BirdShot IV Hi Bird and Franky I’m a big fan of your channel and love your videos and I’m a collector of knifes and have accumulated quite a few knifes over the last 18 months so I wanted to let you guys know about a great budget knife I found on Amazon and there’s not one review on it so I know bird will like it and Franky you might too. It’s the Eafengrow EF 226 model number X0010Y72A3 but it’s a budget knife and a replica / clone of the Elijah Isham Arrakis / Eschaton line you can get in Black G10 with a black and satin blade or a OD Green and Satin blade for $26.00 😳 Yes $26.00 well it’s well worth the money and I think you guys will love it. The action is surprisingly good and the Detent is also very good you can use the flipper or even finger flick it thumb roll it or shake it out if you hit it right but I was very happy with it and no one is talking about it I had it in my wishlist for about a year and forgot about it till I was cleaning out my knife wishlist and decided to grab it because I an a huge Elijah Isham fan and this one did remind me of the Eschaton with the Arrakis blade. I wasn’t expecting much but it’s a great little budget knife. That being said it has a few corks like the blade when closed can nip you if you run your finger down it and when you close the blade is very close to your thumb nail because the flipper is hidden which you guys well know Elijah Isham likes to hide his flippers and this one is a great copy. you will see but trust me for $26.00 you will thank me. It’s a very very good clone of the Arrakis and you can get on Amazon so if you do a review you can give me a shout out. Irishbrian. Keep up the great work guys. You are both very entertaining and seem like really nice people. Hopefully we will get to meet one day. Keep up the great work. God bless.
Yeah, it was a fun video. However, Im left with a question: you guys talk about 'assisted' like its a bad thing. What's changed for you? Cause I know you liked them at one point. As for me, that was a huge selling point as to why I became a Kershaw fan years ago =my first purchase & EDC being the Blackout= & my desire for assisted knives hadn't changed since.
I agree. Steel Will flippers in D2 is going to dominate in this price segment. D2 Rat 1 is the only competitor-and this coming from a spyderco fan. Sal, may we have a tenacious D2 in g10 or frn?
I have to agree with yall. SOG used to make really great knives, but their quality has severely dropped. I havent bought a SOG knife in years. Quite sad.
It's time for an update to this vid. Now that you would have more brands on the table like civivi and CJRB I think the field would be completely different.
Modus is probably the best all-around of that bunch. The Fraxion will have the best action, followed by the Rat2. The Amarillo is pretty solid in every category though. tough call ;)
Fun video! I agree that the last two years have drastically improved the choices available in this price range. I also agree that Ganzo had a large part in that. The old go-to companies for budget stuff were starting to get their asses handed to them. Competition is always a good thing.
Definitely a fun video! I love budget knives and seeing knives that may no longer be available. Have you done a more recent video like this? Keep up the great content! ❤️🔪
"It's too chunky". The guy with extra large hands winds up with three little knives. I may have kept the Entropy even though it has a spring. And (gasp) SpyderCo fails to make the list. Half the field was Kershaw and most thrown out because of the spring, but the Fraxion was kept by both. I may have to get that one.
It’s amazing how us collectors change our options on knives as we move up the ladder. I just hope these companies watch this video and see where they can improve but having said that The Rat 2 D2 is Great value for the money which means it can be done. Frankie I love the way you say Hootenanny, so funny! 😂
Steel Will Modus, Bestech Scimitar, Rat 1 in D2, Real Steel H6-S1, Ruike Hussar. Anything 8cr13 would get the boot first in my choices. Byrd Raven 2 could be swapped for the Ruike though
Rat 1 and 2 in D2, Modus, Leek and my Tangram Amarillo 👍 i was surprised you dismissed the leek so early! I've found it to be the most useful blade shape ever. It gets the most use out of any of my knives when I carry it. Plus it's the absolute perfect fishin knife! Great vid guys. Love these pick 5 vids.
I haven’t watched your videos in a while since I’ve been pursuing life’s challenges but I’m glad I came back! (Even if my choices would vary entirely. Lol) From my collection it would have to be: 1) CRKT Buku 2) CRKT homefront 3) Microtech hellhound 4) Elk Ridge fixed blade 5) CRKT fossil And yes I am slightly biased. Oh well. Lol
Boker Kalashnikov for ever I love that knife and all variants of it. I have had the same one for 3 years and it still has a good edge granite I have sharpened it a few times but I love the action of it and the blade steal is great
if I'm not mistaken you got rid of the Kershaw Showtime saying it was "basic steel" and you mentioned the steel when you got rid of the CRKT Razel both in 8cr13mov. Anyway I agree with your choices I have a Cutjack (not a Modus) and it would be my first choice too and I like the Fraxion I would have already bought it if It didn't cost more than 50 euros here in Europe which I find a bit too much for a knife in 8cr13mov steel.
I enjoying the increased pug sightings! I vote you do a musical review in the future. I want more of Bird's lovely singing. And of course I will never complain about the OD-2 love :p
What if you dont get the best option your first time around? New designs available every year... plus its the hobby of it. But if you've found the two perfect blades for you already and dont really appreciate the collecting aspect of it then I suppose you don't, besides specialty type blades that serve specific purposes. Kitchen knives and the like.
@@andeeaye See, I hadnt even heard of the hultafors ok4 before today but after checking it out I want one lol. It's comparable to a Mora which I do have but looks slightly better in terms of design. At least to me. Thanks for sharing.
BirdShot IV , just just your guys chops, I have one and it's been my edc for a few months now. I use it for things like opening feed bags, and you guys are right it Requires constant sharpening
This isn’t hard because I only have three knives under fifty. Mora basic mora Eldris and opinel. For cuts have you guys try a liquid bandaid called new skin. Love that stuff as it seals up cuts and pretty much waterproof. Goes on like nail polish.
Bestech scimitar ($40 on amazon), steel will modus d2, ruike p801 black wash version, tangram orion, cold steel counter point (these were $44 but shot up to $65, if this don't count then...) bestech swordfish ($40 on amazon).
I remember this from the last time, and I had a list of 5 (and one honorable mention). Here's what my current "Pic 5 under $50" would be now (and I promise three will be easy-to-find on Amazon -- but I STILL guarantee one Ganzo): 1) I still can't get the Spyderco Squeak in the list, as it's just above the limit ($50.99 on Amazon), but I still like having a small Spydie here, so once again the *Spyderco Cat* makes it (was in my last list). Nice, light 2.5-inch blade (was 440C when I got it; now they're made w/ BD1), very solid liner lock, fairly deep carry clip . . . Just a really good sub-EDC blade. 2) Going bigger, one might say "Spyderco Tenacious" in this price range. Still don't have one, though -- mainly because I saw the byrd Cara Cara 2 as a great alternative (lockback vs. liner lock) -- similar-sized blade w/ the same 8Cr13MoV steel. I like it so much that I have two CC2's -- a G10 and an FRN -- and I've been debating over which should go here. The FRN may not win beauty awards (the G10 looks nicer), but it DOES shave more than an ounce from the weight, AND more than $10 from the price. However, the *byrd Cara Cara 2 G10* IMO is still the better knife (again, it was in my last list), so . . . (Oh, and I can Spydie-flick the CC2 G10 EVERY SINGLE TIME) 3) Okay, here's where I have a change. Last time, I had a Kershaw Cryo (courtesy of you two) as a very nice solid knife w/ assisted open (good fast open). However, I got another blade last year that's an even faster open, so . . . Enter the *Kershaw Emerson CQC-4KXL* to the list. Big blade (nearly four inches -- largest folder in my collection) of 8Cr14MoV. Frame lock (very smooth in and out of pocket). And with the Emerson Wave, it's "ready to rock" faster than any other folder. I think this wound up being carried more often than my other knives last year. More in reply.
Moving on . . . 4) Here's where I guarantee a Ganzo. Last year I had a "Rat Fink" here. I've done a few more Ganzos afterwards (still have the Rat Finks) -- most of them w/ their version of the "Axis" lock. However, the one I carried the most among the Ganzos . . . doesn't have that lock. The *Ganzo G742* looks almost identical to the G741 -- pretty much the same 3.6-inch 440C blade -- but it's a frame lock. It may be my heaviest Ganzo (so far), but it's also my thinnest. 5) Wildcard time. This has changed so much over time; an Opinel No. 9 made it to my last list, but MANY reconsiderations changed that -- Harnds CK6015 Viper, Sanrenmu 7010, Y-START JIN02, Ganzo G739 (also considered up above), etc. However, my final choice here is . . . the *Sanrenmu LAND 9103* framelock (Yes, I do like that style of lock). Yes, it may be a copy of the large Sebenza (which is way WAY *WAAAAYYY* out of range for this list) -- but one could argue that that particular design was so well done (how many copies of the Buck 110 have there been?). It's still a solid knife, w/ about 3.25 inches of Sandvik 12C27 steel. Well worth it (especially since you can probably find it for under $20). WAIT!! I'm not done yet!!
AND I'm still going to do some Honorable Mentions. I had a Victorinox Super Tinker last time -- I always like to carry a multitool or SAK in addition to my carry blade. This time, though, what goes here is probably the SAK I carry the most nowadays: the *Victorinox Compact.* A little lighter and thinner (two-layer, vs. three layers for the Super Tink -- and about 0.75 oz lighter; I weighed them), but you still have scissors (probably my most-used multitool tool). Because of ONE DOLLAR above the limit (according to Amazon), I still can't put the *Spyderco Squeak* in the "Pick 5 under $50" list -- but it's getting here. It may be a slip joint (no lock), and it may be just a two-inch blade -- but it's a two-inch blade of Bohler N690Co steel (think Euro VG-10), in a very light (1.6 oz) package w/ DEEP carry clip. Just the ticket for Sunday carry. The *Y-START JIN02* ALMOST made it as my "wildcard" -- but there's doubt about the steel. It says "D2" on the blade, and there are some who say it REALLY IS D2. However, others have shown that "D2" on other "Y-START" knives don't act (IOW, hold its edge, or resists corrosion better than) like D2 should -- hence, the doubt. Now, I cannot say for certain one way or the other on the two JIN02's that I have (you get the idea I like this knife?), but I can say that they are doing quite well (staying sharp through the relatively light use I use them for), and the "Axis"-style lock on them is, IMO, better than the ones on my Ganzos (albeit a little stiff). So it gets a nod here. The *Sanrenmu 7010* gets here on value. It may be a "small Sebenza copy" (remember what I said above on the Land 9103), but for WELL UNDER $10, it's still a nice small framelock, w/ 2.75 inches of 8Cr13MoV steel. Best of all, it's surprisingly svelte; 3.2 ounces may be a bit heavy for a small knife, until you clip it to your pocket and you DON'T FEEL IT (under-0.35-inch thickness). Okay, one more, one more. I don't use FIXED blades too often (not as convenient to carry in-pocket like folders), but every now and then one feels the need to have one on-hand (or in hand). I'm not going to argue about Moras here (and there are LOTS to be had within the limit), but instead go maybe one step up. In fact, of all of the knives here, this one might be the EASIEST to get one's hands on. Everything else you might have to order them from a retailer (Amazon, BladeHQ, GearBest, etc.) -- but THIS one you can probably get at your local Wally World (in fact, you might have a hard time finding it elsewhere). The *Buck 632 Mesa* gives you about five inches of (sharp! got the cuts to prove it) 420HC BOS blade, with micarta handles on the sides of the rest of the full tang. That and the (molded plastic) sheath for under $50. There may be better fixed blades -- but not many at that same price or lower. Okay, I'm done now. Seriously, I'm done. You're still here? IT'S OVER!! *chicka-chickaaaaaaaa* . . .
For me this would be very simple. All my under $50 knives are Ontario rat models 1 and 2. Aus 8 and d2 models in both sizes. Wow I have no budget variety
I just got one this week, $26.99. The 0456 Eafengrow. It’s a very robust knife, fit and finish are very nice and it’s getting smoother and smoother. The negatives would be the clip really bites into your palm with that type of grip, less so when I hold it more in my fingers. It appears the blade might be hitting the back spacer when it closes. For $27 I’m very pleased.
Interesting to see the Ganzos fall off so quickly, Im kind of surprised but understand the reasoning. I actually bought a rat fink and a 753 based partially on ya'lls reviews. #blamebirdshotiv These are always fun videos to watch since they fit right in with my budget. Thanks for all your hard work. 😀🔪
BirdShot IV I can respect that. In all fairness I'll likely drop em fairly soon though I did carry a shuffle II for two years. I'm drooling over that BM Pardue.
Dang. After watching your and others older videos I have bought a Tenacous as well as a few Ganzos (and a couple Honey Badgers based on nutnfancy) and it looks like I may have made the wrong choices. Lol
I think they've make the leap already. Best value in the knife world and getting better. Just a tad better steel and under $50 price puts everybody else way behind. Expensive knives are so boring. I don't even bother to look at them.
I would love to do a video like this. but I only own like 7 knives. I have 5 budget knives a we budget knife and a 0452cf. maybe some day when I get more knives. great video tho
I've settled on Ganzo FH21 as my EDC: it's a sub 3.5-inch flipper on bearings, 60HRC D2 blade, and it has an attractive G10 liner-lock handle with good ergonomics (at least for my hand). It weighs about an ounce per inch of blade, and it costs around $25. I own many "better" pocket knives, but worry about losing them when they're in my pocket; for the FH21's price, it's no big deal if I misplace it. I was so impressed after buying one that I bought 15 more, so I'll never be without an FH21. I've been looking at a Civivi Wyvern, which is going for just under $50, but haven't bought one yet.
For this I broke it down into five different niches that apply to my every day life. Standard EDC: Steel will modus. School EDC: (under 2inches)spyderco roadie Hard use: CRKT Razel Dress up: old timer Mountain beaver Jr. Travel: CRKT Pilar
The guy named Steve. That’s CRKT for you. The centering on mine is so bad that it rubs against the liner. The main reason I put it as my “hard use” knife is because I wouldn’t be scared to hurt it.
I find myself using the tuff-lite all the fucking time. Delica rules but is out of the $50 range. All that other cheap shit sucks. Wait, I have a Boker Magnum auto that is awesome. Snappy as hell but it’s illegal where I live so I don’t really own it.
I used to have the same ugly ass carpet lol. For me id say My CRKT Razel, My RAT 1, a Rat 2 in D2 (don't have mine yet). Those are the only non fixed blade knives under $50 I own. A good Kershaw probably, now that they have KVT on some models, since Spring assist is technically illegal in WA. However, I might just say screw it and go with a Link, especially if they still had the M390 version. I'd probably keep my skyline as a letter opener though, that doesn't count as a knife to me. Kizer tangram maybe. Or Possibly a Budget Spyderco like a Tencacious or something. Steel Will is kinda iffy to me now after the new videos from Cedric&Ada, so I'll wait and see what's going on with them. Cold steel tufflite also a maybe.
BirdShot IV True he didn't test the D2 version, they could still very good. I think I'll still wait and see general consensus. There's been a lot of companies that claim D2 but it's really like 440A and other weird (antiquated steel's). I'm sure they're good, they probably wouldn't be all that hyped if they were bad knives. I dont know I'm just kinda iffy for now.
Fun games! I like these kind of hypotheticals. Prob spent way too much time thinking about stuff like this actually. Bye the way “tip to clip overhaul” classic. That’s gonna stick around I feel.
First, love the Bozo shoutout. Steel Will Cutjack in D2 Ruike P108 Kizer Sliver (got it on sale) Kershaw Volt (I love that RJ Martin design) Spyderco Tenacious
I have the modus the Esee in d2 the syper tenacious gerber fastdraw which is my weakest steel but thin and sleek is what keeps it in there and the hardest last selections for me is rat2 or reptile tool works neck knife there the same price but so hard to pick
I would pick a Spyderco or rat for sure. Maybe a boker but not the Kalashnikov because I wouldn't want an auto as one of five of my last knives. Also, I love you pug(s)!!!!!! So cute! It was really funny when he tilted his head like "wut is happening". P.s. I also thing sog has really lost their game. I had an instinct and traded it away because of the blade steel.
Guys you should get some Real Steel knives and some Ruikes and do this video again. It would look way different. Look up the Real Steel H6 or H6 groove.. just look up Real Steel knives, they are all great. Probably the best hard use knives under 50$.
BirdShot IV I love my Ruike P801.. the best fit and finish I ever saw on a knive in this price range and they and Real Steel use the best steel(in my opinion) you can have on a knive for under 50$. After I experienced Real Steel and Ruike knives, I would never buy a Kershaw or CRKT or even a Spyderco again and their crappy 8cr13mov.
Awesome and funny video. My knife came down to controversy.haha At the last second, Bird pulled the fluorescent green cold steel recon mini, so close, no cigar lol . Thanks for the entertainment. Tony
What a debacle all those blades sent to the island of forgotten knives so sad anyway we need to get a high quality production run of the Z HUNTER going by a company like benchmade or zero tolerance maybe a nice green titanium skull corncob handle and a 3V blade and they can make an OTF version too
BirdShot IV a great knife to choose (if you had one) would be the cold steel Sr1 or the broken skull. I've heard great things about them. Mainly the the sr1 being built like a tank and the broken skull having a good sized blade but also being really skinny. (I sound like i work for cold steel 😁)
Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you havent already!
Frankie and Bird
If you had known about the civivi line of knives when this video came out, would it have changed anything?

I know a pocket knives that you don't really have I know were you can get real deal and wild military pocket branch knives!
you guys need to do this again for SURE. The budget market has changed so much and it would be a much rougher time to pick 5.

Just ordered a dividend in grey. I trust you guys enough to let you pick my next knife. Thank you!
Is that a Ferrari poster I see!? Are you a car guy too??
It’s been two years... time for another one?! 😁😁😁
Z-Hunter still there 20 minutes in...
John Spann I’m surprised the skyline lasted as long as it did.
Have you guys had the Cold Steel Prolite yet? It's amazing even with 1.4116 steel. Actually seems on par or better than 8cr13, 420hc and Aus8
it's on our list!
Yeah, it was a fun video. However, Im left with a question: you guys talk about 'assisted' like its a bad thing. What's changed for you? Cause I know you liked them at one point.
As for me, that was a huge selling point as to why I became a Kershaw fan years ago =my first purchase & EDC being the Blackout= & my desire for assisted knives hadn't changed since.
in general, we are seeing better and better actions on manual knives for even lower costs (Atmos, LCK, Fraxion)
@@BirdShotIV makes sense
I agree. Steel Will flippers in D2 is going to dominate in this price segment. D2 Rat 1 is the only competitor-and this coming from a spyderco fan. Sal, may we have a tenacious D2 in g10 or frn?
Tenacious in D2!!
Nice vid guys, your dogs don't bother me they make you guys more relatable, subscription earned
hey, thanks Oscar!
I just got my S.W. Modus in mail yesterday and i luv it. Thanks guys.
I have to agree with yall. SOG used to make really great knives, but their quality has severely dropped. I havent bought a SOG knife in years. Quite sad.
thanks for watching!
13:00 what’s another word for donkey that people say “eat ___”
It's time for an update to this vid. Now that you would have more brands on the table like civivi and CJRB I think the field would be completely different.
What do you shoot your videos on
Would your choices change if you could choose knifes that weren’t in your collection
Is it bad that I always imagine Frankie giggling at a funeral. Lol
Can I get a list of knives in the description? So I don't have to re-watch.
No Coldsteel Prolite or Buck Vantage Select?
don't own them. That Cold Steel looks like it would be a contender
I’m thinking about either buying the Ontario rat 2 (d2), steel will modus, tangram Amarillo, or the Kershaw fraxion. Which one should I pick?
Modus is probably the best all-around of that bunch. The Fraxion will have the best action, followed by the Rat2. The Amarillo is pretty solid in every category though. tough call ;)
Can’t believe you got rid of the Rat1… pretty good pics though..!
Great vid one of my favorite knife vids on youtube
lol thanks for watching!
I'm surprised that you guys did not have the Firebird (Ganzo) FB760 in the mix.
they are good but we're both a little tired of Ganzo atm
BirdShot IV I posted my choices on Instagram and tagged you guys.
Fun video! I agree that the last two years have drastically improved the choices available in this price range. I also agree that Ganzo had a large part in that. The old go-to companies for budget stuff were starting to get their asses handed to them. Competition is always a good thing.
agreed Paul!
Definitely a fun video! I love budget knives and seeing knives that may no longer be available. Have you done a more recent video like this? Keep up the great content! ❤️🔪
I wish Boker made a manual AK. The auto is my favorite knife but I want to be able to carry it more places and for it to be more reliable
They do make a manual kalishnakov on blade hq
"It's too chunky". The guy with extra large hands winds up with three little knives. I may have kept the Entropy even though it has a spring. And (gasp) SpyderCo fails to make the list. Half the field was Kershaw and most thrown out because of the spring, but the Fraxion was kept by both. I may have to get that one.
I bought the blue modus with orange backspacer
good choice!
It’s amazing how us collectors change our options on knives as we move up the ladder. I just hope these companies watch this video and see where they can improve but having said that The Rat 2 D2 is Great value for the money which means it can be done. for some strange reason we STILL do not own at Rat 2
Steel Will Modus, Bestech Scimitar, Rat 1 in D2, Real Steel H6-S1, Ruike Hussar. Anything 8cr13 would get the boot first in my choices. Byrd Raven 2 could be swapped for the Ruike though
gr8 choice and video but you need minimum 1 traditional folder. the otter mercator (k55k)would be a very good choice ATB HAGD
Love these pick 5 vids.
the Link is a great knife lol, we're probably not being fair to it
BirdShot IV they said leek not link
oops, yeah Leek not Link
I haven’t watched your videos in a while since I’ve been pursuing life’s challenges but I’m glad I came back! (Even if my choices would vary entirely. Lol)
From my collection it would have to be:
1) CRKT Buku
2) CRKT homefront
3) Microtech hellhound
4) Elk Ridge fixed blade
5) CRKT fossil
And yes I am slightly biased. Oh well. Lol
Microtech Hellhound is SLIGHTLY over $50 :D
BirdShot IV this is true but I couldn't bring myself to exclude it from any list. Lol
In terms of ganzo (Not particularly my cup of tea) but that cleaver they released is awesome
we need to get that one!
Ontario Rat 1 in D2
Ruike P801
Steel Will Mini Cut Jack in D2
Real Steal H5 Gerfalcon
Tangram Santa Fe
awesome choices to have available!
Honorable mention to the Rat 2 in D2 but if I only have 5, I can't have TWO Ontarios.Gotta spread it around.
And ABSOLUTELY a Boker Kalishnikov if it was legal to carry in my state.
Whaaa... you didn't put any bestech d2 on here? I'm going to assume that you didn't know they go for $40 on amazon.
Mt. Baldwin They disqualified them so I did also. But a Lion would be a good choice.
What’s a good, long folder?
under $50? the Spyderco Resilience
Just got the Walmart black FRN flipper. So stoked! Plastic washers! Super tight weak flipper action! Best $4 I ever spent.
Thanks for ensuring my buy on the Steel Will, had my eye on it but was waiting for something like this, I'm gonna buy that and a copper mini natrix
that copper Natrix looks interesting
Boker Kalashnikov for ever I love that knife and all variants of it. I have had the same one for 3 years and it still has a good edge granite I have sharpened it a few times but I love the action of it and the blade steal is great
The tenacious and Rat 1 were my first 2 picks. I can't imagine life or work without my tenacious.
both great knives, no doubt
Definitely, I love my Tenacious
No Ruike?
I don't understand they discarded some knives because of the 8cr13mov steel and then chose other knives made of the same steel.
It's been awhile, did we get rid of a knife BECAUSE it was 8Cr13MoV?
if I'm not mistaken you got rid of the Kershaw Showtime saying it was "basic steel" and you mentioned the steel when you got rid of the CRKT Razel both in 8cr13mov. Anyway I agree with your choices I have a Cutjack (not a Modus) and it would be my first choice too and I like the Fraxion I would have already bought it if It didn't cost more than 50 euros here in Europe which I find a bit too much for a knife in 8cr13mov steel.
I don’t see any Ruike knives. They should be there as well.
ours it out in youtube land. We linked it as the best that's not here
I enjoying the increased pug sightings! I vote you do a musical review in the future. I want more of Bird's lovely singing. And of course I will never complain about the OD-2 love :p
haha thank you Alex!! We love this little OD-2
Felix says hey
If y'all had the Ruike P801 would it have made the list?
it would have been on the table at the very least
That collection is a beautiful thing
CRKT HOOTENANNY!!!
CRKT Amicus
Spyderco Tenacious
Firebird FB760
CRKT Caligo
The last 2 are my current EDCs.
You guys are always fun to watch! 👍🏽🔪
Love how you type HOOTENANNY lol.
BirdShot IV That’s the only way to type it. 👍🏽🔪
Kershaw induction was a good deal as well
we need to check one of those out
Ontario shikra should of been present and accounted for .titanium and micarta for under 50 ...killer deal imo
Why does anyone need more than 3 knives?? I have 2. A folder and a fix
What are they btw?
@@ManOfTheWoods123 fair enough. I have a zt 0450cf and a Hultafor OK4
@@andeeaye See, I hadnt even heard of the hultafors ok4 before today but after checking it out I want one lol. It's comparable to a Mora which I do have but looks slightly better in terms of design. At least to me. Thanks for sharing.
You guys really do have a great collection!!!
a few have been around for awhile but it's always changing these days!
So disappointed you didn't pick the razel
sad to see it go :(
BirdShot IV , just just your guys chops, I have one and it's been my edc for a few months now. I use it for things like opening feed bags, and you guys are right it Requires constant sharpening
Would you be interested in selling your Kershaw OD-1?
sorry, the OD knives are keepers :/
@@BirdShotIV I totally understand! I wish I still had mine! And I mistyped *OD-2. They really are great knives in a small package. Cool video!
This isn’t hard because I only have three knives under fifty. Mora basic mora Eldris and opinel.
For cuts have you guys try a liquid bandaid called new skin. Love that stuff as it seals up cuts and pretty much waterproof. Goes on like nail polish.
New Skin!!! it works well
What about Victorinox ??
sorry, we meant to say no SAK's
Bestech scimitar ($40 on amazon), steel will modus d2, ruike p801 black wash version, tangram orion, cold steel counter point (these were $44 but shot up to $65, if this don't count then...) bestech swordfish ($40 on amazon).
Somebody asked about the black wash ruike p801, yeah it's at bladehq for $35, the blade, scales, clip and hardware are all black stone washed.
I remember this from the last time, and I had a list of 5 (and one honorable mention). Here's what my current "Pic 5 under $50" would be now (and I promise three will be easy-to-find on Amazon -- but I STILL guarantee one Ganzo):
1) I still can't get the Spyderco Squeak in the list, as it's just above the limit ($50.99 on Amazon), but I still like having a small Spydie here, so once again the *Spyderco Cat* makes it (was in my last list).
However, the *byrd Cara Cara 2 G10* IMO is still the better knife (again, it was in my last list), so . . . (Oh, and I can Spydie-flick the CC2 G10 EVERY SINGLE TIME)
3) Okay, here's where I have a change.
More in reply.
haha EcchiSpud, you were well inside the first 1000 subscribers. Maybe even 500?
Moving on . .
Fairly early -- your GAWs still had the selections done by hand.
Very well thought out, good stuff!
Wow I have no budget variety
not bad though really in this scenario
Rat 1, Rat 2, Spyderco Roadie, Spyderco Ladybug hawkbill salt, Case medium stockman
The Roadie is RIGHT on the edge lol
What's wrong wit 8cr steal
What do you guys think of the Eafengrow knives? I'd be interested in seeing a video on some of their budget knives off of Amazon.
yeah, watched a video on one of those on Jimislash channel, looks good
I just got one this week, $26.99.
#blamebirdshotiv
These are always fun videos to watch since they fit right in with my budget. Thanks for all your hard work. 😀🔪
yeah we're just ready for something new from Ganzo
BirdShot IV I can respect that. In all fairness I'll likely drop em fairly soon though I did carry a shuffle II for two years. I'm drooling over that BM Pardue.
love the Pardue!
Oh agree SOG is my least favorite fit and finish had twitch 2, own a Zoom Mini Tanto.
Dang. After watching your and others older videos I have bought a Tenacous as well as a few Ganzos (and a couple Honey Badgers based on nutnfancy) and it looks like I may have made the wrong choices. Lol
Ganzo lead the way and drove the others to improve. Now it's time for them to play leap frog
I think they've make the leap already. Best value in the knife world and getting better. Just a tad better steel and under $50 price puts everybody else way behind. Expensive knives are so boring. I don't even bother to look at them.
I'll take three auto folders, a lightning otf, and a folding karambit
Those are the knives I would chose
haha awesome!
* speed intensifies *
* drag lessens *
I would love to do a video like this. but I only own like 7 knives. I have 5 budget knives a we budget knife and a 0452cf. maybe some day when I get more knives. great video tho
452 is the king of that collection then, not bad!
BirdShot IV the 452 is my favorite for sure
I was carrying a fraxion when I watched this so I was happy when it made it
lol ya, great knife
Thanks you two!
StatGear Ausus D2 (Crazy nice!)
OKC RAT 1 D2
Bestech Warwolf D2
Steel Will Cutjack D2
Kershaw Link (Alum.)
we finally ordered a Bestech, I think it was the Warwolf
I'm sure you'll like it. The detent is quite firm : - )
It's SNAPPY!
can't believe that they got rid of the Skyline, one of the best knives that are up there, and they got rid of the Tenacious!
lol thanks for watching
For this I broke it down into five different niches that apply to my every day life.
Standard EDC: Steel will modus.
School EDC: (under 2inches)spyderco roadie
Hard use: CRKT Razel
Dress up: old timer Mountain beaver Jr.
Travel: CRKT Pilar
That's a pretty sensible list, well done
BirdShot IV thanks!☺️ Oh! And thank you for showing me the Modus, it hasn’t left my pocket since it arrived.
The guy named Steve. That’s CRKT for you. The centering on mine is so bad that it rubs against the liner. The main reason I put it as my “hard use” knife is because I wouldn’t be scared to hurt it.
The guy named Steve. Yikes.
That first second of the video stole my heart
Little buddy appreciates that!
The Rat 2 Crkt m-16, minimalist, kersaw leek and tenacious.
not bad except the minimalist doesn't count :/
BirdShot IV ah! Your right! I miss read the title. I'm sorry
The M-16 is not a bad choice.
You should have made a TH-cam challenge for the rest of us! Good subject. Much more interesting when it’s five instead of one.
My last 5 under $50:
Spyderco Tenacious
Ontario Rat 1
Sog Blink
Cold Steel Ti Lite 6"
Bestech Scimitar
ALMOST ordered that Scimitar today but last minute we went with the Warwolf
BirdShot IV I have heard good things about the Warwolf as well. I look forward to seeing your video on it!
I find myself using the tuff-lite all the fucking time. Delica rules but is out of the $50 range.
All that other cheap shit sucks.
Wait, I have a Boker Magnum auto that is awesome. Snappy as hell but it’s illegal where I live so I don’t really own it.
yeah the Tuff-Lite is really awesome and doesn't get enough credit. Great top 5 choice
Glad the Tuff-Lite made it!
it's a worker
I am surprise the gold Stiletto stayed in that long
if only it was AUS 8...lol
I know what you mean I have a big boy still little from tac force I sharpened it well but it can't cut thick plastic
Steel Will Cutjack D-2.
Kershaw Piston
Real Steel Sea Eagle.
Kershaw Shuffle (Blue w/ black blade.)
Kershaw Fraxion
Real Steel has some good ones too
I used to have the same ugly ass carpet lol.
Cold steel tufflite also a maybe.
to be fair, the Steel Will issues are with the Italian knives. Rat 2 in D2 would have been picked by one of us
BirdShot IV True he didn't test the D2 version, they could still very good.
Steel Will Cutjack in D2
Ruike P108
Kizer Sliver (got it on sale)
Kershaw Volt (I love that RJ Martin design)
Spyderco Tenacious
some good ones Aaron
Felix says hey
If you look hard enough on Amazon you can find a Delica 4 on Amazon for about $58 that still out of your budget but close enough
haha close but no cigar
The steel will is a great value
agreed Adam
Guys you should get some Real Steel knives and some Ruikes and do this video again. It would look way different.
Look up the Real Steel H6 or H6 groove.. just look up Real Steel knives, they are all great. Probably the best hard use knives under 50$.
We have an H6 review from a couple years ago, nice knife. IIRC it was a GAW prize. Ruike has great stuff too
BirdShot IV I love my Ruike P801.. the best fit and finish I ever saw on a knive in this price range and they and Real Steel use the best steel(in my opinion) you can have on a knive for under 50$. After I experienced Real Steel and Ruike knives, I would never buy a Kershaw or CRKT or even a Spyderco again and their crappy 8cr13mov.
Prediction before watching your selection. The dividend and Modus make the cut....
What about the Gold Stilleto and the Z-Hunter?
BirdShot IV I thought the gold stilletto was worth like 9 grand?!
Don't tell anyone this but...it's not real gold...
I trade the Ontario Rat 2 for the Cut Jack Modus
3:22 Balls... that is all (I enjoy your humor!)
lol thanks for watching!
Awesome and funny video. My knife came down to controversy.haha At the last second, Bird pulled the fluorescent green cold steel recon mini, so close, no cigar lol . Thanks for the entertainment. Tony
What a debacle all those blades sent to the island of forgotten knives so sad anyway we need to get a high quality production run of the Z HUNTER going by a company like benchmade or zero tolerance maybe a nice green titanium skull corncob handle and a 3V blade and they can make an OTF version too
it would be cool to see a "midtech" Z-hunter lol
I choose my rajah 2. It was a gift and therefore cost me nothing (i dont have many knives so I chose 1)
the Rajah is a cool knife :D
BirdShot IV a great knife to choose (if you had one) would be the cold steel Sr1 or the broken skull. I've heard great things about them. Mainly the the sr1 being built like a tank and the broken skull having a good sized blade but also being really skinny. (I sound like i work for cold steel 😁)
You gotta take the razel
Cool video guys! Great choices 👊🤘👍✌
thanks A Ray!
Hello and thank you for the video. I really enjoy your channel.
we really appreciate that!
Glad to see the hootenanny make it! 😅👍
probably one of the best two or three flippers in the whole bunch
You know I think it's almost time to do another of these considering some of the knives that have come out since.
You should give R2D2 a chance!!!
