitch, nice block and the opt when put face up can allow you to get a dominate to end your turn. I haven't had time to test it, but it might be an option to replace blue head shot

    • @Im_a_Papaya
      @Im_a_Papaya ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ridge rider shot was in the list for a long time. Back in the Monarch Meta, I used to play yellows for the exact reasons you listed! With the introduction of ice heros in ToA, I switched to blues - and blue RRS was the default blue arrow for quite some time. It was only a few months ago where I made the switch from RRS to head shot. I found myself too often not finding the dominate when I was loading blue RRS, or finding it on top when looking to dominate an arrow. Head shot blue definitely has a lower ceiling - but it has felt much more consistent than RRS.

    • @roguenoob
      @roguenoob ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Im_a_Papaya I didn't think about the ice heroes basically forcing you to play blue (not many in my local meta) but that makes sense. I don't know if I would want to actually shoot a blue RRS, that a very underwhelming arrow.

  • @benaustin7926

    I take it you prefer Deathdealer over Sandscour?
    I’m a fairly new player, but I thought being able to load an arrow in from the top of your deck was more optimum with Sandscour? With Deathdealer, if you draw an arrow you want to fire, you sometimes can’t get that arrow into your arsenal.
    I’m interested to hear your thought here.

    • @theroundtableofrathe

      (Chris) hi, Ben. Levi has been busy the past few weeks practicing and grinding ProQuests. When he has a minute, I'm sure he will reply to your comment! Thanks!

    • @Im_a_Papaya
      @Im_a_Papaya ปีที่แล้ว

      In its current form, I much prefer Death Dealer. While the case you described does work out a bit better for Sandscour, on average I've found Death Dealer to provide more consistent value.
      With sandscour, you don't know what is on top of your deck while blocking on the previous turn - so you won't know if sandscour can get you an arrow. If sandscour does get you an arrow, now you have an extra arrow in your hand.
      Death dealer also gives you a lot more agency over what arrow you fire while still being efficient. You can choose to block with extra arrows, and hold the arrow that you want to fire. In sandscour you would have to be inefficient with your bow by loading from hand to fire that specific arrow. You are more likely to draw the arrow that you want to fire than to see it on top of the deck with sandscour.
      Lastly, Death Dealer gives more flexibility with the top of the deck when combined with crosswrap and azalea ability. Sandscour does not have a way to draw the card that you opt on top, while death dealer typically does have that option.

    That is such a great Series. I really love the Rangers in the Game and I wanna build Azalea also, but I am kinda hesitant to get myself a Skullwrap when I have New Horizon. Can I still make her work with the New Horizon?

    • @Im_a_Papaya
      @Im_a_Papaya ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pre-Outsiders, I would say no. Crosswrap is too important for Azalea's current playlines. That said, once outsiders comes out - it's possible that new horizon becomes a viable option (or even the better option!)

  • @erikklerouge
    @erikklerouge ปีที่แล้ว

    What's your thoughts about the new dynasty bow and the aim counter ?
    (sandscour greatbow)

    • @Im_a_Papaya
      @Im_a_Papaya ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Without the aim counter text, sandscour is a much weaker bow than Death Dealer. So the way for SSGB to beat DD would be when Aim Counter payoff cards outweigh the weaker bow text. Currently I don’t think we have enough powerful aim counter payoff to offset the weaker bow. Once outsiders drops though, I expect sandscour to be the stronger bow.

    I was hopeful that this was, finally, a truly beginner video, where there isn't the presumption that a viewer knows what all the cards do already. But it isn't. Don't bait viewers with a beginner video title, and then at 6:35 state outright that you aren't going to explain how specific carsds function. That's the period of time it takes for you to both gain, and lose, a subscriber.

      @@theroundtableofrathe I appreciate your response, and understanding of my comment.
      If you want to grow your channel, I see a total void of content for brand new players. Not novices, that's covered, but simple explanations of each hero and how their mechanics work. Plenty of content on how to advanced deck build, but total absence of how they work in a commoner format.
      I would watch every single one of those, twice.
