Once upon a time this place was someone's pride and joy. Now it waits to be torn down. So sad. I hope someone saves some of those doors and wood work. You never disappoint Kappy. Thank you for inviting us along on your adventures.
This is a beautiful house, just from the outside. And then I get inside, and see all the beautiful dark wood trimming and stairs. NIIIICE fireplace. Wood, mirror and brick. Gorgeous.
I’m sure I speak for everyone. We’d rather you be safe than us getting to see another room. What a gorgeous house she must have been in her early days. Thanks Kappy stay safe!
For being almost 150 years old she still stands pretty majestically. A few bumps and bruises but still standing tall. Love the pocket doors, actually I would not mind having them in my house they are a beautiful addition to any house. Also, the fire places are great too, but my favorite part was that wooden archway over the stairs. Have a great day
Very sad to see this ornately designed mansion in it's last days. Thankyou for making a record of what you could. One day it may be most valuable to someone looking into local history.
Don’t ever apologize. You took a risk there. It’s a bummer we can’t see certain rooms, but I’d rather you didn’t chance it and fall through. Thank you for taking us along with you.

Heartbreaking!!! 😥 Homes are not built like this anymore. Beautiful hardware, fireplace tiles, wood trim and pocket doors! Why hasn't someone bought this? What stories this house must have. Thanks Kappy 💜
Kappy i enjoy your videos so much! I'm 70 years old and some of these places bring back memories of my neighbours old famhouse. Exquisite! A showplace, yet a family had a lifetime of going about their daily routine of work and school. Welcoming guests who came by for a visit. A welcoming house for all who stopped by.❤
Your a brave man going in places by yourself sometimes. There is no way I would do it. But thanks for bringing us along. And show casing these homes. No apologies for being safe.
Over 40 years ago we bought a house from around the same time period...had it cut apart and moved to our property. It was not as far gone as that one though and it took a lot of work but I still live in it and still love it.
Pictures from the front of house fooled me. It didn’t look like the roof was bad. The tile was such a beautiful green. You find a lot of beauty in these older homes. You do amazing work showing us places we remember in child hood. How things were built with lots of hard work and the people took pride in their work back then. Thank you and always be safe!!
Oh I just want to cry because this was once a very beautiful house I love the big front and the style of the house but so sad that no one wanted to restore it all ,,it would of been so nice for a large family a beautiful place for kids to run and play in the yard ,,now it's eventually going to be destroyed 😢😢😢
Wow, I sympathize with you Kappy. It’s a shame this could not be restored. Kappy, please be careful in these home like this. I would hate for you to get hurt. Beautiful, beautiful old home. It is a shame. I wonder where the family is now, heirs and such. It is beautiful inside and out. I absolutely love porticos also especially the older ones with all the ornate pieces. Every time I watch one of your videos the song: “Dust in the Wind” runs through my mind; “Dont hang on-Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky…..All we dream….All we are is Dust in the wind”🎶🎶🎶🎶
SirShackleford, I agree, the original family that lived here must be so sad seeing it from where they are in heaven and the mess it has become. Heartbreakingly sad...
Wow Kappy, risking your life going up those stairs-never apologies! It was so deceiving on the outside, it looked mostly in tact. So beautiful. The turret, dormers, porch. Loved it. What a crying shame the mantles & tub weren’t saved. Plus all the antiques. Thanks Kappy. I really hope somebody knows where you are when you explore alone. Stay safe
Thank you for the concern!! Definitely was a bit scary upstairs! I pushed it about as far as I could lol! Agreed tho! So many beautiful pieces just crumbling away! Thanks for watching! :)
It was once a beautiful home! The mantles were unbelievable. I love the old mirrors when they have aged. You make it so exciting and scary, too. Never apologize for “not” putting your life at risk. ❤
Beautiful house on the outside. It’s sad to see its beauty wither away but to stand 147 years is really amazing with no restoration and with years of weather beating at it.
My heart is also breaking. That this beauty was treated with such a lack of respect is incomprehensible to me! She should have been loved, cherished and taken care of for generations to come. I'm thinking it was likely not kept up long before abandonment. Shame on those who would let this beauty die!

You might be right! Just such a crazy old house with so much charm and the roof is collapsing! Astonishing too me! Thanks for watching and the kind words! :)
Was once a charming home, sad. Fret work is similar to my house built in 1909. I have a huge piece in my front room. Really a heart breaker if you love old houses ,got to keep a roof on them..
Sometimes some houses hit harder than others in regards to their brief future. Thank you for doing this one, It was hard in many ways, I'm sure. Never apologize for being safe!
When I saw those newer looking TV dishes on the side I figured it probably hadn't been abandoned long and would be in decent shape. That hole in the roof sealed this houses fate. I don't think there's any saving it realistically.
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773The molding around the doors (dentils?) remind me of the house I lived in North East Texas during college. It might have been built around the same time, but I thought it was from the 1930s.
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 This is a beautiful place. I love the portico on the roof. Restoration Nation has been working on a home for a year. Just last week she showed her fireplace after removing paint. It looks very similar to this one. She also has another one with those green tiles. I'm sure they would love to salvage stuff here, but I don't know if that's something they do. I love clawfoot tubs.

Kudos to almost 4k views in 6 hours, 836 likes, tons of comments. Holy cow
That's a fascinating old home. I'm really amazed so many very early elements were still there, such as knob and tube wiring and braided cord pendant lights, which had to be the first and only wiring installations ever done. I even noticed the remnants of a gas light pipe above the second floor landing. Gas was no doubt the original method of lighting. Beautiful woodwork in so many of the rooms. Obviously, someone was living there in the modern day utilizing some very primitive electrical and plumbing fixtures. I've only seen something similar once, and that was in a circa 1903 house in the 1970s
I’m glad you didn’t risk those extremely dangerous areas of the upstairs. It’s not worth it. The outside of that house was really deceiving as to how far gone it was. Stay safe and thank you for another fun adventure !

A two-fer! How wonderful! This place is still a beauty, like a belle past her prime tightly holding onto her youth. How sad that someone felt obliged to besmirch her loveliness by strewing her meager possessions around like naughty children! Even so, her charm shines through brightly. The details which set her apart from other houses remain to show how much pride her builders placed in her. She was surely the pinnacle of design and detail back in her day. It's awful that her roofing system should have failed. It's like her heart is broken and she is awaiting the final storm or vagrant's fire to put an end to her life. How grateful I am that you found this gorgeous house, Kappy, and shared her with us before she falls prey to additional pillage and the passage of time and the damage which will no doubt continue to ravage her. I think the downstairs rooms in this house in are a perfect size. Not too big and not too small. What a shame it is now left to the elements. I can only imagine the home it once was from the fabulous interior that remains 💚
This one brought tears to my eyes, what a shame. What a beautiful old house, the woodwork is just phenomenal. Thank you for showing so much of the upstairs (although you scared me doing it!). The windows in that upstairs room and the ceilings were so elegant. Someone should definitely salvage this one before it's too late, so many antiques, mantles, the beautiful tiles... I get the feeling the last person there was a single lady who couldn't keep up with it and when she left it just fell apart. I see a necklace on the back of the toilet downstairs next to the Guideposts and handbags on the floor. Love this one so much, thank you for capturing it!
Wow! Believe it or not, there used to be a house here in town almost exactly like this one. It was a residence but the people living in it did a lot of tax work. It burnt to the ground about 10 years ago, and the couple didn't make it out and perished. Brought back lots of memories of my experiences with them. I had been using their tax business enough years that we became friends. I'd even go over just to visit. Thanks for the memories young man!
Hey Kappy! Wow, I can imagine just how beautiful this place was in its day. If it is truly going to be torn down, there is still a lot of hardware and things that could be salvaged! Thanks for getting a look inside before it goes. Stay safe! ✌️
I don’t know if it will be torn down for this one! Seems more like nature and weather will do this old house in! Still could be saved with a lot of money! Thank you for watching! :)
What a lovely old house. That roof damage is just terrible, pretty much ruined the whole place. Doesn't look like anyone had lived there for a very long time. Thanks, Kappy
Very true! The hole in the roof is really the biggest problem! Right in the center of the house! Glad I got there early enough too still make it up the steps! Another year or two and would’ve been able too only show first floor! Thanks for watching!! :)
Thank you Kappy for all that you do, risking life and limb to bring us these videos. I can only imagine your travel costs and the countless hours of research and then the editing time you have invested in these videos that we watch for free. If I was very rich I would buy you an old house that had been fully and accurately restored as a well deserved gift. Art from Ohio
Good explore, thank you! I'm not sure why exactly, but I do love the very old oblong door knobs and accompanying hardware. Also fond of the wood craftsmanship that remains! By the way, I hope you don't ever feel like you have to apologize for exercising good, safe judgement.
Truly wicked to have let this stunning house get into such a state. It's gorgeous or at least, was at one time. Might be beyond saving now. Such a shame.
I would have loved to see what was in that old trunk at 14:05 but not at all worth risking your life for.Maybe it was filled with old comics and baseball cards.I dream about that sort of thing all the time.
It's so cute when you see something that must blow you away and say holy cow...at least you don't use profanity. I LOVE and appreciate your videos and your excitement. Please be safe doing these houses.
What a beautiful house back in the day! I kept thinking there was so much that could still be salvaged in it. Sad that it will just all disappear. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on any of your videos but this house just touched me.
The outside is so beautiful! And the inside, you can imagine how gorgeous it must have been at one time! It’s so sad that they can’t restore this house. But it seems like it decayed pretty fast. Thanks Kappy and Ruby. This was awesome 💜
Thanks for letting look over your shoulder. It's so sad, one day our lives are just humming along, the next gone. Decay takes over. It's a shame that so much of that stuff could have made others so happy. Now it's just dust.
You sure do have an eye for the good ol things Kappy. 35 years isn't very long for mother nature to take over. No back story on this house? It's ok. I can make up my own in my imagination. Thanks for sharing!
When you showed the first exterior shots I thought "WOW! This house is in great shape! Why isn't anyone living there?" Then you went inside and my heart just broke.....so sad.....
In the 90s my 4 kids and I lived in an old farm house built in the 1880s. Loved it. You could tell the kitchen and bathrooms were add-ons in the 20s. The historical society tried to save it but it was bulldozed for a new interstate.
This was a beautiful house wish it could be again..I could really picture it they need to Salvage the furniture mantles and hardware. These old houses make my heart aches. I love these old houses so much
I really like the kitchen yellow table and chairs..those are becoming popular again. Someone should have at least kept the roof up so that it would not allow water to ruin the inside...the wooden arch in foyer is priceless but now ruined.
Thank you for the video Kappy! Yes, that house was beautiful once, but not anymore. Usually the reason they have wood burners is because it's actually more efficient for heating.
Yes I wish you would have got there sooner but still an awesome 👍😎 old house thanks for taking us as far as you did I could just imagine that place in it's golden years

I had been using their tax business enough years that we became friends. I'd even go over just to visit. Thanks for the memories young man!
Sweet story! Thank you for sharing it❤
Oh that's heartbreaking, may they RIP
Thank you for showing us these old homes, but never any need to apologize, your safety comes first 👍
Much appreciated for the kind words and watching!

Love your explores. Continue to stay aware of your surroundings and be safe.
Beautiful old house. Thanks Kappy, such a shame it's left to rot.
Thank you very much for watching! :)
Good explore, thank you!
I'm not sure why exactly, but I do love the very old oblong door knobs and accompanying hardware. Also fond of the wood craftsmanship that remains!
By the way, I hope you don't ever feel like you have to apologize for exercising good, safe judgement.
You're a braver man than I, Gunga Din! Thanks for taking me places I'd never DARE step!
Haha Much appreciated for the kind words and watching! :)
🙋♀️ I don't trust it either. I've said this before, when you say "hello", my heart stops. What a lovely house. I wish it could be saved.
The upstairs was gorgeous in it's day. So much charm in the shapes of the walls/ceiling, windows etc.
What a beautiful house back in the day! I kept thinking there was so much that could still be salvaged in it. Sad that it will just all disappear. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on any of your videos but this house just touched me.
Stop saying you're sorry! Safety first! Yes, it is a shame for houses like that to deteriorate. It was a beauty for sure.
Sad to see it abandoned. It appears to have been wonderful once.
Beautiful house 😮
Thank ya for watching!! :)
what a amazing woodwork in that beautiful house ,back in the days , it was goosy warm and i love it
Don't be sorry for not showing something. You have a good head on your shoulders. Not worth getting hurt!
In the 90s my 4 kids and I lived in an old farm house built in the 1880s. Loved it. You could tell the kitchen and bathrooms were add-ons in the 20s. The historical society tried to save it but it was bulldozed for a new interstate.
I love big old houses...
grand old house
I can picture in my mind it's former grandeur! So sad to see these home fall from glory to this state. Thanks for documenting Kappy!
You find the best old places
This was a beautiful house wish it could be again..I could really picture it they need to Salvage the furniture mantles and hardware. These old houses make my heart aches. I love these old houses so much
And salvage the clawfoot tubs and bathroom sinks.
I do not understand how we can turn our backs on these gems of history! We must save and preserve these gorgeous homes!🥰💗🙏
I couldn’t agree more! Much appreciated for the kind words and watching! :)
Yes I wish you would have got there sooner but still an awesome 👍😎 old house thanks for taking us as far as you did I could just imagine that place in it's golden years
