    The Chevrolet Van or Chevy Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans and GMC Vandura) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1996 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The model line was sold in passenger van and cargo van configurations as well as a cutaway van chassis that served as the basis for a variety of custom applications.
    Produced across three generations (1964-66, 1967-70, and 1970-1996), the model line was sold under a wide variety of model names under both the Chevrolet and GMC brands. Initially sold as a forward control vehicle (with the engine placed between the seats), the third generation had a conventional layout (placing the engine forward of the driver); the second and third-generation series shared powertrain commonality with the C/K pickup truck model line.
    After the 1996 model year, GM retired the G-Series vans, replacing them with the GMT600-platform Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana.
    In April 1970,[citation needed] GM introduced the third-generation G-series vans as 1971 model-year vehicles. In a complete redesign of the model line, the vans adopted a front-engine configuration (adding a hood to the body[1]). While using a unibody chassis, the third-generation vans derived mechanical components from the second- and third-generation C/K pickup trucks.
    In production for 25 years, the third-generation G-series vans became one of the longest-produced vehicle platforms designed by General Motors.
    For its 1971 introduction, the G-series model line was offered with three different engines.[1] A 250 cubic-inch inline-6 was offered on all versions with two V8 engines. On the 1⁄2-ton vehicles, a 307 cubic-inch V8 was optional, with a 350 cubic-inch V8 offered as an option on 3⁄4-ton and 1-ton vans. Alongside a 3-speed manual transmission, the 2-speed Powerglide was offered alongside the 3-speed Turbo-Hydromatic automatic.[1] After 1972, the Powerglide automatic was dropped.
    For 1974, the 307 was discontinued, replaced by a two-barrel 350 V8 in 1⁄2-ton vans.[6] For 1976, the powertrain line was expanded, with the 292 inline-6 becoming the standard engine in 3⁄4-ton and 1-ton vans; a 305 V8 replaced the 350 two-barrel in 1⁄2-ton vans and a 400 cubic-inch V8 became offered in all versions.

    Love the options this kit gives you. I think it would make a good candidate for a Road Warrior type vehicle or something like that. The off-road tires look really cool. Maybe kit bash it with left over parts from a military vehicle? Only I don't see any 1/25th scale military vehicles but hey, 1/35th parts could work possibly. I like what Round2 seems to get that others may not, that there are modelers out there who like to deviate from the box art. You know, to make it even more your own, something unique. Gets the creative juices flowing boy. Nice job and fun to watch.

      @@my12thdong I believe you are correct. I'd have to pull mine down and open the box. From what I remember is that it is also indeed the Chevy long wheel base, but AMT already cut out the port holes in the rear and it had the drip rail along the top edge. It also comes with a big chrome letter "B" instead of a "C". And of course the great Kiss decals from the Destroyer album.

    Anything wider than a 15x7 is going to stick out of the fenders like that. You'd have to jack it up to run those size tires in the front, too, or they would rub down where the rocker meets the wheel opening at the front. Experience of owning several real Chevy vans.

    Great build. The thing I dont really care for is not being able to see the interior. I did the Black Jack Van (which I believe is 1/20 scale) and made made the doors opening (which allowed you to see inside) I also used a set of So-Real tires that I had hanging around. You did this kit justice though and it looks Vantastic. Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching.

    • @dunhill1
      @dunhill1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a van model collector, your only option for an 83' GMC van would be the Hardy Boys van model by Revell. Oddly, in the actual show they drove a Chevy van long wheel base. That's about it. An original A-Team model van will cost you a fortune. A few are on Ebay for ridiculous amounts of money. I saw one for almost $500! The price of a nice laptop.

    This is just a re-release of the AMT Chevy rescue van, Chevy police van, and I think the groovy van or something. Chris has probably built this kit at least 3 times.
    I hate to be negative about this kit. But it isn't good. The instructions are quite lacking. At least on my version there was a ton of flash. The front end is needlessly complicated, and doesn't go together very well. On my personal Facebook I sometimes do reviews of kits. The best way I can describe this kit is using my favorite quote from Full Metal Jacket.
    All that being said Chris did an amazing job getting a good build out of this kit.
